  1. As other posters have mentioned it, it's got to be difficult putting everything into being a pro football player and then it all falls apart and you become just an "ordinary" guy working the proverbial 9-5 and not being handed the world because you're a great athlete. I hope he gets the help he needs.

If it weren't for the hundreds of thousands of dollars these guys are paid I would agree. I get it that a guy plays in the NFL and then he doesn't and its a big letdown.

  2. I live in Southern California and the Chargers defense has been in a downward spiral the last three games, especially the last two. The Bills played them when they were firing on all cylinders. If Orton had been the QB the Bills would have beat them. We will find out if the Bills are contenders over the next few weeks when they go head to head with the teams they are locked in a playoff battle with.

  3. I think they'll finish 2nd in the division and still have a playoff shot.

I agree. This team still can be 10-6 and make the playoffs. At the start of the season most would have put them at 3-3 after six games. Even with the turnovers I felt they were playing even up with the Patriots through the first half. I am more disappointed with the defensive letdown in the second half than anything else.

  4. This game was hard to watch. With an offense, or should I say with a Quarterback, the Bills should have had a commanding lead by halftime. At the very worst it should have been 10-0 at the half. They should have been able to run out the first half even if they didn't score. If Manuel looked like he was improving it would be better, but he looked bad.

  5. Sullivan is negative most of the time but if you look at the Bills history for the past 14 years its hard to not be. The same thing for the Sabres the past 6 years. Mostly negative stuff. If he put a positive spin on it he'd be called a "Homer" or on the Bills & Sabres payroll. Most sports writers are skeptical and try to cut through the spin the teams put on everything. Good for them. If the Bills make measureable progress he will write about it. I hope the Bills are for real. There is nothing like success to shut up the critics.

  6. It was hot today in San Diego. There has been a heat wave out west for the past four days. The stadium is several miles from the coast. I beileve 120 on the field could have been accurate. This is a winable game. It will be closer like the Bears game. It should be a great test. Most polls had the Chargers in the 10th or 11th spot.

  7. IF anyone moves to LA, it will be: 1) Raiders, 2) Chargers.

I think the NFL is living in the past on this one. The demographics are not there for an NFL franchise. Their TV audience would rather watch soccer or a bull fight than an NFL game. AND as others have mentioned, there's no funding for a Stadium.

I don't know about the bull fight but this is correct. The Chargers attendance is related to their success. If they stink they won't sell out the stadium. In 2012 they had four of their eight games blacked out. Last year when the put up a playoff run only one of the eight was blacked out. I don't know about Oakland but they don't sell out the Coliseum. I think they tarp off the upper deck. Hockey with the Kings & Ducks fills the fall NFL void for Los Angeles. And it is correct there is no public money for stadiums and never will be.

  8. It will probably be the Chargers or Raiders or both going to the Los Angeles. The Chargers are in a position to leave San Diego and the Raiders are year to year in Oakland. Both teams are only commited to stay through the 2014 season. There isn't any public support to build a new stadium for the Chargers and I doubt they could get it. The Chargers have a lot of fan support throughout Southern California, outside of San Diego.

  9. Hmmm. Top defense and top running game against the most pass happy dominant offense in the history of the league and the biggest game in the biggest stage was one of the biggest blowouts in Super Bowl history.

And against a franchise QB who was coming off a history making season. If you look at the QB stats for Manning and Wilson you would think the score was reversed. And look at all the fancshise QB's who didn't make it to the Super Bowl like Brees, Rodgers, RIvers and Brady. You need a whole team of contributors anchored by a solid defense more.

  10. Wilson & Kapernick are solid but only time will tell if they are great and trully franchise QB's. Kapernick killed his team in the second half. Both interceptions were from poor choices. Wilson made his share of mistakes as well. It still comes down to defense to will a championship. Denver's D stepped up today against the Cheatriots and Peyton Manning, who is trully a franchise QB, was great again. I think Denver will be a heavy favorite and will beat Seattle. They have the whole package. Solid offense, special teams, defense and coaching. It doesn't get any better than that. And just two years ago they barely made the playoffs at 8 - 8.

  11. Whitner, Lynch, Winfield, Peters, Pat Williams...an unending list of quality players that we let walk for nothing or almost nothing. Byrd will be on that list soon. We sign FA's that play like puke and have to draft over and over again to replace quality players that we let walk. We are consistently below the cap so this all hangs on the front office.

This sums up the Bills, especially the comment about Byrd joining that list. Spiller will be on it as well. This team doesn't have a history, outside of the late 80's and early 90's where it keeps key players and builds a team around them. They should have kept Lynch. He was a stud and he still is a stud. He makes Wilson a better QB. Seattle built an offense around him and added a solid defense to go with it.

  12. Must be December.... By the way, am I the only one who can't bear to watch the playoffs with the Bills out of them yet again?

You might be the only one not watching the playoffs. I watch the games that interest me and root for any team playing the Patriots. Since I am out west I will root for the Chargers and 49ers.

  13. Outside of the 80 yard run Bills D has held TB to 145 yards of offense...take away the Jackson wounded duck TD and Tampa has had about 100 yards of offense...

    Glennon 9 of 25 for 90 yards

The defense has been decent. The offense has made a ton of mistakes and hasn't moved the ball. They keep giving Tampa a short field.
