I'm sure they talked to him first.

My guess is that they were speaking as though he would be the starter because they were trying to explore his trade value.

The quote is that McCoy's camp said the release came out of left field.

  2. I just would have preferred that the GM and Coach did not speak publicly like he would be the starter up to the moment they cut him. I hope that there is more to the story. And I hope that the announcement did not really come out of the blue to McCoy. They should have at least talked to him first.

    That's not the whole truth.

McCarron was supposed to compete with Nate for the starting gig and he stunk the joint out and got moved to the Raiders.

JA was supposed to sit and learn until week 9 or 10 then get in the game but Peterbeater stunk the joint out so bad the kid got put in and got hurt.

Then DA and MB held the fort until JA returned.

JA was not getting the starting gig out of camp last year it wasn't the plan.

You do mean the "process" right? LOL

  4. Everyone has a right to be offended by whatever they want to. I just think this is a prime example of how silly it's gotten.

It reminds me of that scene in Bowfinger where Eddie Murphy is incensed that the number of times the letter k appears in the script is divisible by 3, and thus "kkk" appears several hundred times in the script.

Then when the guy says he knows it isn't Shakespeare he sees it as code for shake a spear and accuses him of calling them spear chuckers.

I would agree that there are silly instances when people choose to be offended by non-offensive things but I don't believe this is one. Some have already alluded to McNair's history of saying insensitive things so that's why I stated that this just revealed his mindset. I will leave the rest of this to those who this really affects, the Texans players.

Great Bills win today! I would gladly give each one of you a high-five about that!

  5. They say the difference between universities in the US and UK is that in the latter they focus on critical thinking by which they try to view a situation through multiple prisms. In the former they focus on how to spot the bigot. I see Harvard falls into that category.

Haha. Not really. I just don't think anyone should tell anyone else whether they should be offended or not. I wasn't personally offended but I do understand why a Texans player would be offended. I just tried to express that.

  6. I don't think so. Just because he didn't intentionally make a racist comment doesn't mean it didn't come from some bad place that needs to be addressed and fixed. He didn't make a mistake by giving them more credit than they deserve but less. This wasn't the first dumb thing he said. It's taken as a Freudian slip more than just a mistake. If someone called me a slave to my boss it means nothing to me. If someone called a black guy the same thing it means something different to him.

    :thumbsup::thumbsup:

How ghetto do you have to be to take offense to another man saying the word "inmate" and assume that he is saying it personally against you because he is racist?

Pretty ghetto if you ask me.

The Texans players were offended by their "owner" referring to players as inmates... Yep. That's "ghetto".

  7. whats troubling is you actually think you know mcnairs mindset. that alone proves you're out of touch with realism.

clearly you're not getting it. read the rest of the thread, etc. i don't give a **** about incarceration rates of races or any of that nonsense. if you must lower the goal post and not simply just shift it you cannot produce a solid argument.

lighten up francis, you'll never come out of life alive. just a word to the wise.

i'm walking away from engaging you, too difficutl

The fact that you don't "give a ****" tells me all I need to know.

You might as well say "Don't tell me anything is wrong with anything, I am happy in my ignorance."

  8. to get worked up over mean words is not manly or even adult.

sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me. especially not stupid words like mcnairs - even if there was nothing wrong with what he said (there wasn't). he was just stupid for even commenting on it because you SJW's are soooo quick to jump on anything you can to cry victimhood. it's adorable, really.

What's funny was that my original post was to point out why using this phase in the context of that discussion was troubling and revealing of McNair's mindset. you obviously don't agree and that's fine. Time to move on.

    My original post again:

    "Posted Today, 06:27 PM

I have not read all the replies in this thread but...

I have seen that some think that this is just a common phrase that the Texans players are reacting sensitively to.

Well, consider the fact that the meeting was called to discuss the players' protest to draw attention to racial inequality and the vast majority of protesters are black.

Who then are the inmates? Google the incarceration rates by race yourself and you will have to agree that this is not just a simple turn of phrase."

  9. is it possible to get a refund from the school? i think you should ask.

    that, or man up.

it might be cheaper to just man up.

    consider either.

i'm out of lotion and have very little else to distract me.

    btw, who are you?

Man up? Really? What has this to do with manhood?

First of all, it was the comment of ONE owner. White players also took a knee. Be objective, and correct. I didn’t call you a moron , but you seem to ask for it.

My original post said vast majority were black since you wish to jump in midstream.

  10. oh, so at harvard did they not cover language arts or reading?

a term thats been around almost 200 years is raysis because you're sensitive = yep, i learned that at harvard, too.

no, i was not there for the moon landings. i was running oil in alaska with johnny horton.

They do. That's why I know that context means everything when something is said. A lot of horrible things have been around for hundreds of years.

  11. no. it vastly reveals your prejudices.

not everyone thinks of prison and inmates and equates that to blacks.

by the way, after vietnam i went to harvard, too. i think i was in healthcare for 17 years, i can't remember. i think i'm black, too, forgot. or asian. gosh. i can't remember what i am because it matters so much on an internet message board to establish that i am a 57 year old man with 16 kids and a goat.

No. My point was that the owners were discussing the actions of black players so the "inmates" in this phrase would be those black players.

For that I was called a moron. That's all.

  12.

No, it's a simple turn of phrase.

You're one of those morons who thinks "niggardly" is racist, aren't you?

No, I am actually a Harvard educated African American who is acutely aware of what is racist and what is not.

I didn't call anyone any names here. Read my original post again. Using "inmates" and "prison" when you are expressly discussing the actions of players who the vast majority are African-Americans reveals the mindset of that person.
