  1. He could do big things and be with $4 mil in NE, but I don't see it.

The Bills did not low ball him, $1.6 was fair for what he brought to the table.

As he is no longer on the team, I could care less about him one way or another. I certainly don't wish for good things for any opponent. I would prefer every Patriot not live up to their $$ amount and create another hole that they have to fill.

    ...and with that, Go Bills!!

  2. Why not? Big fat signing bonus but the big salary cap hit doesn't have to hit until next year.

This is true. Some do have a "sophomore" slump. Could happen, but I am not seeing it. The whole secondary I think feed off of each other. I think they were communicating much better toward the end of last season. I'd really hate to see them broken up just when they started getting good as a unit. Regardless of whether you think Gilmore is top 10 or not, he is definitely a key piece in a very good secondary.

I agree 100% we would be fortunet even with a 1st round pick to have someone match Gilmore's current level of play. I would just hate to bank on Darby and let him walk and then find that Darby does regress. But I guess we do have this year to make sure that won't happen. Although waiting until next year on Gilmore will most likely cost the Bills more.

  3. I had them call my bluff once and set up the cancelation. Just called back a few days latter and explained that I didn't understand why they wanted to lose me when all I wanted was some discounts or a better deal on the ticket. Don't remember what I got, but remember I was happy with what they gave me.

They did blame it on a new agent. They also said the longer you wait from the last time they gave you a deal the more they could give you, so based on that its better to call closer to the start of the season.

But I always worry if I wait to long they might feel that they have given out too much as more and more people find out about it each year. I do feel a little guilty doing it, but your crazy if you don't. Since they seem to allow it each year, we're only playing by thier rules.

  4. I've lived near Tampa for 25-30 years now and could give a rats @ss about any of thier teams. I've gone to some games, usually Bills and Sabres but others as well.

The day they announced that Pegula was buying the team was like winning the Super Bowl to me. So my misery clock started ticking over at that point. Something only a Bills fan could understand, so I wouldn't expect the national media to pick up on it.

  5. The only issue, as has been pointed out, the longer they wait the more it costs.

But good point about the additional seats that they may have today vs a new stadium. Given that it's surprising we are so low league wide for revenue. How can people afford some of these season tickets at other stadiums.

I'm guessing the box prices differ quite a bit. But I don't think those are shared.

  6. Not that it would be a popular idea, but I keep wondering if the Bills simply raised ticket prices 25-30% ( which would most likely be less than people would pay in a new stadium, especially with PSL's) would the NFL decide that the recent renovations would be enough?

I'm in the I don't get it camp, sure a new stadium would be nice, but I don't have an issue with the Ralph. I've been to other new stadiums and sure they are nice, but they have not changed my game experience. I went to OSU and that stadium was fine as well and almost 100 years old. Why make people pay for a stadium the area can't afford.

  7. Yes we have TT and SG now. The scary part of it is we have Sammy and Darby in the near future.

I don't think we can afford to pay Gilmore and Darby both $12 mill.

I think that's why they are taking a harder/wait and see approach. If I had to pick between Gilmore and Darby, that is a tough one. Watkins I hope will be a no brainer.

I guess we do have some time yet.

  8. I have heard Delaware North was interested in helping out in the past, but I never truly understood what this means?

Why would they give hundreds of millions of dollars for the concession right? Do they make that much? And if so, why are they and other concession companies not doing that now or in the past on other stadiums?

Seems like the NFL teams would want to negotiate that seperately to keep all that they can?

Which is why I am confused as to why Deleware North would want to do this?

  9. It depends what happens. If they only win 5-6 games but TT or SW gets is out for a long stretch that changes things. Rex could actually be 8-8 and show improvement because on paper it's a tougher schedule. Not sure it's as black and white as the record, many shades of grey exist. So we will see.

I'm not a koolaid drinker, but I hold out hope like many do. I'm actually feeling good about this year for some reason, even with all of the issues we bring up (over and over and over).

In any case there is a long wait between now and the 1st game. A lot of bad bad things can happen between now and then. Here's hoping for the opposite, we deserve good things. Doesn't mean it will happen and I know the big guy has more important things, but add in a prayer now and then. Can't hurt. (Most of the other teams fans have probably given this up)

  10. Unfortunately, it is becoming the average salary with the higher cap. Either way it will be a tough negotiation, I think that is becoming clear.

I think it's more likely he has a similar season or slightly better stats than he has a Manning/Brady type year. It's year two, not year 7. Whoever he signs with he will get what the current market is, not what we think he is worth.

I like him, and hope for the breakout year. I'm just not sure that is the likely scenario. I hope there are less questions about him, but think at the end of the year he will still be a huge question mark. It's unlikely we will know all that we hope to about him.

  11. He could have a great season, or just play well against the Bills.

I think his attitude will change if he and the team don't get off to a good start. He is fickle and practicing/playing in that heat will take it's toll on his "attitude". Just my opinion, but people don't change. His good year here he was riding the high of the DL sacks.

We all agree he isn't a bad player, especially when he wants to play. He was not worth the money and that showed with what he got as a free agent. Not sure how his contract is written, if no dead money he may not see year two in Miami. It is up to him.

  12. 25 mil for one player just kills your salary cap. Especially if you have to pay a QB on the high end as well. Fortunately for Denver not a problem right now, but it could be.

If he gets that much and they have to pay a QB its not likely he'd ever see the end of a longer term contract. Less money, with more guaranteed would seem like a better option if I were him. That way you end up not being a cap casualty if you have a bad season or a lingering injury.

Otherwise the team can make it look good with a high yearly salary and if structured right, something they can get out of in a few years. No doubt if they end up having to go that high, they will want and fight for something they can get out of. But if he were smart something long term that is guaranteed is a better option.

Signing for the most looks good, but has a higher risk associated with it. If they had a QB locking up $40-$50 million in two players will really handcuff a team. Even with the higher cap numbers in the future.

He can help the team and himself by taking less with most of it guaranteed. Why saddle yourself with 4/5th's of a team, just to say you earned the most.

Having said that, I can't see him getting $25 mil. Not sure even JJ Watt is worth that much coin. Just my 2¢.

  13. I wouldn't mind him in the 3rd or latter. Not sure he would be there. We simply have two many holes and he is not a sure thing.

However given time to develop he could be. I like that he has shown he can come in and win games if TT goes down. He excelled under pressure. He is not the runner TT is but that is ok as he can run when he has to. He never looked as fluid doing it as Ohio States other QBs and that is why I think he was benched. Ohio's offence needed a running QB to open up the pass and has for years, it's simply the style they prefer.
