  1. Shanny always struck me as a squeaky clean little sot. I lived in a suburb of Denver called Cherry Hills Village that was perfect for squeaky clean little sots and he will probably live in some superficial squeaky clean suburb in VA filled with transients like him. Buffalo is not for everybody and it certainly isn't for insecure little sots who need the superficial trappings individuals like Shanny (and it sounds like the rest of his clan) undoubtedly need in order to feel comfortable about themselves. Enjoy your commute on the Beltway big fella!
  2. If you really want an insight into Buffalo when it was at its cross-roads in the 1960's, read "Power Failure" by Diana Dillaway. She was part of the Nichols/Buffalo Seminary, Buffalo Club, Saturn Club, Driscoll's Dancing School, Trinity and Westminster social circle that ruled this town. Also considered--but blocked by the old guard bankers and lawyers for fear of losing control--was the UB campus now in Amherst being built downtown as well, too.
  3. He owned a Henry's at the corner of Grant and Forrest, too. He spoke at a sports banquet at my school (Campus School located on the Buff. State campus) and was great. Butch Byrd, for what it's worth, lived in our apartment building and was a great guy, too.
