  1. The funniest or saddest thing about Reed is he was a former RB and all the talking heads would talk about his run after catch ability. I can't recall even one broken tackle run after the catch play in his entire career.

i recall quite a few for his limited play time go watch miami buf second meeting 2007 i billieve. jp to reed TD

  2. its not sad, we kept him because he was serviceable and knew the team and playbook, good blocker, but lots of guys who can still play dont get picked up when teams would rather develop a young guy w better measurables, exactly what we're doing with hardy this year. He may suck but hes got the job, maybe reed will be someones 5th receiver after injuries. heck we had Bill Brooks his last year and he was awesome, next year out of football.

dont put him down or the Bills, this happens with tons of players

  3. After watching the bills First day of mini camp video alone, I became so excited and relieved, just to see new faces, hear new philosophies and not see the old child like throwing motions of a previous QB.

I cant believe we all sat back so long and tried to explain away and justify to ourselves moves like...

    Hiring DJ

    Drafting Whitner at 8

    Drafting Mcargo in the first

Over paying kelsay walker and dockery when no one else would have.

losing players to injury over and over and keeping the same strength cond. coach

    Drafting Maybin at 11

Letting Mckelvin return the KO after fumbling the previous one (did no one else notice this?)

Keeping TO as a starter all year

Keeping TE as a starter as long as they did

Keeping DJ as long as they did

I love now seeing new attitudes from bigger, better players who actually are right for their position and not undersized "high motor guys" or "character issue" guys

We actually went from one extreme to the other. We used to have High character guys who might be a little under talented, to low character guys, who just sucked.

I actually like hearing Chan talk, he sounds intelligent and I love that he knows offense.

I think for too many years now, yes years, weve been looking for the answer from our players only, its about time we see what a real coach can do. We were 7-9 so long with Mauron. Now we should be 2 games better due to Gailey alone, and if we can find a qb, even if its still fitz, I see a 9-7 future for us. F&^* the Jets, we always beat them and the fish. Maybe we can score more than 7 points against the Pats too.

Lastly I would like to say that TE revealed in an interview that he prays during the games. He said each time he tries a pass over ten yards he says something to the effect of," Ok mommy, Trenty is going to try a real pass now, Im going to step into it and throw it real hard like you showed me mommy, ok...here it goes...OH F%*$!!!"

  4. None of this explains why Trent went from being an effective QB to suddenly sucking.

I blame the concussion, but he played well in the San Diego game. Then he suddenly started throwing picks and lost his confidence. I thought Holcomb was bad. I have never seen anyone check down as much as he does.

Don't think Chan can rehab this guy.

Really? did you read the thread starter? It fully explains why.

  5. The "good ones" like Flutie, Bledsoe, vanPelt, .......really? ...............Really?! Does anyone remember Bill Walsh? He was only the complete, ultimate authority on quarterbacks. When Edwards was drafted, he called Marv Levy personally to express his high opinion of Trent. Obviously he saw some type of potential there. I say this is the year Trent turns it around.

one time my mom said I could be president. How does bill walshes "PREDICTION" still come up???? he was obviously wrong and being a homer for stanford. I guess TE has been really good since Bill walsh said he should be.... jesus christ!

  6. Final thread, I don't think so. For me, I will always remember the Trent Edwards of the 2008 season. The opening day game against Seattle was a game to behold. All was good until Arizona when he got hammered. I like Edwards and think he can be a good quarterback. Your analysis could be spot on, I just don't feel qualified to venture an opinion.

The question will be how he does in camp because there are three others looking for the job. (Two have a chance, Fitz and Brohm). So we will see.

The coaching staff will have their hands full. I am glad I will not have to make the call.

    :nana:

his stats were mediocre in that seattle game, he threw one good pass to robert royal for a TD, and if you watch it, he loads up and you can see, he was trying his very hardest to throw a REAL pass, the rest were all dump offs except for Ryan denneys td pass, a pass edwards never could throw, how was it a site to behold,??? it was the normal Trent edwards routine, by the way, He had a horrible completion percentage until the second half, I think it went to half time 10 -3 or something like that because of dennys TD

  7. If you can't understand the importance of having a good pass catching TE to work the middle of the field or bigger bodied WR's which in case you haven't noticed is exactly what our new GM is trying to do than I'm not sure what to tell you buddy.

Young/developing QB are very reliant on their TE and if the Bills had a clue they would have realized that a long time ago.

thats ONE factor that HELPS but doesnt make or break a QB, how were his shoes by the way? were they laced up properly? DId he have a good breakfast before all the games? Did he buy the right douche for himself? I cant stand guys who learn one relationship in football and try to magnify it like its the "secret" to everything

  8. So your negative post/thread is predicated on the fact TE didn't throw across the middle.

How about having a GM that understands the importance of a pass catching TE with size and WR's that aren't midgets.

Ok so TO was a midget? and Evans and others like desean jackson, eddie royal and steve smith cant play???you are mental midget

  9. Just so everyone can understand why Edwards was good and now he isnt. First, it is not for any of these reasons

    1.coaching

    2.O-line

    3.Concussions

It is plain and simply this....

Before Edwards, Loseman never threw underneath, he loved the deep ball and his outlet pass was his infamous 2 yard out pattern to a receiver. I remember countless 3rd and longs going for two yards or incomplete. We all said "why dont we involve the backs more" Thanks JP

When Trent came in, He QUICKLY got rid of the ball to Tight ends and backs. But then we all remember saying he COULDNT go deep, that was the arguement back then. Then once or twice a game he would go deep sideline, hit Evans, and we were all relieved. We thought he was a complete QB. Then we started losing, we blamed all of these things that we blame now but wasnt he 4-0 or 5-1 witt he same Oline, coaches and even a concussion? How did he do so good against SD that year right after the concussion? Maybe it was game 6 that year that defenses took away the dump off and then look what happened. I challenge anyone to watch his head in a game, he looks right, looks left, and then looks for the back. His reads are fake. He never stays on the reciever even when WIDE OPEN, watch his head on your Tivo. Even TO called him out on this, saying, "hes not reading the F'ing defense" I heard him say this from the sideline. Poor TO must have waited a long time to say this for fear of being called a cancer.

I always thought, even when we were winning , wheres the pass across the middle? Why does he always throw short? Whats wrong with him?

Then other teams saw it, and Edwards became worthless. He proved it against Cleveland in his 3 int game, or was it 4? He couldnt pass across the middle. He is mindless and even worse, Hes cocky! He acts superior and as if hes good. What a total loser he really is, who just got lucky that he got on a patient Bills team that seems to give every QB three years to prove how bad he really is like Rob Johnson and JP loseman, but gets rid of good ones after the same amount of time-sorry Flutie,Bledsoe,Van Pelt.

  10. Byrd made the pro bowl on the merits of one skill: catching interceptions. As of now he's very far from being one of the best safeties in the game. Kyle Williams also made the pro bowl but he's a better fit at 4-3 DT and it's debatable whether he can make the transition to the 3-4 defense (especially if they plan on making him a NT).

What akm0404 may have meant was that the Bills have no players that are one of the best in the NFL at their position besides our punter. There are no players on the Bills that are worthy of building an offense or defense around. Hopefully CJ Spiller is that guy, maybe not.

evans is a top 3 deep threat

  11. I don't understand why there is so much negativity and pessimism about this team. We had a bad year last year. We had 20 guys on IR, including a bunch of quality starters (db's, lb's, most of the OL, qb, etc) and a first round pick who was playing out of position.

We had a coach who in perhaps the worst move in the history of the team, decided to go with a no-huddle offense that accomplished absolutely nothing. He fired the OC a week before the season and cut the LT. His strength and conditioning coach was a disaster.

    That regime is gone.

I believe that Trent Edwards can be coached back into the player we once trusted...the guy who was 4-0 two years ago, and the guy who had New England on the ropes in the opener last year. That guy is in dire need of a coach with a plan, and now he has one.

We drafted the most explosive player in quite some time, and we also got a bunch of players who will help to make the 3-4 a tough scheme to run against. We already have a great defensive backfield. Now we will have a better defense that you cannot run against.

We played just about everybody tough last year, including New England twice. We beat the Jets. Despite having all those injuries and a coach with no direction, we still managed to have some quality performances on the field.

This will be a playoff team.

I agree with alot but the part about Edwards having new england on the ropes is a joke, Our defense including Schobel was why they were on the ropes, Every game Edwards ever won or almost won, was because he threw underneath to the RB and the other teams hadnt seen this in 3 years from us. He never once put the ball over 10 yards in that game, and only the screens got any real yardage, Edwards is a scared baby who hopes and prays before every game that they wont cover the running back.

  12. Great Post. Now we don't need to bother reading the board. You have pretty much covered everything that people will B word about. Of course they will find other things, or just expand on bitching about those things that you already covered. Made me laugh and usually this board just pisses me off.

Thanks, I just thought it might be funny to see what we all say over and over again....

  13. Heres what basically all posts will say more or less til the season starts and we can do some real bitching!...

    spillers going to be good

    troups going to be good

    trade lee evans

the 3-4s going to be good

    Maybin maybe good

    Maybins going to suck

    It wasnt trents fault

    It was trents fault

    our oline has wiener names

    Nix is doing good

    Jauron looks dead

    fitzpatrick has a big head

    Brohm should start

    brown should start

    trent just sucks

    Marshawn will stay

    Marshawn will go

    Marshawn stole my twenty bucks

  14. I've seen a lot of QBs being considered or on the roster, bashed because they're "never going to be Drew Brees." I was in San Diego for the early 2000s, and I remember Brees' first few years. He wasn't that great.

The Chargers acquired Rivers and were hanging onto Brees because Rivers held out. That's when Brees exploded.

This is my long way to say that maybe the book shouldn't close on Brohm or Edwards yet.

    http://armchairgm.wikia.com/Drew_Brees

so brees totally sucked and only threw underneath for 3 years?? i remember him, he threw pretty passes deep and mid range and I thought, "he seems pretty good" I never thought that watching trentative.

  15. If Edwards went 11-5 next year I'm afraid your head would explode. He may not be a good NFL QB but I saw him play in college and get beat up unmercifully , he is not a coward. Let's put you in their for one series and see who the tough guys is .

so he couldnt figure out who to throw to in college either? hes a coward for not risking the throw and waiting for the dump off, every read he makes is fake, hes just pretending, waiting for jackson, no matter what the defense does, open or not, hes waiting....always waiting, because he knows he cant play.

  16. For the new season, the more I look at the draft, the better it looks for us. We got...

    1. An instant starter/points producer in Spiller. this is the anti marshawn and what we hoped for from T.O. last year.

    2. A much bigger front 7 , wont it be nice to see guys run into our line and....stop!.

    3. A new receiver who will a. fight for balls, b. track and move to the ball, c. catch the ball...all the things T.O. couldnt do.

    4. A quick realization that edwards is truly a coward and POS with a lame delivery and an attitude on top of it. Hi, anyone can throw a dump off. Sad to say but even RJ had more courage. what a douche.

with all the new toys and a real OC, even Fitz could win us 9 games. I want to go 4-12 though so we get a QB next year.

  17. Becauase Chan Gailey is still laughing his ass off at the POS OC's this team has had over the last 5 years. He like all of us has no idea if Trent or Brohm can be a quality QB based on the film he has to evaluate. He does know Fitzy sucks though because you can't teach accuracy of which he has none. Gailey most likely thinks he would rather develop/work with two QB's that have at least been in the NFL a couple years as opposed to a rookie.

everyone rips Fitz, he played better than trent did, showed that he could make mid range and deep throws, came up big in tight situations....all the things kitty couldnt do. And you say hes not accurate now?? I dont remember too many misfires. Are you one of the people who say Lee evans drops balls too??? wasnt he in the 60's in percent completion?? Jesus. what do you want? I know , lets give him 3 years to develop like we did Loseman and trentative and then defend him after he loses 3 times as many games as he wins.

  18. Nothing against Spiller, who I think is a VERY good running back, but I hope he can create his own holes.

    Also: so long, Marshawn.

isnt the run game mostly made via the guards and center? we would have only added 1 left tackle, thats more of a passing improvement, I dont think the run game hinges on a left tackle, if anything well need to pass less with more TDs through the running game, marshawn always ran straight into the defender.
