  1. shun me for this opinion but I have a feeling that wont happen but Bob is from Erie... he has been living there for the past 2 years (not positive on that) ... always been a home guy ... buffalo is 90 minutes at most to OP... IMHO he is going to get signed with all incentives... no risk high reward any way you look at it... No one is looking to give sanders a pay day it's not going to happen ... buddy and co show him some love and I see it as a perfect fit

  2. This is what espn insider had to say:

Buffalo Bills safety Donte Whitner is set to hit free agency this offseason, and it's currently unclear if the team plans to extend his time in Western New York. As a result, Sal Maiorana of the Democrat and Chronicle examined the team's options at the position, given the availability of some other free agents at the position.

In Maiorana's view, though the team has been speculatively linked to former Indianapolis Colts safety Bob Sanders, signing him would be a mistake. Comparing Sanders to Whitner in major stat categories, he doesn't think that the injury-prone Sanders stacks up too well. In essence, the fact that Whitner was drafted eighth overall has worked against him, but from a pure value standpoint, he may actually be a better choice than Sanders.

As for Oshiomogho Atogwe, Maiorana believes the former St. Louis Rams safety may make the best option of the three, if the salary demands are equal. [Editor's note: Howard Balzer of 101 ESPN reports that the Bills are interested]. Atogwe has stayed reasonably healthy and been a productive ball-hawk during his career thus far.

As noted above, there's a chance that Whitner and the Bills will be able to extend their relationship, but we'll be able to tell how serious they are on that front by whether they host one of the other two prior to the March 4 deadline.

  3. Kind of how Ryan's been able to do the same with Vernon Gholston right? Face it man, some guys are just busts thats just the way it is. I hope I'm wrong and you are right but I doubt it.

except gholston gave a bunch of his money back and restructured his contract...he went to them, not vice versa.... to me thats worth keeping vernon...maybin should do the same to at least assure himself a spot on the practice squad :P

  4. Cam Newton is LACKING in CHARACHTER !!

Cam Newton was allegedly caught cheating multiple times at Florida and faced being expelled. Cam Newton allegedly put his name on another students paper, without that students knowledge; after Cam Newton was caught, he then allegedly passed in a paper he bought over the internet. The alleged cheating prompted a hearing in front of Floridas Student Conduct Committee in 2009. Newton allegedly didnt attend the hearing. Rather, Cam Newton transferred to Blinn College instead.

Newton found himself in some trouble while at Florida for stealing another student's laptop. A laptop he threw out of his dorm room window when the police were called.

    allegedly is the key word

  5. If we're going to be fair Thoner, it should be mentioned that there were three other "nose tackle type" players that were being harped upon last year at this time and leading up to the draft:

    Dan Williams

    Terrence Cody

    Cam Thomas

Williams (26th overall) did very little on a very bad Arizona Cardinals defense. He was schooled this year, looking lost most of the season.

Cody (57th overall and a TSW favorite) saw very few snaps after failing his conditioning test as a rookie with the Baltimore Ravens.

Thomas (146th overall) did have two sacks…among his 5 total tackles.

Troup (41st overall) had as good if not a better year than any of the other top nose tackle prospects. Troup also is listed at 315 pounds but played near 350 earlier in his college career. He took up running to slim down and increase his endurance because he didn't want to be a fat piece of poop. He's a dedicated athlete. If he needs to bulk up, I'm sure he will.

As for Troup's strength, probably he'll need to increase his lower body strength but at the combine he had 34 bench presses which is an excellent number.

Troup was a 3.5 year starter in college and a team captain.

I have zero concerns that this guy will become a good starter on this team…regardless of what position he plays.

  6. If you look up the word scapegoat in the dictionary George Edwards' face would be staring back at you. This guy has been demonized more than Satan himself around here. It's amazing to consider that the same people who rip the Bills for switching to the 3-4 without the proper personnel yet want Edwards canned. Not to mention the fact that he is a first year DC and might, gasp, get better with a year under his belt. Also this is not the same defense as Fewell's, he ran a Cover 2, Edwards runs a 3-4. Totally different. Was he good? No. Are you being overly dramatic? Yes.

And who did Wade Wilson coach?

well said....entirely too soon to pass judgments on a first year DC in the first year of installing the 3-4 D with the wrong person-ell

  7. to me he has proven he can coach any player that has the ability to compete in the nfl no matter what round they were selected in or went undrafted... he has certainly cleaned up the roster getting rid of the fat.... so far pretty much everything they said they were going to do is being worked on... so right now im content and excited for the future... you can just see the attitude swing amongst the new and old players to this franchise... if they squeeze more draft picks out of trades I'll have high hopes for this team

  8. Stroud has been playing with one arm. He isn't the player he was but he is still a very solid one. Plus, he is a big time leader in the locker room. And for a very young team, I think that certainly has a lot of value.

good point... can you put a price on leadership? if so how much does that cost
