  1. I’m certainly supportive of Bills win SB bet and I have some myself, but their odds should be longer than they were at the beginning of the off-season.  Denver, LA Chargers, and Raiders all have gotten much better than they were last year plus D Watson to the Browns.  Net-net the Bills path is marginally tougher than it was a couple months ago despite the Vonn Miller and other signings

  2. Ed Oliver is beasting and I can’t wait to see him blow plays up.

it will be interesting to see what Sanders brings coming back from injury and with tons of career playoff experience.

That said, I think biggest impact player not named JA will be Poyer.  I expect him to help out a ton against the run early in the game, and when the Pats start throwing to catch up, I expect him to make a splash play or two whether a safety blitz sack, or a pick of Mac Jones.

  3. At this stage, it would take catastrophic injury to JA to not win the division and make the playoffs.  We obliterated our biggest competition, Miami, on the road, 35-0 in a Defense led route.   Even w Trubitsky, we beat the Jets twice and prob sweep NE and beat Miami again to go 6-0 in the division.  it would be extremely difficult to not win the AFC East while sweeping division games.  And i dont think im being over confident here, its just the reality of the situation.

  4. On the defensive side of the ball there are LOADs of guys that would have been considered better if the team had an adequate offense and actually won something.  the 1999 Bills D finished 1st in yards allowed and 2nd in pts allowed.  The 2003 and 2004 Bills were 2nd in yards allowed in consecutive years.  Lot of players no one outside of Buffalo has ever heard of that were really good.  some random examples off the top of the head:

    London Fletcher

Terrance McGhee (all-time return man too)

    Kyle Williams

    Sam Rogers

    Sam Cowart

    Henry Jones

The first player that comes to mind is Eric Moulds.  He had an end of career Kelly, a bad Todd Collins, a bad Rob Johnson, not so good Flutie, a shot Bledsoe and a bad JP Losman throwing to him....yet he still put up good numbers.  Any other QB I'm missing?

I think if Moulds had at least a decent QB to throw to him, he would be looked at as one of the greats.  He would be known at the same level as Marvin Harrison and Tory Holt who were in his same era.  But with the QB's throwing to him, he is really only still remembered by Bills fans.

    Who you got?

After reading the subject i thought to myself "Eric Moulds" as i clicked.  9 catches for 240 yards and a TD in a loss at miami in the 1998 wild card game speak volumes to a) how good he was and b) how his talent was somewhat wasted.

  6. Agree the Bills drought should be reasonably high on the list but probably not near the top.  The drought was impressive because of its duration, but really it was a period of mediocrity rather than compete ineptitude.  The Bills had one 3-13 season and one 4-12 season.  The bulk of them were 6-10 and 7-9 with a couple 8-8s and 9-7s mixed in.

Teams like the Browns or Bengals which had multiple top 5 draft picks to help turn things around were more inept even if they did have the one-off wild card birth during their run.

Edit:  I just looked it up and forgot about Courtney Brown meaning the Browns had four(!) #1overall picks from Tim Couch in 1999 to Baker in 2018.  Also interestingly, they had back to back 1st overall picks both times (Couch 99, Brown 00, -> Garret 2017, Mayfield 2018)

What are you talking about?  Please show me where I said that.  Classic example of TBD poster seeing red after reading something he didn’t like and changing the post he’s replying to in order be be even angrier.

i don’t hate the kid.  I own 2 jerseys.  I think he has great upside.  I don’t think he’s a MLB.  Based on his play so far, he’s not even worth 8M a year, let  alone 16M.  Sure, he CAN improve.  I HOPE he does.  I think the likelihood of him becoming a 16M player  by the time we have to pony up $ is unlikely......but it’s possible.  Maybe the light will turn on this year

OK, lets review the play by play:

OP:  someone thinks TE is good and thinks he can win DPOTY

    TBD et all:  He sucks

me:  Hes young and has his career ahead of him still

you:  "he will command a big contract in 2 years...maybe we should sign him on HOPE /sarc"

me:  Thats ridiculous and not what i said , let him play and lest see what happens

you:  [outrage] youre just like all the other crazies on here [editor note - its the crazies that want to run him out of town 3/5th of the way through a rookie contract]

And he has a 15M a year contract ahead of him too.....maybe we should sign him a HOPE that he improves?

LOL.  signing him on "HOPE" is almost (but not quite) as dumb as judging him as a failure now instead of letting him play and see how it goes.  you are saying he wont be worth a new contract after the 2022 season without seeing the next two years on his rookie deal?  what did you think about Josh Allen entering last year?

The hate toward the kid is unjustified, and the hot takes that he is failure and his career is over should stop, thats all.

  9. I’d venture a guess that if they knew they were going to get Basham in the second they would have gone elsewhere in the first, maybe corner, or it would have allowed them to move back out of the spot and pick up some goodies.  When it turned out Basham was there in the 2nd they stayed true to their board and took him as the BPA.

I like focusing on the lines and I like picking players with big upside late in day two and day 3 rounds trying to hit it big on one.  We’ll see how they develop.  If the WR from Houston can play fast in the pros, might allow then to move on from Andre Robert’s and redeploy the cap $s elsewhere.

needed to get depth at safety as both Poyer and Hyde are 30 and that was accomplished too.  Solid draft getting so many high upside guys with what they had, but no surefire

impact players.  B that could turn into an A if the the guys develop on the line develop.

good points but the exception in regard to youth and depth is edge and maybe cb.

dont disagree, although we drafted Epenesa last year and have a few young corners.  DE will be even more glaring after this year as Hughes will be in the twilight.  I think the sneaky big youth/depth issue might be at safety but its not on peoples radars yet bc Hyde and Poyer are locked-in.  That is going to creep up very quickly though as both are now 30 years old.... Losing Dean Marlowe really hurt us.

  11. With so many misses and outright busts each and every year in the top 15, these types of pre-draft rankings and ratings aren’t really worth the paper they are written on.  So much goes into whether a player has a successful career from athletic ability to personal motivation, coaching and system, personal life, injuries, and the element of ‘chance’ that life brings to each and every one of us.

The bills have youth and depth at almost every position which makes this draft significantly less meaningful to the overall future of the organization.  I agree w trying to trade back and get more picks next year, and also would be in favor of trading the pick for a vet that can help us win now.  Otherwise, cornerback seems to be the deepest position and one we could use more players in so that would be my pick at 30.

  12. i think our line did a tremendous job in pass blocking but kind of sacrificed run blocking to do so.  Neither singletary nor Moss were effective and i dont think it was really their fault, we just couldnt run block.  in the Playoffs i think Daboll and the coaches knew it which is why we went so pass heavy, which ultimately was our demise.  If we had been able to run in KC, we could have gone to the super bowl.  They need to improve run blocking this year to take the final step in the playoffs.

  13. I want them to trade back out of round 1 into round 2 stacking some future draft capital.  There will still be a number of high quality CBs on the board into the mid second round, and I think teams like moving up into the the back of the 1st round to pick players bc 1st round picks allow for the 5th year option.  So I think it’s plausible and I don’t think the bills will lose out on a quality player at the position they are likely to fill at some point early in the draft, CB.

stacking capital for next year could help us move up for a prime pass-rush prospect.  It doesn’t look likely they will get one this year and next year the need will be even more pressing than it already is as Hughes might be winding down.
