  1. All I know is I'm kicking myself hard for not doing a $ one this year. Why do you keep making rest of the year picks if you keep changing them? I have nobody good left. Lets just say I'm taking Miami for week 16. From the looks of it I may have to go SF the last week as well.

Just in case I get banned (which seems likely), or I forget to pick (at least I have something in by default).

Can we make this one a $$ pool? I'm sure everyone will send in a check if we ask them nicely...

What happens after week 17? Do we simply tie? Does it somehow carry into the playoffs?

  2. (stunned silence)

People who work for newspapers, who are ostensibly journalists, and who serve the public interest need to do a bit more than just mail it in.

Brian Biggane has supposedly been covering sports for this paper for 30 years.

If a professional newspaper sportswriter with three decades of experience can't be bothered to know something as basic as which players the team he covers will be facing, then I submit to you, Dr. Trooth that he shouldn't be working in that capacity anymore. He couldn't even be bothered to do the bare minimum…he did less.

He didn't cross his T's and dot his I's…he failed to execute something as analogously simple as that. Fortunately for him he's covering sports. God forbid he was covering something of real consequence.

I don't know if his incompetence or his laziness is worse. In a competitive society where myself and others work their asses off to make a living, nothing is more offensive to me, than someone who has an easy job (and one which many others would die for) and still can't perform it well.

Actually his ass should be on the line…but luckily for him, all he has to do is face a few critical remarks in the comments section under his article.

And speaking of comments sections, just what do you think they exist for?

And WTF difference does it make TO YOU if I contact his superior or not, prey tell?

Reporting him to his boss or making a negative comment under his article seem pretty similar to me. Both are expeditious, but with my way, the writer at least knows he's being criticized, and by whom. If I write to his boss, isn't that more of a sneak attack on the writer AND more likely to get him in trouble?

What is your point Dr. Troop?

    +1

  3. Leonidas, you're off base here. The Falcons also sent the Chargers a second rounder the next year and Tim Dwight. And the original poster was asking if the package was enough including our 2012 first rounder- which I believe is enough to get it done, but not a smart move.

You're right. I forgot about Tim Dwight and Reche Caldwell (drafted from the 2nd rounder the next year). The problem is that it was almost a full decade ago and there's a ton of mis-information out there (see below). I could have sworn there was a pick in 2002 too, thanks for the heads up.

  4. Since nobody answered your question...

According to the chart, no, a 1st and 3rd wouldn't be enough to move up from #5 to #1, hypothetically speaking. In fact, all of your picks wouldn't be enough to move up from #5 to #1. But that's just the chart. In reality, it's much more feasible. In 2001 Atlanta traded the #5 overall pick and the fifth pick in the third round for the #1 overall pick and drafted Michael Vick. The Chargers took LT at #5 and some bum CB in the third.

  5. Forget Cincy over Buffalo. And although I am reticent to take a road team, I'll take Atlanta over St. Louis. I'll stick with NYG over Jax for week 12 and if it goes to week 13...well, !@#$. Hopefully I haven't been banned yet. Or hopefully I have...I dunno.
