  1. Losing Byrd is going to affect the secondary, but I think Brandon Spikes should help out our run D tremendously (he was on the radio this morning, sounded super pumped about being here). Hopefully Kiko can still thrive outside, and hopefully Dareus and step his professionalism and maturity up.

I have faith Manuel is going to be a decent "learner" of the game, and things will slow down for him this year. I'm not sure that I see his ceiling as high as some fans, with regards to some awful footwork he was showing on the field last year. With the addition of Wakins, more freedom for Hackett will certainly allow for more interesting attacks, but we'll have to see how that plays out on the field.

I think we'll see Spikes as the most important on D, and Watkins for our offense.

  2. I strongly dislike the high standard that media people like Jerry Sullivan hold these athletes to. Many people hold them to a higher standard than themselves.

Cutting ties with Dareus would send a terrible message to our locker room. You can't just cut guys for speeding, or for getting a few misdemeanors. He hasnt even been suspended a single time by the NFL. The message is to WIN NOW, cutting one of the biggest pieces in our D-line completely undermines that.

  3. I'd rather keep Stevie now, and let him compete vs Mike Williams for his spot on the Bills. He'd be playing for NFL career money at that point. His value is potentially at its highest now, but if he is relegated to a 2nd, or 3rd receiver, then he will have to step up his production to get a legitimate contract in the future. I'm stoked with this pick, but we have to gauge Stevie's feelings on it and being in Buffalo before we simply ship him away

  4. OP is severely underestimating how terrible Dave Wannstedt actually was (worst coordinator in my lifetime), and although Pettine has done a great job with our defense this year, the Bills shouldn't give up on Marrone/Hackett after one season. The second year is where a lot of evaluation will be more concrete and the severe, long-lasting decision can be made then
