  1. While I respect and like Nix, I'm sure the interviewee is Mike Holgrem (sp?)
  2. I live in Philly now, but was born and raised in Rochester - still have family in Spencerport, Utica and New Hartford (basically Utica). I love to visit, and the cost of living is much lower than Philly. Upstate NY ain't so bad...I still consider it home.
  3. It was nice to pencil him in at RT, but he has never been someone we could count on. Bills still have Meredith or Bell to play RT, they do need a starting LT with #9 pick and can either use a FA or later draft pick for RT. This is not a big deal...offseason is going well with new coaches - nothing but excitement going forward with the draft...we finally have some new football people making decisions.
  4. Said it before, will say it again...Vick is better then ANYBODY currently on the roster and he will come cheap and motivated. Why not trade a 4th or a 5th for him and give him a one or two year incentive laden contract? What to the Bills have to lose????
  5. So I spelled a no-name TE's name wrong, and in my opinion that is a pretty good line. Who on the current roster is better then Vick? Edwards? Fitz? Brohm -- how would you even know unless he's your cousin? Vick went to pro bowls - he ran for 1,000 yards one year (or pretty damn close). Randall Cunningham was thought to be a one-trick pony as a running QB...he proved everyone wrong in Minnesota and put together some good years after his prime
  6. As I've said he's not Peyton Manning or Donovan McNabb has a true QB, but when you add his rushing ability he is a GREAT NFL player...he carried a crappy ATL team to the NFC Championship not long before he was suspended. Edwards sucks, Brohm is the great unknown, Fitzpatrick is a back-up at best (with a misshapen head - have you seen him without his helmet???) and the draft is a crapshoot...at least we would know what we're getting with Vick -- Gailey won with Kordell Stewart when he was at Pittsburgh...Vick is much better then Kordell "what's growing on my face" Stewart.
  7. No, I live in Philadelphia -- he's committed to prove the naysayers wrong - and he is MUCH better then anybody on the roster now.
  8. I agree that he is a POS as a person...that doesn't mean he wasn't a great player in the NFL. Nobody as seen enough of him since his return to know what he has left in the tank. For a 4 or 5th round draft pick...I think it's worth the risk. Worst case scenerio he is a "slash" type of weapon they use 5-10 plays a game. It's a win win.
  9. Plus a couple of other (simple) moves can get the Bills headed back to the playoffs... Based on only his athletic ability and track record (not his personal baggage) Vick is twice as good as any QB the Bills currently have on the roster. Although never Peyton Manning or even a Donovan McNabb, Vick was a good QB - a great QB when you factor in his running ability. Now, he is humble and eager to prove to the world that he can come back and be a great starting QB again in this league - and he'll come cheap and motivated. With Vick as QB, you draft a tackle with the #9 pick and place him at RT (to protect Vick's blindside)...rest of OL sets up like this: LT - Leveitre LG - Incognito C - Hangartner RG - Wood Pretty good offensive line...especially if you make this a RUNNING team. With Vick, Jackson and Lynch (who best be motivated or he'll get shown the door with a new regime) the Bills could have one of the top 5 rushing attacks in the league. To round out the offense - pick up a FA #2 possesion receiver (lose J.Reed) so reciever depth (TE too) looks like this: Lee Evans - 1 FA - 2 Roscoe Parrish (new "offensive" minded coach can bring out his potential??) - 3 Hardy - 4 Johnson - 5 Shawn Nelson (TE) Derek Schunamen (TE) Use the rest of the draft on the front 7 now that they're changing to 3-4 Defense - NT and OLB especially - secondary is already top 10 in NFL with good depth. Front 7 can line up like this: K.Willams (LE) Draft Pick/Free Agent(NT) Stroud (RE) Maybin (OLB) Poz (ILB) Mitchell (ILB) Draft Pick/Free Agent (OLB) Call me crazy but this team looks pretty good on paper and can play with all 3 teams in the division...
  10. John Clayton just made his report and mentioned within the next 36 hours Gailey could be named head coach...Wikipedia also has him hired by the Bills 1/19/10 - so it must be true.
  11. I'm from Rocha cha ha, currently living in Philadelphia and would personally love McNabb in Buffalo. He is a great QB, who has done well most of his career with 2nd rate WR's (not counting TO and current WR's). If we got the offensive line together our offense would jump right into the top 15 in the league and would help us immediatley compete for a legitimate shot at the playoffs. Kolb is a good young QB and has been groomed well behind McNabb a la Rodgers under Farve...he'll be fine once he becomes the starter.
  12. Billick is a good coach and definite upgrade over anything the Bills have had since Wade (gulp) Phillips. Billick is a good offensive coordinator but when he went to Baltimore and had the pieces in place for one of the most dominating defenses of all times he was smart enough to change his philosophy to suit his team's strengths. I'm not a Billick "lover" but would be happy if we got him...Cowher ain't coming to B-Lo...not in this lifetime.
  13. I see what your saying...but you draft players that fit the system the coach wants to play. If Cowher, Modrak and Guy were all on the same page this could only mean better things for the future. Even before Ben came along in Pittsburgh Cowher was a great coach, who consistently brought his team deep into the playoffs (and to one super bowl with NEIL O'DONNELL!!!!)...but even a great coach needs a great QB to finish the job (for the most part, T. Dilfer is one exception to the rule).
  14. Although I believe it's all a pipe dream...Hiring Cowher would immediately change the culture of the team. They would become a tough, hard nosed team that runs the ball and plays great defense.
  15. I just want to go back to 1988...the beginning of the best era of Bills football. (Wearing Ruby Red Slippers) "There's no place like home, there's no place like home"
  16. I agree. This is the most excited I've been for a Bills game since Week 1. Oh god, I just puked in my mouth remembering how much that hurt. I think I need to go back to therapy.
  17. If they don't make the playoffs does it really matter? All it means is a worse draft pick. I think the only shot at the playoffs is winning the division - that could only happen If the Bills win out (Huge IF) and we get some help from the Pats opponents or Brady breaks his leg. If they finish 8-8 it just makes me sick to think about the first NE game and Cleveland game...
  18. Like many, I think a strong GM and Front Office is more important then HC. Marv wasn't going to the Hall of Fame before he met Polian: Kelly, Thomas, Reed, Bruce, Bennett, Talley and a great offensive line
  19. I hate Marshall Faulk. He was a great player, but is usually a Bills hater on NFL Network. He just said on the pre-game that Fewell is the right guy for the job, should be the head coach of the Bills...because he can motivate players (Fewell was a coordinator with the Rams teams Faulk was on). I don't buy it. If Bills Finish 8-8 or god forbid 9-7 (remember when 9-7 would be a disappointment? Neither do I) then yes, I would agree he deserves a shot but there is a lot of football left and when the Bills finish 7-9 yet again Fewell won't even find a DC job in the NFL next year. He'll land a job, but as a secondary coach not DC.
  20. That's exactly it... ...that being said I wouldn't mind seeing Brohm play a few games at the end of the season.
  21. Nice line. I wouldn't mind him so much if they first revamped the whole FO and got a strong, proven GM to head the football side of things, let Brandon stay on the business side of things. Polian built the Bills teams of the 90s, not Levy.
  22. Hopefully they don't need to go QB in 1st round... If the Eagles don't make the playoffs this year, there is talk that they will look to move McNabb and start the Kevin Kolb era. If that is the case i would trade "Beast Mode" and a 4th round pick for McNabb in a heart beat...He's got another good 5 years left in the tank and needs a change of scenery. He would be the best qb (by far) the Bills have had since Kelly retired. I know this is a stretch, but a boy can dream. Can you image McNabb in a Bills Uniform??? Sure up the O-line, draft a quick running back to back up Freddy with Evans, Hardy and Nelson has weapons the Bills could be relevant pretty quick. McNabb has done well with lesser weapons in the past. Shannahan and McNabb would be a dream come true...I think I'm aroused at the thought.
  23. They almost had me jumping back on the bandwagon after the opening drive of the third quarter...O looked good, D was hanging around. I had visions of winning today, next week and going back to Buffalo to face the Dolphins (i think) at 5-5. I thought...Maybe, just maybe a couple of weeks away from the game lit a fire under Trent Edwards. As soon as that flicker of hope started growing they quickly reverted back to form and crapped the bed. I love Bills football (well, used to at least), now I just want the season to be over so they can start rebuilding yet again.
  24. This team has so many problems, Trent is just one of many. That being said...I wouldn't be surprised if they win the next two games (maybe even three) to get everyone excited again and then find away to rip our hearts out one more time this season (Click on link). Kal-i-ma to you all...
