It was a charity basketball event. Other Bills were playing basketball too. Maybe the problem is that Keon is too athletic? Maybe if he played basketball without jumping so high? 🤷‍♂️

And given Keon's basketball background, if he did not choose to play, what would the howls be then?  Too soft, aloof, not a team player?

  2. Then:  Shane Nelson.   So solid in the shadow of Haslett and Smerlas

A Few Days Ago:  Stevie Johnson.  Polarizing figure, never got proper credit for performance because of big personality and shenanigans.

Now:  Sean McDermott.  Gets annually dragged through the mud for bringing this team to a consistent level of success unimaginable before his arrival.

Honorable Mention:  Joe Ferguson.  Still love you Fergie!

Yeah but look at what aging does …. You can fart and end up in the e.r……

It's shocking and humbling!  At 61, still feeling a little like a bad a**, I broke my leg trying to break a piece of styrofoam packing from TV box into smaller pieces to fit into the garbage.  Age is undefeated.  And I have a new appreciation for those who advise to never throw away the original box and packaging for a TV.

To my knowledge, neither plays defense.

And it’s not exactly a newsflash that the Eagles’ defense is better than Buffalo’s.

It sounds like you are looking at this as a stat about the QB's.  It is not that.  It IS a stat about how defense being effective or not can shape the outcome of a game, regardless of QB play.  It is a defensive stat that just uses the QB's to identify relatable events that can easily illustrate the impact .

I thought day 2 was definitely possible. I didn't have him in my final first round mock. Had someone taken him in the third round, I'd shrug. But going round 5? I think there were things other than how good a football player and leader is this kid at play. That is where I have some sympathy with him and I thought in the context of that.... he handled himself pretty well over the weekend.

Sometimes it is not all about blame and fault.  To me, Sanders' fall made complete sense just due a few basic realities that define Sanders as a prospect.  It is a legit question weather or not he has the maturity or the "chops" to take on the type of leadership role that will earn the respect of a locker room full of adults that have moved heaven and earth to make their own names.  He's never had to demonstrate that trait in his career to date.  Sanders, at the end of the day, is just a kid that has never been in a situation where he was not the boss's kid.  That is part of his resume that teams will include in their evaluation of him.  As it should be.

He's going to be tested and face a ton of scrutiny from teammates in the NFL.  How he will handle that scrutiny is a question, and to some teams, it a question that they chose not to ignore.  Can he lead a team without that security blanket, without his world famous dad standing behind him with that "don't mess with my son" aura hanging over the room and even inside the huddle?  It is a significant unknown.

Yes, the Deion shadow is a real thing.  It is something that any team must consider.  I would guess that most teams probably just scratched him from their boards, as they do with many prospects when then decide that whatever headache they bring just isn't worth it.  Is that Shadeur's fault?  Not even relevant.  It is just the reality that defines him as a decision for teams to make.  I can understand why many teams just chose out of that drama.

why does this regime continue to undervalue WR more than any other position?

I could swear that they spent their top pick last year on WR.  If you see Randy Moss or Marvin Harrison out there in round 4, just waiting for their moment, go ahead and score your "I told you so points now and name him".   Maybe the reality is that the best use of their resources on day 3 was a situational player that fills a need they may have cost them a Super Bowl or 2.  WR is NOT their problem.  Why do you want to have to rely on having the ball last to win?  How about you properly staff a defense that does not require last drive heroics for an MVP QB to win.  Again... perspective.  It is round 4!  Your stud WR is not walking to that podium today.  A valuable piece of a complex defense may have just done so.

    Derrick Burroughs

He was more than promising, he was good.  Why do I immediately think of the 1988 AFC Championship game when I think of Burroughs?  I can't remember exactly what it was, but it seems he was a goat of some kind in that game... and not in a good goat kind of way.

I can't hear those Marv Levy quotes & not think "WHY DO WE STILL NOT HAVE 90'S RED HELMETS AS AN ALTERNATE ALREADY?!"

Even if they're not everyone's favorites, they're still a great look, and it'd be a shame to not see Josh play in that look at least once.

Because the red helmets were always FUGLY!  They were embarrassing when they were first trotted out in 1984 to give Ferguson an assist in trying not to throw pics.  They were still FUGLY though the Super Bowl years with Kelly.  They are best left in the trash bin with the CFL uniforms of the JP Lossman era (also the hideous red helmet look).  Stay with the classy white helmets that are the hallmark of excellence on THIS era.

I hope Coleman can remain the happy-go-lucky guy throughout his career.

It's not too long ago when Tre White showed up with his big fun personality.  Then he got injured, and his fun side got injured as well.  I'm not saying it wouldn't have destroyed me either, but Tre was never the same after the first injury.  He rarely did media stuff after that.  Mentally it must've been hell.

I also think that the Covid season and some of the divisions within the team over that issue messed a lot with Tre's enjoyment of the game.  He seemed like he reluctantly played in 2020 (but played great) and then the injury followed in 2021.  I hope he finds his groove again in LA.  He was just a really good, talented guy.

Josh Allen will be 28 years old when the season starts.

The absolute prime of his career.

Yes.  There is a reasonable explanation for all of Brandon Beane's offseason moves.  Why he surprisingly cut Mitch Morse (along with several other veterans).  Why he decided not to restructure all of Allen's contract, and did almost nothing in Free Agency.  Why he traded Stefon Diggs and took on tons of dead cap.  Why he decided not to move up in the draft this year for a Top 3 receiver.  And I'm sure many of the level-headed and conservative critics are applauding those moves.

The problem is that ALL of Beane's decisions are geared to help us in 2025.  But nothing has been done to give the Bills a better chance at winning the Super Bowl in 2024.  Our roster is significantly weaker than any point in the last 3-4 seasons, with much less depth across the board.  Can anyone honestly compare our talent level versus the Chiefs (again), Bengals, Texans, Ravens... or even the Jets, and think we will be a serious contender in the AFC this year?

We only get so many cracks at this thing before Allen's best years are behind him, and we seem to be content punting away this upcoming season and reloading for the future.  Maybe we can argue it was the "smartest" thing for the franchise.  But personally, I think it's depressing.

If only the salary cap and the need to replace aging players with rapidly declining skills were not a reality, well then I might see your point.  Since those factors ARE real, I believe Beane has done a nice job of embracing that reality and addressing it.  Would you prefer that we give OBJ a bag of money for a year along with a key to the city?  I would rather deal in the reality of an evolving roster.  It never stops...
