A lot of it is people not understanding the danger of building in certain areas. Or if you are going to live in these high hazard places, responsible government needs to spend extra on mitigation/safety. This applies to those people living in the fire prone hills of CA, tsunami areas, flash flood zones etc. This isn’t the 1800s or some third world country where the government is clueless.

Tornados are very local and unpredictable where they will hit. Aside from building a bunker for personal safety, there is not much one can do. Dangerous flash flood areas are known based upon local climate and the geography/geology of the area. This river is known for dangerous flash floods. “Oh well… thoughts and prayers” is not a recipe to prevent future loss of life. If engineers took this approach, bridges would be collapsing all over the place.

So then because someone makes a decision to live in a area that may be known to be a higher risk area for what ever the reason is it should be the gov't responsibility to spend the extra to keep them safe from their bad decision ??

That's ALMOST like saying if you invest in a bad company that doesn't conduct business the correct or profitable way and the business fails the gov't should be there to bail you out because the business failed knowing that there was a higher chance of failure .

It’s not you, but remember the NFL is not like any normal employer/employee relationship. These guys careers are super short and they are paid at the very top of their profession. There’s little cap wiggle room, or player appetite for that matter, for keeping players on at a reduced salary.

But there are the exceptions to the rule like Brady, or Bruce, and others that still perform maybe not as high as they once did but still enough to justify their slightly reduced salaries to keep them around IMHO .

The Bills aren’t running an alumni program. It was time for Bruce, Andre and Thurman to move or retire as Bills. None of them did anything after leaving WNY….with the possible exception of Bruce who made a little noise with the Redskins.

Well maybe Thurman didn't do much but he was a Bill at heart & was just pissed because of being let go & I'm not quite sure exactly what Andre did !

But in the 3 seasons Bruce was in a Redskins uniform he had recorded 19 more sacks which made him the All time leader and helped to secure him in the HOF & would have been worth every penny to keep him around .

I for one sure would have rather had them come in a Bills uniform rather than a Redskins uniform, especially seeing what he gave to Ralph & this team in the time he was here !!!

So I agree with you on that point but there is something to be said about showing a employee that has given so much to the team or company they worked so hard for for years a little love at the end of their career, But maybe that's just me 🤔

Translation: Raising taxes on Americans boosts government revenue.

Well isn't that what some Dems/libs are calling for, raising the taxes on the wealthy from what is it (which I don't know what it is for sure) but like 39% to something even higher ?

Oh and all in the name of "FREE Health Care" and large entitlement programs & such Right ? Or is that for the "Undocumented immigrants" ?

When 1 wants to raise taxes on a certain part of the population it's the right thing to do but when the other does it it's just flat out wrong .

Great post! I especially like your analogy linking flood disaster policy with gun control policy.

MAGA’s indignation with Adam Zygus has been, dare I say, “cartoonish.” Rational people should be far more angry with public policy failures enabling these disasters than with political cartoons whose entire purpose, essentially, is to expose said policy failures in a provocative (and sometimes insensitive) manner. As you implied, the cartoonish indignation serves as a political strategy to run out the clock on a contentious issue until some other news headline captures the public’s attention. The lachrymose “too soon, but thoughts and prayers in the meantime” crowd needs to be reminded that expeditiously identifying and addressing causes of disasters saves lives from impending new disasters.

Let’s summarize these policy failures. MAGA wants to point out that we can’t make a direct connection between the central Texas floods and anthropogenic climate change. They also want to argue that recent DOGE cuts to personnel and equipment for NWS and NOAA have no direct connection with the poor flood preparedness (in Texas but also elsewhere in the country). I can agree with MAGA here on pedantic technical grounds, but the smoking gun for me is the state GOP’s repeated denials of flood alert systems for that particular flood plain region of Texas. Scientists had long been insisting upon the implementation of these comparatively inexpensive systems, but Texas GOP politicians rejected them because of foolish austerity measures plus associations with “liberal climate change ideology.” FEMA’s embarrassingly sluggish response hasn’t helped the situation, either.

It comes down to this: right-wingers believe government is inherently incompetent and inefficient. Then when they get elected, they do everything to undermine government and reinforce said philosophy. Rinse and repeat. They want to return FEMA duties to the states, but states rarely have the budget to handle major environmental catastrophes (and obviously can’t print their own money and run large deficits). To no one’s surprise, many of these same troglodytes believe chemtrails caused these floods… At some point, the top 51% of the IQ pool needs to reclaim democracy from the bottom 49% of it. If you’re far too stupid for science and rational thought, at least respect the people who aren’t.

To blame any of this on a politician or a political party is totally ridiculous ! The water rose what some 36' in 2 hrs or so ? No matter the amount of scientific equipment there still would have been a large loss of life in such a tragic situation .

Maybe a couple of lives could have been saved which yes would have been a awesome thing, any life saved is worth the minor expense of equipment especially given the fact of the way the American gov'r wastes money on people that aren't even citizens for hotels & health care and such or on giving money to other countries for some really foolish research and such .

Maybe this should be a wake up call to all of us & those that are in our gov't to put America FIRST and keep a lot of the funding that is needlessly spent on stupid crap elsewhere here for the likes of some of that equipment that could have saved lives, or maybe to help our veterans more that gave personal liberties and such for the country rather than being foolish with a lot of the monies they just give away because of a back door promises & wars .

Wouldn't it be nice if those pallets of money that were sent to Iran for their "Nuclear Peace Deal" would have been sitting there to use for this instead of god only knows what those terrorists used it for ?? Just saying that is 1 very large example of political ignorants that may have been able to have saved even a few Americans here on our own soil .

Oh so what your saying is that they are doing the same thing that they did when western NC was devastated by the hurricane that came through and wiped out so many homes and families there .

I had some family friends that came for a visit last week & FEMA was so gracious to have given some of the families that lost everything in NC a check for $450 & then there were those that got as much as $4k and many that are still living in sheds as their make shift homes so many months after that storm .

So I guess they still haven't changed enough of those people in that part of the gov't because from the last administration to this one it seems as though not much has changed .

Question - Just how loud were you B*TCHING about this when this happened under Ole Joe ??? Or is this just because you have TDS ???

Seeing as you are who you are & we know how you are it would be the later of the 2 questions !!!

This tragedy needs its own thread to discuss it. This has to be one of the saddest Tragedies I can remember. Very sad watching what's going on! Hopefully it's a thread with no bickering, the loss of life is just too sad.

Every time I see that they have found another one of the girls from Camp Mystic it just breaks my heart !! To think they never had a chance to try and save them selves because of the waters rising so fast and in the middle of the night when they were asleep .

I wish hugs could take away some of the parents pain and I will continue to send up prayers for all that were effected by this tragic event . 🙏

I don’t think things would be all that different if Ralph was still with us. I’m guessing he’d approve of the stadium deal with the County/State chipping in a good deal. And with the design itself not being over the top. He’d love having a quarterback locked in as the primary rainmaker. He’d also like the utility knife player extensions, investing in modest contracts as opposed to big splashes. But…I’m guessing he’d not have approved of the Von Miller deal whatsoever.

Especially seeing as he cut Bruce, Thurman, & Andre in 1 year Von would have been gone or possibly not even been brought in especially for the kind of money they gave him .

Pretty cool looking. Not sure what time of day this was taken, but from the look of the shadows on the items on the field, it looks to be close to mid-day. Maybe this will give people a sense of what parts of the stadium will likely be in the shade for a normal 1PM game (with the understanding that this is mid-summer with the sun almost directly overhead).

I p'd a little just watching that clip, I would have had to wipe if I was up that high ! Last time I was that high I was a  junior in high school ... 🤩

Who signed the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement, and is it still in effect?

I'm asking here but wasn't that the NAFTA agreement that Clinton put into law ? I didn't know a lot about it but at the time there was quite a bit of controversy over it but I can't remember any of the particulars, alls I do remember is that there were some that were very unhappy with what the bill did as far as trade between our country's .

Knox isn’t a sleeper; I don’t think people understand his role and importance to this offense. He’s not going to blow up the stat sheet but he plays more snaps than anyone and is a key cog.  He’s underrated but not a sleeper.

Very under rated and for a minute under utilized as far as a weapon in the offense then he caught a important pass or 2 & it seemed like Brady remembered what a weapon he was and started to use him a bit more which I hope continues this season !! GO BILLS !!!

It remains to be seen what the Bills have planned to properly say goodbye to “The Ralph” in 2025. But an inside, anonymous source with Buffalo Rumblings has reported that Buffalo is set to reveal a new alternate helmet on July 22.

What, exactly, we can expect hasn’t been shared for obvious reasons. For now all we can do is speculate whether One Bills Drive will roll out a new modern take on their current helmet, a redesigned throwback, or something else entirely. It’s believed this reveal isn’t related to the Nike-sponsored Rivalries series uniforms that the Bills are part of in 2025.”

In one of the shorts on the Bills app Josh had a all black helmet with the old standing red Buffalo on it that looked pretty sharp but I don't think that would be the one because it is a bit drastic of a change but one never knows ...

    An off-season deep dive:

Alex Smith underwent a total of 17 surgeries on his right leg after suffering a devastating compound fracture during a game in 2018. The injury occurred during a sack, and it was compounded by a severe infection called necrotizing fasciitis. The surgeries were necessary to save his leg and life, and they included debridements to remove infected tissue and limb salvage procedures

Following the initial surgery, Smith developed necrotizing fasciitis, also known as flesh-eating bacteria.

Smith spent months in the hospital and had to use a wheelchair, walker, and crutches before finally being able to walk again.

Despite the severity of the injury and the long recovery process, Smith returned to the NFL in 2020 and even started a game for the Washington Football Team.

inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as part of the 2024 class last December. The honor comes three years after earning his spot in Utah's Hall of Fame.

When NFL legend Alex Smith and his wife, Elizabeth, learned their daughter Sloane had brain cancer, they felt like their world was crashing down. “You think you have been through a lot, but when it's one of your kids, nothing prepares you for a moment like that,” the former NFL quarterback said.

    https://www.si.com/college/utah/football/alex-smith-and-wife-reveals-8-year-old-daughter-had-third-10-hour-brain-surgery

I hate cancer it has no boundaries what so ever and the fact that a huge amount of profit is from chemicals that either help to promote or actually cause the disease is even worse to think about but then when the innocents of a Childs life is brought into the equation it makes it all that much worse .

I've had 6+ people in the last 9 years that have dies from some type of cancer 1 directly from round up, it is a terrible thing to go through but as I said when it is a child the devastation you feel is much worse .

I pray that Alex daughter can over come that terrible disease and have a long life to love on her Mom & Dad !! 🙏

Dude.  Beane talked about the incident at the press conference right after they drafted him.  I thought at that point everyone knew about the incident.  Even the casual fan.  LOL.  The whole league knew about it.

DUDE . I'm not on here all the time matter of fact I was in Canada for 3 weeks and I never went on this sight so how about y'all cutting me some freakin slack I don't love , eat, sleep on two Bills drive like apparently some here do .

But god forbid I should miss 1 press conference over a month ago and in a situation that usually is a gold digger looking to make money and even in this one isn't it convenient that this is being brought up again AFTER he signed his contract JUST SAYING ...

So please excuse me I'll try to engulf my being in the Bills so I don't make the same mistake again ...

What you think comes with zero credibility at this point.

It’s not like the facts were buried in some deep, dark hole somewhere. Pretty much everyone here knew when basics of what allegedly happened, but very few skipped over that and went to personal attacks on someone you’ve never even set eyes on.

Attacks & opinions are 2 different things only those that are sensitive think that a opinion is a personal attack .

Some here think because of my opinion that I am an ass and that is their opinion and if y'all think I'm going to lose any sleep over that well you can think again . As you can probably tell I'm not as sensitive as today's world feels I need to be .

Sure Okay I didn't research or go back and check the original report from FOUR yrs ago before interjecting my opinion to make sure it was credible - MY BAD !!!

And the fact that you said "Pretty much everyone here" well I was outside that Pretty much statement .

EDIT: I guess I'll have to be more like y'all and live more each day to be informed of all things Bills .

She DID report it to authorities at the time, but they didn’t see enough evidence to support criminal charges at that point.

Beane DID know about it, they looked into it deeply and decided that the allegations were unfounded and it was safe to proceed.

If you are not aware of these points, maybe you should be spending more time reading, and less time posting.

Well I just went back and looked at the original post and there is no mention of when the plaintiff originally filed the report so you'll have to excuse me for not spending the time on every post here to research it before I put my opinion down I usually just use Thijs of ra quick fix in the morning then real life kicks in .

So me research skills need work I guess I'll have to cut out more time to sit in front of the computer and research or fact check every single article I read as to not jump to personal conclusions . But I still think the timing to move forward now of all times is impeccable just saying .

My Bad I didn't read about it because I was doing things that I needed to dos in my life so my attention was else where !!

Thank you as 1 more to point this out now I know that she isn't a gold digger it's just unfortunate timing is all .

And if you knew about this why didn't Beane know prior to him drafting this guy ?? Just asking .
