  1. Have we built for the future or is this team going no where like when TD was here?

Do we have more talent then 4 years ago or about the same amount as before?

This is a no brainer...look at the age of the 2005 starters.

Built for the future and more young talent in 2009.

    FS - Troy Vincent 35

    SS - Lawyer Milloy 32

    DT - Sam Adams 32

    OLB - Jeff Posey 30

    MLB - London Fletcher 30

    FB - Daimon Shelton 33

    WR - Eric Moulds 32

    TE - Mark Campbell 30

    C - Trey Teague 31

    RG - Chris Villarrial 32

    LG - Bennie Anderson 28

  2. Maybe its time for Jimbo to come out of retirement and become an Offensive Coordinator!! Any thoughts?

    It's never going to happen.

    1. Jim is 100% committed to fighting Crabbe's disease. It is his life ambition for an obvious reason.

    2. He's been out of football 13 years. NFL strategy and style of play has continued to evolve. A decade out of the coaching circle in the NFL is an eternity.

  3. Let's be clear

    Alex is not the OC

He calls the plays and is the passing game coordinator,

which has no more priority than eric as the running game coordinator.

as with all other Bills management structure, there is no one in charge to be held accountable

    ????

Ofcourse Alex is the one being held accountable...he's calling the plays. He has more priority because he's sending the play in. Nobody will blame Studesville if the 3rd and 3 play action bomb falls incomplete.

It doesn't matter if his title is offensive custodial assistant or O.C.

  4. Honestly, I dont know who else is out there right now, but there has to be someone more qualified than Van Pelt. Not saying Van Pelt will fail, but I just am not sold he is going to make much of a difference.

One name intriguing given the weapons he could use on this team is Martz...

Martz would change the entire offense immediately.

Why would you want to bring someone in to teach an entirely new scheme in 9 days?

Stick it out with AVP and he might actually surprise some folks. The worst misconception in sports is the new guy can't coach at the same level as a guy who's done it before. Youth and new ideas are the lifeblood of the NFL.

  5. If anyone votes for 2-14, you obviously do not remember the really bad years. I remember 1-13, 2-12, 2-14, 4-12. They are not very fun!

Starting 5-1 and finishing 7-9 was awful. I'd rather suck all year and dream of a franchise QB than have my heart ripped out by week 10 again by mediocrity.

Back to back 2-14 brought a hall of fame cast as a reward.

  6. I want playoffs this year or 2-14 and Hello Mr. Shanahan.

Bring him in to run the team like Miami did with Parcells. Let him pick a coach (Maybe his son).

My fear/prediction is 6-10 or 7-9 and status quo

This is the exact scenario I want as well. Shanahan would be my first choice as head coach.

I'll settle for 4 - 12 and a high enough pick to draft Bradford or McCoy.

  7. On OTLs First Report today Bob Lee discussed teams who were in trouble of having games blacked out and having trouble selling season tickets. Jacksonville was thouroughly discussed but other teams mentioned were the Lions, Fins, and............... of course the BILLS. Did espn even do their research??? or do they just figure since our team has been so bad that we've had every game in the past 10 years blacked out??

Ah yes, ESPN. Do they still cover the NFL?

I thought it was all NBA, all the time.

Does anyone notice the similarities between the change in MTV from the 80's to the present and the hip hop saturated decline of ESPN?

I'm sure ESPN will have it's share of trashy reality shows soon.

NFL network's football coverage is miles ahead in terms of quality and actual NFL coverage. I made the switch 2 years ago after ESPN stopped announcing the current pick in the draft because Berman kept rambling nicknames & cracking Eagles jokes. The band, not the team.

  8. Correct me if I am wrong, but for us Directv subscribers that means we would lose about 7 sabres games? Was that it? I thought I heard that's how many games we had on versus this year.

8.5% of Sabres games, all in HD - gone...yeah, honestly, that is a chunck.

That is a chunk....it sucks. Versus announcers generally talk about anything under the sun outside of hockey, but the HD picture is all I care about.

I am a cycling fan as well and lose some major coverage, including the Tour de France.

I've signed petitions for DirecTV, Versus and anything else I can sign to show my distaste for their greed.

  9. For everyone saying "no" please stop lying to yourselves. Brandon Marshall is 25 years old and a top 5 receiver in the league. 206 catches 2590 yards and 13 tds in the last 2 years and the vast majority of the fanbase would embrace him. Yeah I'd prefer Boldin over Marshall but the cards for all intents and purposes are in no hurry to get rid of Boldin.

    He's a cancer.

For everyone saying "yes". Would you invite cancer into your locker room?

Have some of you actually played organized sports past the age of 10?

The guy is an immature, ticking time bomb. I'm not saying he's going to make it rain ala Pacman Jones, but he's a chic beating WR diva.....no thanks.

  10. Again, he had an incomplete season, so he's not in the actual top 5. I'm not disagreeing the claim that he is amongst the best in the league.

As for Marshall, you didn't answer the question--what is the impending League suspension that you are referrng to?

ML had the opportunity to claim he was innocent. He plead guilty. Marshall did the opposite and a jury of his peers agreed with him. He was found innocent of any crime in that matter. What can you do?

He is currently suspended by the Broncos until opening day for conduct detrimental to the team.

  11. I hope this doesn't happen.

I want it to happen. I have zero faith in Marshall.

He will implode at some point in NYC. Drunk driving, beat his girlfriend, not show up to work, demand a bigger contract... take your pick of any or all of the above.

Having the J-E-T-S lose a future 1st and 3rd for this clown would be a blessing to the Bills down the line.

Broncos monitoring for tampering as well.

  12. I read negative post after negative post with a few positives mixed in. It really seems like some of the people on here are actually rooting for the Bills to suck so Jauron can be canned and we can start this whole thing over again. It seems like a lot of people are assuming the Bills are going to suck when isn't that what everyone felt about Miami last year?

The Dolphins went 3-1 in the preseason last year... did everyone have them winning the Division? No... back then the preseason didn't mean shiiii... Now since the Bills are 0-3 its the end of the world.

The Patriots went 0-4 last preseason yet they were still the favorite to maybe go undefeated again and win the Super Bowl. There fans were all like OH $@#@ we are going to go 4-12 and pick 2nd in the draft.

If you truly are a Bills fan every year should bring new hope because you NEVER know what to expect. Every year 6 or so teams that made the playoffs the year before don't make it again. There is always that hope as a fan that your team might improve this year, or might get back to where they were last year. Keep being negative and say the Bills suck before the season it's fine, but why are you a Bills fan?

    That's a great point.

    Now here's the reality - 9 seasons.

Since 1999, the Bills have found a way to NOT be the team that follows the trend of the 6 new teams. How is that possible?

I love the Bills....have since 1980 when I actually was old enough to know what NFL football was. I'll never jump off the bandwagon...season tickets, Sunday afternoons, Monday evening ass whoopin's and I even have the charging Buffalo tattooed on my shoulder. That being said, until the Bills break this 9 year drought, I have every freaking reason under the sun to be skeptical. I enjoy the highs, but I know the yearly letdown is coming ;-)

  13. I agree with Special K. I am not saying that Lee Evans sucks, but I don't feel that he is a truly legitimate number one receiver either. Trent hasn't exactly been getting him the ball, but I'm sorry, number one receivers find ways to get open. There were TOO many instances last year when Evans simply disappeared from the offense. You can point the the poor QB play, and even point to lack of creative playcalling to get Lee more involved, but man, as the number one guy on the team, you've got to be good for at least two or three catches a game right?

This may not be a good comparison to some of you, but Steve Smith to me is what a true number one receiver is. There's no other receiver on that Carolina squad that strikes fear into any other teams corners or def coordinators, yet he absolutely dominates, week in, week out. The guy is what, 5'9 or 5'10? And I'm quite certain that defenses double him or roll a safety to his side every time he's on the field.

I think Lee Evans is a gentleman, a consummate professional, and a great teammate. But a number one receiver. I just have to respectuflly disagree.

Put Lee Evans on Philadelphia, New Orleans, San Diego, NY Giants or the Bears with Cutler and you'll see what a number one WR looks like. 85-100 catches and 1200 yards easily.

The Bills offense has been a joke since 2002. Poor O-line play, musical chair QB's and zero consistancy running the football.

Lee Evans doesn't even get the chance to shine here.

  14. Three weeks ago Bell was a developmental project. Now he may start at LT. What in god's name are Kugler and Jauron doing? ;)

If Bell didn't get dinged up this may have happened already. You need to read more postings before throwing "developmental project" out there.

I'd rather have an up & coming athletic LT and a very solid RT than a slow, limited, out of place LT and this kid riding the bench.

  15. and our DE crew is not set up for the 4-3

    same difference

I've thought about the switch or the idea of alternating 4-3 and 3-4. I think the 3-4 look would set up a little more like this.

    DE - Chris Kelsay/Ryan Denney

    DE - Spencer Johnson

    NT - Marcus Stroud

OLB - Aaron Schobel (see Kampman in GB - 6'4" 265)

    OLB - Aaron Maybin

    ILB - Paul Posluszny

    ILB - Kawika Mitchell

    CB - Terrence McGee

    CB - Leodis McKelvin

    FS - Donte Whitner

    SS - Bryan Scott

The D-line would need to be tweaked going forward, but the LBers and DB's are very solid.

Maybin and Schobel would wreak havoc from the rush linebacker position.

Buffalo would need to pick up a space eating NT for this to really work and move Stroud to DE to be stout against the run.

  16. Kinda funny how we are all complaining that he gets rid of the ball too quickly after we just got rid of a guy who held onto the ball too long.

    KARMA....

The Bills are a living, breathing offensive disaster.

There's been one good offensive season since 2000....Bledsoe's '02 campaign with T Henry going for 1,000 yards rushing and Moulds & Price gaining 1,000 apiece receiving.
