  1. Cam doesn't have an accuracy problem he does have a problem making decisions and or making decision too late imo.

No idea about Yo Gabba-Gabbert, I tend to think he's not really on OBD's radar.

Ponder & Dalton seem to be accurate and good decision makers. However I haven't seen a ton of Ponder tape and have only seen Dalton in a few Bowl games and a couple of regular season games.

Locker is horrible at accuracy and decision making.

Yo Gabba-Gabbert  that is funnt sh :censored:

  2. I have my doubts about Cam as well, but I also have a fear of watching him kick ass for the next 10 years

for another team. Here are my thoughts...open for debate: (only talking football here...not that icon/entertainer bs)

    1. Cam could sit behind Fitz for a year and hopefully learn Fitz two best attributes (heart and reading defenses)

If that can be taught you have a qb who is bigger, faster, stronger, and more accurate, and a cannon for an arm.

(for the record I love Fitz and what he has done for the Bills O last season, but we have all seen the throws where

he couldn't hit the broadside of a barn.)

    2. Last draft many of us wanted Tebow (me included to an extent- 2nd round)...Cam again is bigger, faster,etc... and doesn't

have that wierd throwing motion that Tebow had.

    3. Some question his ability to read defenses (fair enough) but he did learn a new offense in his one year at Auburn and led

his team to a national title.

    4. im sure i'll piss alot of people off with this one, but i still don't see all the hype with Andrew Luck. I fully admit that

i am somewhat ignorant as I wasn't able to pick up many of his games where i live...but i saw a few and youtubed it as well,

and to me it seemed like the guy did alot of check-down throws and short passes. (again i'm sure i am completely off track because

everyone thinks Luck is the second coming of Peyton Manning...i guess i just missed it)

In conclusion i am not trying to sway any opinions towards Newton, I am just confused I guess as to why someone with all the above

seems to be not getting the credability he should in this draft. It seems like the Jamarcus Russell effect. One fat lazy black qb,

has created a stigma for all qbs coming out that are black, making us focus on the qb's that were busts, instead of the successful

McNabb, Vick, Warren Moon, Randel Cunningham, etc... Why hasn't Cam been compared to any of them, instead of just Jamarcus Russel, or

Vince Young???? sorry for the rant.............Cam Haters flame away!!!!!!!!!!!

    .....flamers!!!

  3. has the Bills taking...

    1. QB Cam Newton

    2. TE Kyle Rudolph

    3. OT James Carpenter

A little different than what Gailey suggested about taking mostly defense in this draft. But at this time of year

you can't take anything people say at face value...even though our good'ol'boys seem like pretty straight shooters.

If they do decide to go with Cam in the first then this mock does make sense...giving him a TE to throw to

and an OT to protect him. Honestly I like this draft...but am concerned about the defense as well. It's unfortunate

that the one time in how many years we have the #3 pick in the draft...and there is NO clear cut, this is the guy,

type of player out there. At least not in comparison to last year with Bradford being the clear cut best QB, Suh being

the clear cut best NT. Someone else on this board also made a good point that we drafted mostly defense last year.

  4. I know it's just your opinion -- but that's expecting a lot from a guy who's never hit 60% completion rate in his career. You cannot be an elite QB in this league with a sub 60% completion rate. It's getting to the point where you need to be closer to 65 than 60.

While you don't need a football God -- you need an elite QB to win the Super Bowl. That hasn't just been a trend over the past decade, it's been a fact of life in the pass-happy NFL. And Fitz just isn't an elite QB.

That 60% rule is somewhat flawed when determining a good qb. our own trent edwards had a 65.5% completion avg in 2008 (captain checkdown), that year he had 11tds to fitz 23 (3 games less mind you).

    http://www.buffalobills.com/team/roster/Trent-Edwards/EDW720778

  5. I hate to beat a dead horse with all the Cam Newton talk....but it's the off-season and theres nothing better to do. I'll start by saying i'm not completely sold of the idea of taking a project qb with the first pick, but if theres any chance that he can pick up the mental aspects of the game through Fitz, he would be the most "complete" qb in a very long time...possibly ever. I've heard on this board several times that Fitz doesn't have the arm strength, accuracy, etc yet he is able to identify coverages and make plays with feet at times. Well Cam has superb arm strength, exceptional quickness and agility...the only unknown is whether or not he can learn the pro-style offense or not. thoughts???

  6. In case you (or any other Bills players) actually read this board...don't let a few of these "so called"

bills fans skew your opinion of a true Bills Fan. Round here we call them "trolls"...the ones that turn

everything positive the team does into a negative...etc... Real Bills fans are loyal and support this team!

We've lost 4 straight superbowls and haven't been to the playoffs in 11 years....we'll get over a few dropped

    passes.

  7. It is becoming glaringly obvious that TE is a tremendous weakness for this team. Unfortunately, besides Kyle Rudolph, it doesn't appear that there will be many good prospects available in this draft. Rudolph will likely go anywhere from mid 1st round to early 2nd round, but I highly doubt that the Bills would use their 2nd round pick on a TE. I agree with many on this message board that we need to draft defense, defense, and then more defense in the early rounds. That being said...does anyone know of any potential mid to late round "gems," or perhaps any good TE's that will be available during free agency?

I think we already have our "gem" in Shawn Nelson assuming he learns and can handle his blocking assignments. In college he was used more as a receiver and was never asked to block. As a "receiving" Tight End he is a beast...unfortunately due to his current poor blocking, he rarely sees the field, and when he does defenses know that they won't be running.

  8. What i find interesting is that we would even blame Fitz (and I am hearing it on the radio and here) for this loss.

Would people rather that the bills had stuck with Trent Edwards and his 5 yard passes and hopefully get a field goal?

    - Fitz actually takes shots at the end zone.....he tries to WIN

    - He throws the ball into tight spots

    - When you throw the ball into tight spots sometimes it gets pick

    - This is why he needs a Tight End safety valve.....Tight Ends tend to come up with balls in traffic better.

We can win with Fitz....he is respected in the locker room and is a good fit for Gailey's offense. If we could run the ball OR if we could have created turnovers we win this game.

We get NO pressure on opposing QB's....I mean ZERO that is why we lose. That and we have maybe ONE NFL caliber linebacker (and maybe two now with Merriman)

I agree 100%!!! i actually thought the OP was being sarcastic about "building around Fitz" and was going to bash him (like these other idiots are doing), so originally I came here to back up my boy Fitzy and was going to make the same point you just did......good job...glad some people on this board know what they're talking about

  9. the Bills didn't score touchdowns when DJ was coach. at least with Chan the games are interesting and fun to watch (until the last minute when your heart gets removed from your chest like that guy on indiana jones). last year our mvp was our punter and ryan lindell was our leading scorer (not sure if thats true...but its probably close). Im most likely alone on this, but I do see a better team this year than last year (although the record clearly shows otherwise). Chan is doing what he was brought in to do....improve the offense (so far he is making roscoe and steve johnson look like welker and moss and fitz is playing like favre (reach, but you get the point). The defense last year was not the teams problem, in fact most contributed the defensive problems to the offense sucking so bad and could not sustain drives, that the defense was on the field more than any other defense in the league.

i am not a big fan of Edwards (the DC) at this point (even though the D did seem to improve a little today), but Chan Gailey is still the man in my book.

  10. Kyle Williams is extremely overrated. Yeah he had a good game today, and he'll have his moments like against KC, but there is no way he is the talent we need. Too often against good rushing teams the middle is wide open for the taking because he's not a 3-4 NT.

maybe you missed the play where he was triple teamed and drove all 3 blockers back and collapsed the pocket. that in itself lies the problem...the other 6 lineman are so inept, that the offense can afford to triple team are only dangerous lineman.

kyle williams is a beast! there are not too many talented players on this team, try not to nit pick the few contributers we have

  11. You guys ever notice that almost everygame this year and last year it's either the offense that shows up or the defense...never or rarely both at the same game. Last years defense kept scores relatively low, unfortunately our offense kept our scores low too. That is what I mean by "half" of a team showing up to games. This year our offense has shown flashes of excellence hanging with NE, giving it to the dreaded Baltimore "D"...but in these games our defense was non-existant. Last week against KC, the "D" shows up and holds the #1 rushing offense to 13points, and the offense only manages 10points (what happened to 27 pt/game avg???). I guess the point im trying to make is that somewhere in that locker room is a great team. If there was a way to make the "whole" team show up each game, we would be UNSTOPPABLE....maybe not, but we would definately be playoff contenders!

(ps....you guys got to try this KoolAide  )

  12. Do we know for sure the Bills had top priority? I keep seeing posts that its last year's record they go by?

    PTR

i think your right (not 100% sure)about it going by last years records, if thats the case it put us at #9 and san fran was #13 which in theory gave us a shot at him. (san fran claimed him by the way)....so we did :censored: this up!!!!!!

whats up with gailey saying "we are always looking for ways to way to improve this team?"

  13. With Fitz playing the way he did last week against the Ravens, and Johnson showing that he is threat in the receiving game, i am expecting that KC will not be able to stack the box against us...leaving Jackson and Spiller to have a "field day" on the ground. i also think this is our first win of the season. :flirt:

i am aware that we are ranked 32 against the run and KC is #1 running the ball

just a thought not claiming to be nostradamus or anything

  14. Prior to the first couple games of the season, I was the naive fan that thought if this team could go 6-10 with jauron, and no offense...we could surely go 10-6 with an offensive minded coach like gailey. What i didn't count on was how much the defense would regress, even though many posters warned that defenses take a major step back when switching to a new scheme.

Even though our defense sucked last year we kept scores relatively low. Truthfully if we had our defense from last year and our offense this year we would have been like 12-4 (assuming you take how many points we score per game this year and how many points we allowed last year)...it's no science, but you get the point.

With that said, my expectations changed this year. I am hoping to see some players emerge into valuable assets of this team. We all know the season is pretty much shot, but some good things are starting to come out of this mess.

This topic is being beaten to death- but the o-line and Fitzy are playing well and GREAT. (no one expected this and most suggested we use the #1 and #2 draft picks to remedy this). Although it is yet to be determined...this may not be necessary, at least not with the first 2picks.

Prior to this season, and even early during the season we were almost certain that there was no talent at reciever on this team, and that Lee Evans is overpaid, #2 reciever on any other team, blah, blah, blah. Now Stevie Johnson has emerged as a legit threat, and Lee is scoring TDs again.

I was hoping that someone on defense would emerge as a true pass rushing/run stuffing threat, but this doesn't seem likely.

Very soon Spiller will live up to his hype, and be a great franchise player....bank on it.....i hope :worthy:

So to summarize....maybe we don't need to overhaul the entire roster (although I know some of you will say "there is no talent on this team"), but just pick up a few difference makers on D

  15. Don't forget #5: Steve Johnson emerging as a solid #2 and Lee Evans scoring TDs again!!!!!!!!!

I am also projecting #6: (Spiller to become the playmaker we drafted him to be) in the upcoming weeks.

...can't wait to hear all the people who are calling him a "bust" hop on the same bandwagon everyone

is on with Fitz right now!!! (not gonna lie, im on that bandwagon too. i was one of the guys calling for brohm to be put it. but right now i have alot of faith in Fitzy, and i only hope he continues to play this way).

  16. If we play like we did yesterday we could beat all those teams

KC is a bitof a wildcard im not sure i believe they are that good yet

Pitt is tough and the jets but if the vikes keep playing like they are we can beat them, Cutler threw 4 picks yesterday Detroit could be tough but im much more optimisitic about our chances now more than ever

If the defense could step it up and play, i honestly think we could beat anyone in the league (assuming our offense continues to play well).

I think we can win a few of these games if the opposing team plays defense like we do. We've proven ourselves incapable of stopping ANYBODY so far this year aside from Miami (who only scored 15 against us).

    Starting in week 2 we've given up 34, 38, 38, 36 and 37 points. At least we're consistent.

i think maybe we need to go back to that "bend don't break" defense fewell had us in.

we may have still been weak at stopping the run, but we kept the scoreboard relatively low

  17. Im not gonna pretend to know what im talking about in regards to the offensive line...but it did seem like fitz had some descent protection back there. Is it possible this line is starting to gel?

ps did anyone else see D. Bell absolutely "pancake" that guy (?not sure who it was...but he literally fell backwards and on his a**) on the first or second play of the bills offensive series?

  18. Best player overall......no running backs and no "projects". whoever can step up and be dominant thats who we need.

hopefully that turns out to be a position of need (shouldn't be hard...cant think of one position where we couldn't use improvement). i don't mean that in a negative way, and im not saying our team is terrible, we just have very few guys who other teams have to "gameplan around". so if the best available is a db (he better be the next revis) i think we have to take him. hopefully its a LT,QB,LB, or DE

  19. Maybin pick a disaster - inactive today. But what about Spiller. If you take an RB with a top ten pick, the expectation is that he is a starter in his rookie year. Anything less, for the RB position, is very troubling. Spiller can not beat out Fred Jackson? There is no way when the Bills picked him in April did they think he would not be their starter, or a major contributor by week 6.

His big contribution today was a ridiculous fumble

    SPILLER IS NOT A BUST!!!!!!!!!!!

if he was an offensive lineman and couldn't see the field, then yes he would be a bust. the fact is that fred jackson is no

slouch, and is one hell of a player. there are only a few elite players in the league that i would start ahead of fred jackson (1000 yards rushing and recieving last year). Once the game slows down for spiller...he will be a beast. On top of that your taking a guy who was a huge part of an offense at clemson, and only giving him a few touches a game. right now he is trying to go all the way on every play, because he doesn't know when his # will be called again. basically he is trying to do too much right now...that's also what happened with the kickoff return. once he becomes more comfortable and not taking every snap like it is his last, he will make better plays and be unstoppable!!!............hopefully

  20. I mentioned this guy a couple of weeks ago and the general response is that he is a good college player, but not a legitimate nfl qb. People question that he has more rushing than passing yards. The guy definately has an nfl caliber arm...it just so happens he is forced to run frequently do to both a less than stellar OL and WR's. Trust me I would take 125yds rushing do to being pressured from the d, than take 5-6 sacks a game. I said the guy is like Mike Vick with ethics.

Im not proclaiming him to be the next great nfl qb....but i do think his skills will translate to the nfl. anyone remember when we thought the "wildcat" couldn't work in the nfl?
