  1. The Bills just made a significant investment in a rookie, who they hope will be the face of the franchise for a decade or more. They have to do every thing possible to provide him with an environment conducive to his rapid development as a quality NFL starter.

Maybe they thought Richie and his somewhat unstable offseason, and his history are not what they want in that environment. So when Richie says he wants to continue playing, they decided to let him do it elsewhere.

  2. It starts with "in the sixth round, the New England Patriots select quarterback Chad Kelly of Mississippi."

Fast forward to a mid season game in 2018. Steelers LB Arthur Moats lays a devastating hit on TB12, knocking him out of the game. Kelly comes in, throws for 400 yards and 5 TDs. Brady never plays again. A distraught head coach resigns after the season and is replaced by Frank Reich.

Fast forward again to February 2030. I pick up the morning paper (yes, miraculously there are still newspapers) and there, next to the picture of Chad Kelly raising the Lombardi trophy for the sixth time in his career, is Jerry Sullivan's column urging the Pegulas to fire GM Doug Whaley. Below the fold a is a recap of the Sabres latest loss to the Maple Leafs, led by Auston Matthews hat trick.

I take my last breath and pass away, a bitter broken man.

But, hey, the Bisons are off to a good start!

  3. I hate cheap penalties. False start, encroachment, multiple men in motion. So what if an O lineman flinches. The D should be watching the ball for the play to start. Let them stand up and do the Electric Boogaloo if they want.

Encroachment. As long as the D man is on his side of the line is scrimmage at the snap, what's the big deal.

Two men in motion. So what. Ever watch a CFL game? Doesn't seem to be a problem in the GWN.

Far too many times the flow of a game is interrupted for one of these nonsense penalties. Flags fly, whistles blow, zebras convene a committe meeting, and one team gets a cheap 5 yards. More times than I can count, the very next play is another 5 yard nonsense penalty that reverses the first. About 3 or 4 minutes of elapsed (real) time of nothing happening except listening to some middle aged guy in a striped shirt making announcements.
