His age is the biggest plus for Diggs...also his speed, other than that he doesn't do anything better than Thielen.

He's universally regarded as one of the best route runners in football.. makes defenders look silly. Thielen is also very good in that area, but it's easier to create separation in the slot, where Thielen does most of his work.

I don't have the numbers to back this up (aka don't feel like going back), but IIRC Thielen gets shut down in games Diggs hasn't played over the past few seasons, whereas Diggs still put up pretty big numbers in games that Thielen missed.

All in all - definitely worth a 2nd rounder to find our #1 WR.. then we can take a CB/Edge at 22 to really round out the roster.

  2. This being a bad pick and Beane knowing what he's doing are not mutually exclusive. He should not have gone after Yeldon last week if his plan was to go RB round 3. Winovich was sitting right there and edge is arguably a bigger need than RB with Hughes and Lawson in walk years, though we do need playmakers.

As for the player, I do like him. Just thought it was a reach and that you can get contributors in later rounds with one of our multiple 5ths.

    Yep, Johnson's been balling.

Quietly, the Bills have rebuilt their defense. It's not finished yet, but a core of Edmunds, Milano, Philips, White, Hyde, Poyer, and Johnson (with Murphy and Star as nice veteran additions through free agency) is very promising.

I do agree that we're a CB away from a top 5 secondary, but best in the league?

Peters, Talib, Joyner, Johnson for the Rams or Ramsey, Bouye, Gipson, Church from the Jags might have something to say about that.

While I think they Bills are well on their way and probably top 10 in that category, let's take off our fan glasses here.

The Ravens (J Smith/Humphrey, Weddle/Jefferson), and the Chargers (Hayward/King/Williams, Addae/James) are shoe-ins. The Titans, Jets, and Vikings (Been bad, but have arguably the best safety and corner in the game), Eagles are probably better too.

    Excited to be wrong though.

  4. So I got screwed by my playoff format and had to play a 2 week matchup for the championship, and of course I won't be able to start Lev Bell or Zeke because their teams aren't playing for anything, so I have to improvise:

QB: Luck (JAX) or Jameis (@CAR), Bucs need to win to have a chance so Jameis will play the whole game, not sure if I should worry about them benching Luck

RB: No Zeke or Bell, and hoping Melvin Gordon will play but I doubt that too. McFadden (@PHI), Fitz Touissant (CLE), Jacquizz Rodgers (CAR), K Dixon (@CIN), D Booker (@OAK). Need to start 2

  5. I would appreciate your help thinking through who to start in the playoff. (Yes you, if you are reading this.) My league is .5 PPR

    My locks

    QB: Matt Ryan

    RB: David Johnson, LeSean McCoy

    TE: Kelce

    K:Gostkowski

I need two WRs and a WR/RB Flex

    Frank Gore - @MIN

Sammy Watkins - vs. CLE - I thnik he is one of the stronger plays, but am worried about having too much riding on the Bills after such a flat game last week.

    Steve Smith - vs. PHI

Michael Thomas - Very likely returning from a foot injury to play @ARI. Will they put Patrick Peterson on Thomas?

    Dontrelle Inman - vs. OAK

    Brandon Marshall - vs. Miami

    Gilislee

    Defense - pick one

    Miami @ Jets

    Broncos @ NE

I would go with Sammy, Gore, and Thomas. Matchup doesn't favor Gore but he always seems to be good for 18+ carries and redzone opportunities, so he's gotta be in your lineup on sheer volume alone. I would go with Sammy because of the matchup and the feeling that they're going to tell Tyrod to let it loose to see if he can actually pass, I generally hate starting 2 players' on the same team but anything goes against the Browns. Thomas is frankly just better than Marshall or Inman, and feel he will get targets as the Saints try to get their offense back on track.

    D - Phins.

Now I have questions of my own.

    QB - Carr @SD or Ben @CIN?

RB - Howard and Gurley are locks (Presuming Gordon doesnt play), also have D Booker but he hasn't done anything

    WR/Flex (3): Cooper @SD, Hilton @MIN, Michael Thomas @ARI, Sammy CLE, Rishard Matthews @KC

TE - Graham is presumptive lock but also have Ertz

D - Ravens PHI, Texans JAX

    .5 PPR

  6. I know its only Dec. but I've lost faith in TT.

Cousins a UFA at seasons end, he has better stats then TT, and we have better weapons when healthy here.

    thoughts....

Better weapons than them? I'd swap our receiving corps with their in a heartbeat. Jordan Reed is the best TE in the league not name Gronk, and they've built one of the most balanced group of receivers in football: A deep-threat in Desean, a possession guy in Garcon, and a slot receiver who's quietly breaking out this year in Jamison Crowder

  7. Could use some advice in 2 leagues:

    1. .5 PPR 12 team

QB: Jameis (NO) or Luck(HOU) - Considering Jameis but don't want to over think it

    RB/Flex are Bell, Gordon, Zeke

2 WR: Benjamin (SD), Cooks (@TB), Sammy (PIT)

TE: L. Green (@ You know who), Delanie Walker (DEN)

    2. PPR 10 team

RB: Gordon is a lock. Choose 1, or 2 if one should be flex: J Howard (@DET), T Riddick (CHI), Ingram (@TB), Rawls (@GB)

WR: Julio a lock. Choose 1, 2 if flex (though I normally put a RB there): Tyrell Williams (@CAR), Sammy, D Moncrief (HOU)

Thanks for the help, best of luck to all

  8. A few Questions:

    1. Do I start Russell Wilson @NO or Luck hosting KC? Love Wilson's matchup but I may be overthinking it by sitting luck.

    2. .5 ppr: Gilleslee or Allen Hurns @TEN at Flex?

    3. .5 ppr: Michael Thomas hosting Seattle, Jeremy Maclin @IND, or Jordan Howard hosting Minnesota at Flex?

    Would appreciate any help

  9. Just to be clear, cutting Stevie results in a lot of money in dead cap space.

I also believe the best we would get for him is a 3rd round pick.

Why are people so eager to take a position that looks to be one of our strongest with good depth and making a need? People talk about having a #1 WR like these big physical specimens grow on trees.

Why can't we have good route runners that get open like Stevie and Woods. Have burners in Goodwin and Graham. And just draft an athletic TE to create another problem over the middle?

That sounds like a better recipe for success. But what do I know?

    Mike Evans. Geterdone

  10. Week 2 of the fantasy playoffs is among us and I have options for 3 different positions.

Ryan Mathews vs. Car/Ben-Jarvis Green-Ellis vs. Phi: Leaning toward BGE

Peyton Manning vs. Balt/Matt Ryan vs. NYG: Not sure

Bears DST vs. Packers/ Dolphins DST vs. Jags: Not sure

    Thoughts?

  11. Is this really a career ending hit?

I know when it comes to matters of the brain (pun intended) that you...just...never...know.

BUT...have we seen quarterbacks bounce back from worse? Uh...yeah.

    youtube.com/watch?v=yjpANEVexhY

That would be 15 yards in todays game.. It wasn't how hard he was hit, it was his heads contact on his pile-driven route to the ground that did it.

  12. I seem to remember a gimpy knee holding back Michael Crabtree 2 years ago.. Just because he's not at full strength doesn't mean he wont have a good NFL career.. Da'quan Bowers is the elite pass-rusher we've been waiting for and it would be stupid if he's under our noses and we don't take him.

  13. 2 Years ago, Haynesworth was claimed as "the best DT in the league". Obviously the disaster in Washington speaks for itself but the Bills cant stop the run. Williams also prefers to play 4-3 DT so why not make our best player happy?

Now unless Haynesworth doesnt want to play in the NFL again, he must become humbled by this catastrophe. If he accepts that what he did was wrong, then why not give him another chance (sorta like that Eagles QB).

Granted, if this becomes a nagging issue that he doesnt fess up to, by all means stay away

  14. We beat two of the worst teams in the league.

I'm not prepared to say the corner is turned yet. If we win against the Steelers, I'll say corner turned.

Just look at the Chiefs. At 6-4 leading their division, after going 4-12 last year. They went into week 11 at 2-7 playing the then defending champ Steelers. The Chiefs played a very tough game and finished on top 27-24 in OT. They seem to have turned the corner and we have a similar situation (going in 2-8 week 12). Deja Vu?
