  1. Why are the patriot fans in here an why they so worried about what buffalo thinks or there fans say??? Damn This thing is all over the news! not just here. LOL I believe in a havin' Good luck and ya know balls bounce your way ect. I also believe in good play from good players. I suspect when Head Coach BB And Tom Brady are done. NE Patriots will be done

    .

  2. I totaly agree with ya Sad days in buff coming... Jets West!!

I see all of this excitement and optimism but I just can't join in. And for the most part, I agree with most of the ESPN commentators when they talk about this change. I think we made a poor decision based upon our situation and are essentially throwing away any progress we made last year.

When I think about how the season ended and where we were at in terms of progression:

    • Best record in over a decade
    • Best defense in over a decade
    • Year two of consistency
    • Declining Offense with no answer at QB

Based off of that, what did we improve?

    • We brought in a defensive minded coach who runs a completely different scheme. A coach that ran a defense that made Kyle Orton look like Aaron Rodgers. I mean, we shredded them TWICE. A defense that was terrible against the run. Also, in making this change, we are going back to playing people out of position and reducing players like Hughes to situational pass rushers
      • This is speculation, but I'm also afraid that we are going to have to waste FA money and draft picks to bring in people to fit this scheme.
    • Offensively, we brought in an offensive coordinator who had Kaep regress under his watch. And sorry, but Kaep is better than EJ. They were terrible in the passing game with legit receivers and a Pro-Bowl TE. I get that they played elite defenses, but this is the NFL and no one is a cake walk. He produces a running game, but is based upon an offensive line that probably won't be able to be reproduced here with our talent for a little while.

End of the day, while personnel is a big factor, scheme and coaching is too. When the season ended, would you have wanted the San Fran offense and the Jets defense to replace our team? I would say no 10 times out of 10.

I get it. Fresh start, new players to them. But these are big leaps of faith that we can have the running game being promised and that the final 3 years of Rex's coaching career were the anomaly compared to his first 3 years as a head coach.

Again, I want to be optimistic but we basically gutted our strength and reinforced our weakness.

  3. Over the years NE has found a lot of loop holes. some to the point the league has to change a rule or modify it. And Tom Brady is right read the rule book! But he did not say find loop holes in the rules. and what is sad is they move on not because there a great team as everyone of there fans an most of the media would lead you to believe. They got outplayed an they knew it!! Most anybody can win on a uneven playing field. Watch out Colts I don't think they have played all there cards yet!!! I think NE falls nothing short of finding new ways to use rule book against you.. I hate NE always have!! I am hoping Sexy Rexy reads the rule book an then flat beats them next year. I also wonder if they don't make SB if there might be a house cleaning in NE Just a thought.

  4. Swartz will be Head Coach Pepper Johnson will be new DC and Hackett will be given the keys to the offense (Game Plans and play calling.) This will be done to keep unity in locker room an save money. If it don't work next year they will clean house

DM will not land a head coaching job in NFL ever!! Just a Guess I really have no insight .

Terry and Kim are in training now!!!

  5. It is 100% total BS. Go read the feature story in the Buffalo News sports. From Polian's own mouth as told to Vic Carucci. I'll 100% believe that over anything else. Simply had to do with Polian not wanting to make a 5 year commitment to the Bills at his age. Had nothing to do with Marrone bad mouthing the Bills, had zero to do with money. Polian thought it was going to be an advisory role and it turned into a total overhaul. he didn't want to do it so that's that.

    True Story!!!

  6. I don't care if it's EJ or who ever Get some lineman in there with some grit If ya got an good o line running gets easier an QB has that extra 2-3 seconds This scheme will be hard to stop period. Draft O line Then O line Then O line Then O line Did I say O- Line ?

Odds are we will not find a decent veteran QB replacement for Orton to play next season. Manuel is probable as good if not better than most of the QB's that will become available this off season. The Bills can get to the next level with Manuel if and only if they put players around him that can dominate. If we can keep our defense together and get a healthy Kiko Alonzo back our defense should be dominate. Now our challenge becomes to up grade the Oline and develop a dominate running game. Build a team similar to the Baltimore team that won the Super Bowl with Trent Dilfer.

Right on my thoughts exactly I think ej could be better than Trent

  7. Being in good shape to end a season only has value if we can improve next season.

In order to do that we need better performance at the QB position.

The guy who can do that is not on the roster right now.

So like all threads at this forum (I think!) it all comes down to the QB.

Who are we going to get? How will we get him? And why is that guy going to push us into the playoffs?

In my opinion, this is the only conversation worth having on this forum at this time.

If you don't have a line who can protect what good is a QB???? Starts in the trenches I am thinking

  8. or maybe he thinks they are close and doesn't want to blow the whole thing up again. If he thinks just a few pieces are needed, then minor - not major - changes are the way to go IMO. That's where the consultant comes in. If you get rid of something as big as a HC or GM you are also changing systems, philosophies, personnel needs, again! This is hard on players and scouts if things chance every 2 years.

I agree with this let them in place finish the third year. After all if you hired new people and it flopped then ya look pretty stupid.

  9. You get the QB some protection schemes that work against these great defences . I don't get the fuss is about Offence Linemen Offence Lineman That's what ya need. Woods was pushed into backfield several times I don't get it. Rodgers an most these guys you talk about that are good. They are!! Because the line blocks and keep players away!!! Put AR, TB, PM, Drew Bree's behind that line we have Would get ugly for them fast. Our First 3 picks Should be LG RG RT or Tight End Draft all Offence. My biggest fear Ortin gets hurt ej comes in cold gets hurt shm They need protection at least 4 secs.

  10. Yeah, ok...everyone is down on the Bills QB's, and justifiably so, I suppose. But the real question is, who do you replace them with? Are Bills fans going to tolerate another rookie? What free agent would be available that won't have as many questions and concerns as Orton & Tuel.

Sure, I would be a little excited if they went after Cutler, because I think he is better than either of the guys we have..but he will likely bring his own issues to the table, least of which would be a fan base that is looking for any reason they can to fry QB's. Just don't think Cutler and Buffalo would be a good mix...I am not sold on Kaepernick or RGIII at this point, either. Who does that leave? Matt Schaub? Brian Hoyer? Are any of these guys an upgrade over what we have?

    NO

    Fix the freekin O-Line

  11. Coaches coach Players play Players don't or can't excute coach pulls hair out of head LOL The system is not broke. the O-Line is I don't care who you put in at QB line don't protect he gets hammered. I would like to see DM get his last year in an give him some o line players maybe a top flight Tight end. Not sure what to do about QB If Ortin had that extra 2-3 seconds he can fling with the best of them. Maybe that ARZ qb who's throwing some lazers right now. But If they decided to put Swartz in I would be ok with that.

Just some thoughts. probley none of which would happin. I do think that this team this year was close to being a very dangrous under the radar team that if they made the playoffs would have surprised other teams.

This is the best Bills team in ten years. Hamstrung by crappy quarterbacking, they will finish 8-8, the best record in 10 years.

Progress is being made; the roster is better. We could be in contention next year with the right QB.

I don't want to start over again with a new coach and staff. I like Whaley.

Bring everybody back, get a QB and let's go!

I totaly agree with it But would add that crappy QB play goes hand in Hand with Crappy O-Line play UGH!!!

  12. You must be a defense attorney.

Here's the problem: they NFL is defining a pass as the player moving their arm in a forward motion while holding the ball. Manziel was going to pass.(maybe)

He didn't actually throw a pass by any rational person's understanding of the words "a pass" - only by the NFL's convoluted definition.

IMO - If the player is tackled while still in possession of the ball, that should be credited to the defenders who blew past the O-line and caused the disruption. They did their job. The guy holding the ball didn't. Who can argue with that?

So, with the idiocy of this rule, interpretation, or whatever - shouldn't the NFL at least be consistent? When a RB has possession of the ball and he's being gang tackled and one of the defenders wrenches the ball from his hands, shouldn't that be a non-fumble as well?. Clearly, he intended to keep running. :D

Bad call it was a fumble clearly!!!! but how about this : If it was in fact what they say is an attempted incomplete pass the ball landed way behind the line of play which therefore becomes a backwards latteral and a live ball touchdown anyway......... How about that???
