I don't believe him. If I were in Beane's shoes. These are my offseason moves to win the Super Bowl
Some of these numbers may be a little off, but it's the best I could find. This is what they were paid or are expected to be paid in 2021 with their cap hit.
Cut/Lose
Murphy (8m) Morse (10m) Jefferson (8m), Norman (5.8M) Winters (3m) Kroft (5.4), Brown (9m) Yeldon (1,9m) Addison(10m), Butler(7.8M) Milano (10m) Nsekhe (5.2m) Star (8M) Devin (1.1)
TOTAL 85 MILLION This is a lot of DEAD weight.
ReSign
Feliciano 7m/3yrs (21) or Williams 7M/3years (21)
Josh Allen 35M/7 years (245)
TOTAL 42M
FA Signings:
David Andrews (C) NE. 6M/4yrs (24)
Trey Hendrickson (DE) NO or Kerry Hyder (DE) SF 8m/4years (32)
Bud Dupree (OLB) Pitt or Shaq Barrett (OLB) TB, or possibly Leonard Floyd (OLB) LAR or Matt Judon (OLB) Balt. 15m/3 years (45)
Mike Hilton (CB ) Pitt. 6M/4Years (24)
Blake Bortles (QB2). 1.5M/2 years (3)
Rob Gronkowski (TE) TB - 6M/2years (12)
Make a run at Gronk to come home and win a SB for Buffalo. We have the talent to finally lure him back. He's only 32.
TOTAL 42.5m
TOTAL SIGNINGS 84.5M
Seems like a plan like this could be doable.
DRAFT
Rd #1 (30) Najee Harris or Etienne (RB) or Gary Rosseau or Quincy Roche (EDGE) or Zaven Collins if we can't sign one of the OLB's above.
Rd #2 (62) Walker Little (RT) if he's healthy or Alex Leatherwood (T)
RD#3 (93) If we don't take an RB in Rd 1, go after Trey Sermon or the hometown BUFF Patterson. If we take RB @30 then Pat Freiermuth, TE, Penn State if he drops
This team could take the AFC if they stay healthy.

It's not that this article confirms anything we didn't already know and discuss here the past three years or more.
The defense the Chief's play can be beat with a TE and a big WR who can make contested catches in the middle of the field. The same way that Kelce dominated and opened up the field for Hill. We all know we need a stud TE and have been crying about it for years. TE's beat us on D and limit us on O. Why the Bills have not put a priority on the position and stopping one with a stud LB/S is a big ???
I think Kumerow and Stills could have helped stretch this D and opened up some lanes for Diggs/ I wish they would have seen some action. Davis and Beasley were hobbled, but we did nothing to compensate or add speed. Even McKittrick in his Skittles suit could have done some damage but not one jet sweep or screen, other than the one Dingleberry dropped.
The Chiefs also do not have a game breaking stud at RB. CEH may be someday, but not this moment and he was hurt. Bell was one long ago and the Williams twins are JAGS. A stud TE helps the run game too and opens up the pass. This should be high on our list. We really missed Moss punishing those 6 DB's and forcing them to make business decisions. Moss could have worn down that secondary and forced them to respect getting gashed for 5-6 yds a carry and wearing themselves out having to support the run. Singletary/Yeldon are just not that type of back. Williams might have helped and it's too bad we didn't get to see if he had the juice to take advantage of the overly compensated secondary.
It would be great to also pick up some lightning to go with Moss's thunder. We don't have that. 2 RB sets with Moss and a fast Kamara-like RB would be a nightmare to defend and make Brown expendable. Add a true #1 TE and watch out.
We all suspected that Morse is not well or fully recovered but for this game we put our 5 best OL on the field. Time to find a new C that is a mauler in the run game or resign Feliciano and move him to C and get a mauler at RG or LG and let Ford Boettger fight it out. Resign Williams at RT.
The only surprise to some here is that Oliver is grading out well. The lack of a true 1tech has limited his big plays. We know that Butler and Jefferson were misses. Harry hasn't stepped up and Zimmer flashed here and there. Star after sitting a year, may or may not be the answer. But we need to bring in a true force in the interior DL that is 325lbs+ and a true pass rusher at DT or OLB.
I do not think we are as far away from the Chiefs as the public is saying. A few minor fixes and keep the core together.
In order of need. #1 DE #2 DT #3 LB #4 C #5RB1.

Fitz will stay in Miami and so will Dalton in Dallas.
Tyrod might follow Lynn to Detroit where he could be a stop-gap starter if they draft a QB high
Brissett is the interesting one. Will Indy keep him
If somehow Miami gets Watson, I think they keep Tua as the future #2. A return to the Jets would not be out of the question. Teddy B is my #1 choice for QB2 if Watson goes to the Panthers. I know Barkley is a good fit in the QB room but on the field he is a liability. Brisset is #2.

Agreed, my answer would be the same, except I'd say goodbye to Barkley. That noodle arm isn't going to hold up and I don't think he could go .500 if Josh were to miss any time. Lots of solid options out there looking for work that would be an upgrade. If the Panthers make a run at Watson, Teddy B might be a nice #2. If not Brissett, Fitz, Dalton, Tyrod over even Bortles would be upgrades.

Truth is that he had an unmanageable cap situation after Brady left and was thin on his roster. Cam blew up in his face and they had the most opt outs of any team in the league. I give him a Mulligan for 2020. Next year will be a true measuring stick and it will also probably signal the end of Brady. He had a great supporting cast in TB and he's looked good and he's looked old. I think old catches up in 2021 when his SB roster is depleted and the defense takes a step back.

Davis 22%
That's a lot of bodies rotating on a defensive line that are all totally ineffective. Time to stop with the rotation keeps them fresh and spend that money on someone who gets to the damn QB.

It does make you wonder, as much as they are denying it, were Daboll and Frazier distracted by the allure of potential head coaching gigs and not 100% in their game planning. Even subconsciously it can have an effect.
Exactly. I hate this rule and no jobs should be offered and no interviews given until after the season ends for all teams. It's only a few weeks. Everyone can hold their horses and wait it out so it is fair to all teams and not a distraction.

You think Stills runs the same 40 time as he did at the combine 8 years ago?
Rumor has it he still runs close to it.

McKenzie is a 4.4 guy...ran a 4.42
Stills ran a 4.28. Why not keep him around too. He is proven. Brown may get a shot to stick around. When healthy, we have. great set of WR. Unfortunately for this one game 4 of 5 were banged up badly. My #1 concern is getting us a legit sack-master pressure cooker at DE. Throw the bank at him and Allen and keep as much of the others as possible. This roster was deep and I hope we keep it that way.

One of the big issues we have is we don’t have anyone that can pressure the QB consistently. Hughes and Addison are becoming fossils and Epenesa doesn’t look like he has that kind of burst to be a consistent disrupter. We desperately need someone who can create pressure and we need another playmaker on offense, preferably a pass catcher.
I'm in this camp. We don't have the Barrett and Pierre Paul combo that can generate 5 sacks and consistent pressure to turn a game. We need this badly. AJ is not it. Hughes is 1/2 it. (maybe) Addison was useless. To me this is our #1 off-season need. #2 is an LB who can cover a top TE. #3 is an LB who can wreak havoc in the pass rush. #4 WR2 (maybe if Brown is healthy, he fits it, maybe Gabe steps up) but we need more speed and separation. #5. A breakaway threat at RB

It’s clear you can’t draft RBs in 3rd round and hope they’ll turned into stars. They are so low because combine demonstrate they have no burst and speed . And now we see it in games
Tell Alvin Kamara that. You can add James Connor, Kenyan Drake, Kareem Hunt (and David Johnson pre-injury) into that conversation too. I'd take any one of them. We just didn't hit on our 3rd rounders. Maybe Moss will develop. Devin definitely regressed. It's not that it can't happen, it just didn't happen for us.

you want a RB to go back in time 3 years?
Sometimes it happens when they have time to heal up. I'm only saying its worth keeping him around on the cheap to see if the tank can get refilled as an option. Even as RB#3 he may be able to contribute more than Devin. Competition is healthy and let the best RB's win.
-
I'd like to see them try to keep Devonta Freeman in the offseason. If he can get healthy and back to his 2018 form, he might be dangerous again, but it's a big if worth trying. It would be nice to get another RB with Moss and maybe Devin doesn't make the team. I'm not sure Wade will pan out, but next year is his last and he will either be on the roster or cut, no PS. He's getting old.
Looking around the NFL, Lindsay from Denver would be a good pickup, perhaps Carson. I wouldn't mind if Harris (AL) dropped I'd snag him in the first. If Ettiene is around in the middle of the 2nd I'd trade up, but we definitely could use some speed and a breakaway threat out of the backfield. Currently we don't have any #1's back there and we need one.
The run game ended up hurting our offense overall. We need more balance and a true threat at TE.- 1

The Chiefs are the best team in football by a large margin. We lost to the best.
Josh showed the yips, whereas Patrick played like a seasoned vet.
Our coaching was weak, and played scared. No killer instinct.
And, I’m at peace with it. It was a heck of a run, but the Browns ***** us. Hard. Now, GO CHIEFS! Beat Tom!
Of all the responses so far, I'm in this camp. Except, I don't think the Chiefs are the best by a large margin. Play this game in Buffalo and things might be a little different.
Josh definitely had the yips and he was throwing high all night. Hard to watch as he never got into a rhythm and settled down. I blame a lot of this on a bad O-line and poor pass blocking from the RB's. We missed a bit of Moss's thump and we needed to offset the pressure with better play calls. That did not happen and we fed into the same scheme that slowed us down the first time we played KC.
How our coaches did not see this and played into the same plan twice is truly puke-worthy. I thought we had the guns to stay with KC and exploit that defense more. A better RB and TE will help. Maybe we can upgrade the OL.
But what really, really hurt was the inability to put pressure on Mr. Turf Toe. The man was hobbled and still picked our D apart. We need an LB who can swarm a TE like Kelce and a DE who can bring the heat or an Aaron Donald type DT, which is what we were hoping the invisible Oliver would be.
As great as the defense played against Balt, they fell apart in KC and could not get off the field. It was infuriating and was the main reason WE LOST.
If we turn those FG's into TD's and make 2-3 stops on drives, we might have won. It was a great year, but the ending sucked. This was not the Bills team that rolled into the playoffs.
I also blame the coaches for terrible play-calling, scheming and not being prepared for KC's attack. I think we have equal talent to KC all things considered. Better D, better ST, and close enough on offense if everyone shows up and does their job. Today they did not and it's a bitter pill to swallow.
The truth is that no season is guaranteed success. You need to stay healthy and not lose any of your stars. I hope 2021 is better and we add the necessary players to stay on top. I finally trust the FO and hope that McD learned from his passive approach that he needs to be aggressive and not play scared. It killed us today.

Story of the game... complete inability to even acknowledge the other team had a tight end, let alone cover him. They have to figure out how to stop tight ends.
Yup, its been an achilles heal for two decades. Reminded me of Gronk eating our lunch for 20 years. Ouch

Big THUD! This should have been a much closer game. Defensive play calling was horrendous. No QB pressure, no answer for Kelce. Offensive play calling was bad. Nothing to help Josh ease into the game and get a flow. Josh was erratic and off. His legs made some plays, but the big sacks were really drive killers. Bad pass blocking. No running game and no ball control Inability to stop KC on 3rd down. It was hard to watch after the 9-0 lead evaporated.

Josh needs to be better. He was off all night. He's got talent around him. We need a better RB and TE, but he had talent to work with.

How the hell do you leave Kelce that wide open?

have these M'fers even punted today. Bills D has been pathetic. We need a pure pass rusher who can take over a game and pressure the QB

We have some extra picks to trade up. Some mocks have us taking Roche in the first and Leatherwood in the 2nd. Some have Harris and Etienne dropping to mid 2nd.
Freiermuth is projected mid 2nd to early 3rd so one of our 5th's may help move up if he's hanging around. Getting 2 of the 3 is not unreasonable.
