  1. normally id say that you cant predict a player would have the same injury on another team. like Crowell in Tampa for example, who got hurt in a drill. Its impossible to say, and highly unlikely, that he would have had the same injury if he stayed on the Bills.

HOWEVER, since Smith fractured his foot in a no-contact walk through, you have to assume this would have happened no matter where he was.

youre right that nobady could have predicted it, but some certainly could have seen it coming with his sloppy, out of shape, body.

i have a feeling that on this one, had the Bills (or anyone else) drafted him, theyd be dealing with the same mess.

He dropped his lunch on his foot.

  2. This is just amazing! The foot fracture is likely just a freak thing, but this kid has had 'issues' all along. He looked like a slob at the combine and he evidently did nothing to improve himself. That the SEC features so many great football players, and he was considered the best OT, is mind boggling to me that he can't/won't assure himself of achieving everything he can in an NFL career.

"Smith clearly wasn't in football shape when he signed his $42M rookie deal on Sunday"

IF ever there appeared to be a complete bust, it's this guy.

Bruce smith was a fat slob his rookie season it all depends on how much they want it Mike Williams was a physical specimen but didn't take things seriously he was definitely a bust but in great shape

  3. Good topic:

    - Fred Jackson fails to top 50 rushing yards in week 1

    - Langston Walker, if he starts, allows 3 sacks in week 1

    - The run defense performs surprisingly well, and is ranked among the top third in the league in opponents' yards per carry

    - Aaron Maybin totals more than 5 sacks on the season

    - Trent Edwards does not throw a pass that travels more than 20 yards in the air until week 3

    - Dick Jauron lasts the entire season without getting fired, despite widely-covered fan protests in and around the stadium

    - I drink at least a half-bottle of Captain during Buffalo's week 1 thrashing at the hands of you-know-who

Not if the NFL has their way

  4. 1. At the end of the season, 95% of posters will be sorry we drafted Jarius Byrd instead of having an extra 1st round pick in 2010.

    2) The Bills will manage to keep it close or win at NE. Brady is rusty and is going to get hit.

    3) Teams are going to run against us because of our weak DTs.

    4) Our secondary will be playing so far away from scrimage that qbs will continue to exploit them.

    5) If the Bills actually run the football against the 3/4 when teams play 8 or so men in coverage, it will eventually open up the pass. It is hard to believe that Jauron misses this easy s--t.

    6) TO and his health will be the deciding factor in terms of our receivers getting open. Evans simply doesn't get open often enough but TO absolutely does and will draw a ton of coverage.

    7) Overall, the OT and DT spots will be our demise.

    8) Trent will surprise the stats freaks and throw for decent yardage. His main problem will be T.O.P. because of our opponents running the football successfully.

    9) Jauron absolutely will last the season.

    10) 6 wins, maybe 7.

2.7 yards a carry is bad I hope to god teams try and exploit our run D thats one of the few bright spots Ive seen.

If we are good agaianst the run in preseason when we don't try I wonder what we will be like in regular season. As far as our O-line Trent been takin Judo so he can defend himself. lol

  5. The Bills will go 4-12, and be drafting in the top 5. Nic Harris will be starting by season end. And McGee will not be signed.

And we will draft 4 more cornerbacks or maybe not since we actualy need one

In truth I think we have two games we should definitely win in the first five and thats what we will need for our O-line to stabilize so we will bee OK. have a winning season and you can quote me on that please no injuries

  6. If the offense was holding back, the entire team is doing one heckuva sandbagging job not letting it on. Someone might remotely believe this if things didn't look so similar to their final games in 2008. The Bills failed to score TD's in three of their final 5 games and only scored 60 points in those games.

DJ could not out game plan rookie HC's in Sparano and Singletary, and a soon to be fired Romeo Crennel,

And since he's been HC in Buffalo, he's 0-6 against Belichick. I doubt he's purposely holding back. He's also 13-43 against teams that make the playoffs.

How many teams have beat the pats over the last 3 years

  7. Well my friend, this is a Buffalo Bills message board. We as fans, this is where we come to voice our concerns, complaints, and rants. If all you're looking for is rainbows and fairy tales, you might want to look elsewhere. In case you haven't noticed, there is definitely reason for concern with this team. True, it is only preseason, but in case you haven't noticed, we have looked absolutely abysmal. Hopefully, come September 14th, the kinks get worked out, but with all that seems to be wrong, it doesn't look too likely....

your what I would call a fair weather fan even if we won the sb you would find somethin to B word about

  8. So I get into work today & of course the guys are talking about the sad state the Bills are in. My one friend says he has a friend that lives in the same neighborhood as Schoebel & their wives are good friends. He said that Schoebel's wife was telling his friend's wife that Schoebel is really not injured, is milking it & really does not want to play football anymore & wants to just retire to his tree farm in Texas but he is making too much money to walk away. Not saying this is true, but I could definately see it. I never thought I would say this but I really hope they cut Schoebel's ass this year when cut downs come. Guy is just not worth the money they are paying him.

Sometimes spouses project what they want onto the other and try to convince them selves that its is the truth.

Hopefully this is the case because I have some stats for the cut Schobel people

    Tackles and sacks

    Richard Seymour 7 0, Greg Ellis 5 0, Mario Williams 5 0, John Abraham 3 0, Igor Olshansky 2 0, Aaron Schobel 2 0, Justin Tuck 2 0, Julius Peppers 2 0, Robert Mathis 1 0, and heres a DT Albert Haynesworth 1 0

These guys suck and their teams need to cut these washed up losers right. Leave Schobel alone preseason isn't about vets just look at the league leaders unless of course you think Chris Ellis is going to be among the league leaders in tackles this season and make the pro bowl. On the bright side alot of our reserves are among the league leaders.

  9. Tackles and Sacks

    Richard Seymour 7 0

    Greg Ellis 5 0

    Mario Williams 5 0

    John Abraham 3 0

    Igor Olshansky 2 0

    Aaron Schobel 2 0

    Julius Peppers 2 0

    Justin Tuck 2 0

    Robert Mathis 1 0

    He's A DT but

    Albert Haynesworth 1 0

These guys really suck Their teams should cut them.

Its preseason guys leave Schobel alone preseason is not about the vets its about everyone else take a look at the league leaders unless you would cut Julius Peppers, Albert Haynesworth and Shawn Merrimen. LMFAO You guys make me sick what a great bunch of fans.

  10. If you remember when we weren't as bad we had one of the leagues top defenses and Aaron Schobel was on one of the best D-lines in all of football we had two great guys now we have 1 so they can stop him we still haven't seen the guy play next to Stroud and we were 4-0 with him in the line-up must count for somethin

I also want to mention merrimen only has 4 tackles this preseason this guy must suck huh

  11. Hence the reason he has never been a captain.

  12. I agree with you mostly - I just think loser is harsh- to me Schobel is a symptom of the Bills organization hesitancy to pay top dollar to great talent- they end up paying 3 or 4 mediocre players more than they're worth.

Schobel is one of the top DE's in the Game thats why he gets the big bucks

  13. schoebel and kelsay, would save millions and could be replaced with a couple of de's cut by other teams

Cap is not an issue and Schobel may return to form don't need you guys calling them idiots in a month or so when Schobel would be putting up #'s on another team. (for doing what you thought they should do)lol

  14. IF DJ doesn't get canned after this performance he'll be the coach all year. The team is unprepared to play!

They weren't game planning, other than that I can't defend anybody Trent looked awful didn't have time to look better but on the positive Maybin got a sack and I believe it was against the first team. We still have 2 weeks maybe the O-line will jell and everything will start clicking by week 4. Maybe too late for playoffs but not for winning record 10-6. Owens, Schobel, and a jelled offensive line will make a big difference Edwards isn't all of the sudden a bad qb this team just isn't clicking.

  15. John Clayton was just on ESPN and said that after he has spoken with many people around the leauge and some Dr.s about the hit Haynesworth put on Brady he believes that this injury may be much more serious than New Englandis letting on.

Man would it be nice to have him miss the opener.

I would rather play them at full strength

  16. I watched most of the game. peters was unnoticable, which is good for an O lineman.

The offense was terrible when they were trying to force Vick in there. It looked like McNabb had a few words with Vick, McNabb went to the coaches and said something and made the cut-throat sign. Vick didnt see the field the rest of the night and suddenly the offense did well.

Reports have asked McNabb if this was the case and he seems to elude the questions.

Idiots in Philly gave Vick a standing O when he took the field.

    Why wouldn't they

  17. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=290828028

An unsightly breach of patriotic etiquette: Redskins FB Mike Sellers, carrying the American flag onto the field during pregame introductions, flung the Stars and Stripes onto the ground near the 50-yard line. After a few seconds, LB Robert Hanson walked over and rescued the flag off the turf. ...

Didnt see the game, just curious if anyone saw it or heard any commentary from the anouncers regarding this.

Maybe suggesting someone needs to save are way of life from the hands of Obama

  18. The funniest thing on this board that I have seen time and time again is the growing list of threads making another excuse for Trent Christ to explain his frequent below average play. For every one good game he has 4 bad games (literally), but the excuse makers hold on to the one good game as "the real Trent" and make excuses and blame others for his bad games. So, rather than have dozens of threads making excuses for him, here is a chance to list em all. This way when he has a bad game we can all just come to this thread and find out who's fault it really was...lmao

To get you started, here are some popular ones, including the most recent I saw that inspired this thread...

    1. Turk

    2. DJ

    3. Gameday Preperation

    4. Jason Peters Holdout

    5. And the most recent and my favorite...Lee Evans isnt good enough

I could easily list another dozen, but will let others...

I am just wondering when everyone is going to stop blaming everyone else for his struggles and realize the kid hasnt put it together yet and he is still a stuggling young QB. Hopefully he gets there, our season depends on it, but I havent seen anything in the Preseason that suggests he has improved on his worst attribute which is reading the defense. He doesnt see coverages well or fast enough causing him to make throws late (when going downfield), not see open recievers, check down too often, and hold the ball too long leading to bad sacks and lots of fumbles.

I don't care who you put behind our offensive line of the past few seasons they would have sucked too. Hopefully the line will be better. So far it appears to have made some progress I only hope that the progress speeds up. JP was a good QB too. the team ruined him.

  19. this site is unreal, it is week 3 of the preseason, and people are calling the season shot, our starters are healthy, or at the most have minor not threatening injuries and our offense has struggled a little bit, so the season is over? this is unreal, get the regular season started all ready please i can't take anymore over analysis

Thank You finally some one who realizes that the preseason is just set up to evaluate, jell, and build stamina. Its more about getting used to a game situation than it is winning. Apparently for those of you on this board its about whining. So will you all shut up until about week 7.

    GO BILLS!

  20. What a load of BS, if the Bills get pounded by the Patriots in week one, we will all know what to expect the rest of the season.

On the other hand IF they pull off a miracle and beat the Patriots, then your point might be valid. But after watching the Bills and Edwards play against that Packers 3-4, I doubt they will even keep the game close at NE.

Yes we pound them like we did when Bledsoe was quarterback LMAO

I don't know why I come to these boards only a few of you ever make valid statements. Other fans don't need to take cheap shots at our team you guys do it enough for every team in the league. The only thing I can agree with is when one of you makes a comment about RW because no one can over rule him he makes bad decisions. Why don't you listen to the players and coaches who have either played with or against our players and coaches instead of running your mouth about one of the most feared DEs in the AFC or a coach that is well liked by his players and peers.

  21. No secret that I think Roscoe is a tool when it comes to WR play. IMO he is a gimmick guy and a punt returner not a NFL wide receiver. I am also having my doubts that Lee can pull off the #1. If so, it is all the more important to get TO back on the field and developing chemistry with Trent. The Bills looked like the same bumbling team from last year against the Packers.

I am not saying the season is doomed on the basis of one preseason game. However, I am saying the Bills will find it very hard to rise above mediocrity if TO does not get and stay healthy this year.

Are you retarded Evans is better that TO or maybe 1000 yards receiving with no true 2nd wideout is easy.

  22. Want Shanahan

Won't ever come to Buffalo Shanahan, Cowher, Holmgren

Best option Gruden - Chuckie would be idolized in Buffalo. He would need to bring in a capable defensive coordinator. Dare I say bring back Wade. The guy has been awesome as a D-coordinator everywhere he has been.

    Wade Phillips

  23. After the year is over, T.O. will have helped the Bills more because Stevie Johnson and Hardy will have had another year to develop. Hardy is gaining tips from T.O..

Favre will further retard the development of Tavaris and Sage, and we'll be hearing Tavaris grouse about leaving Minn.

Aaron Rogers developed terribly under Favre right.
