If he starts the first drive without a completion he turns to crap the rest of the game which is sad. When he started 0-4 I knew we were losing

    What?

First off, his very first third down throw was a dart for a first down that Brown dropped.

Secondly, he lead consecutive scoring drives to put the team ahead 10-7, so it isn’t exactly as though he crumbled and went to 💩

He started slow for sure, but by the 2nd quarter he was fine. He started 2/8 and finished 12 of his last 19, which included a few bad drops (as per usual).

He's been a bit shakey since the shoulder ding, and has gone up against NE styled defenses that definitely seem to throw him off his game...

If there is just a half-second hesitation it is all it takes for a completion to become a miss, or an open window to close.

A complimentary running game of any sort would be helpful as teams are not even trying to bite on play action or bring their safeties up to the line. We suck that bad just moving guys with our line.

I do think with the way the defense has been playing, that Allen is struggling mentally with the idea of carrying this team

He is not ready yet, but I did not see the panic dumb-mistakes "bad" Allen with no-look laterals surface. Sure he chucked one up for grabs near the end, but the game was over and just waiting on the fat lady at that point.

There is a gap between us and the best teams in the league. We know what that looks like now.

I find this to be a wholly reasonable take...quick, say something irrational so that I know I’m in the right place 🤣

It was 2nd down. He could've at least given some effort on that play. He looked like he was ready to get home. Not much of a "dog" there.

Yeah ok. Josh Allen looked ready to go home after he ran through a defender one play earlier...sounds reasonable.

    Or not.

But don't you worry that two weeks in a row it has taken until the 4th quarter to play at that level? If he played that way all year we'd be 1-5. Can't wait for 4th quarter Josh Allen to show up against the Chiefs. I hate that the defense couldnt make one last stop to get him the ball but I'm also not going to rely on that every week.

The slow start is definitely an issue, don’t get me wrong. The big indicator will be how well he’s able to adjust to seeing more zone coverage...we shall see.

    Yup

We said the same thing before the raiders game as they had a terrible run defense and we gave up running the ball by the end of the 1st quarter

    this is Allen’s team

The Bills ran 9 times in the 1st half against Vegas and 11 times in the 2nd (not counting kneel downs)...they didn’t try to run and give up; they ran/passed at the same ratio they’ve been doing it all season.

  5. I gotta say: typically when the Bills lose I wake up game day morning with a sense of impending doom. Tuesday was the first time that’s happened this season, and we know how that worked out.

I definitely don’t have that today...it feels...odd. Like, I should be nervous about this one, and yet I have this calm confidence. I think we’re going to find a way.

Call it a win on a last-second, epic-long FG by Bass. No clue why I think that.

I'm just confused at the extent of their injuries

Why are they in full practice during the week but now a doubt to play on the weekend? makes zero sense

This is actually quite easy to explain: they’re getting better, but they may or may not be ready to play come game time, so the team works them into practice so that—if in fact they’re good to go—they’ll be prepared.

Smarter X and O guys than me can answer this question... any chance Edmunds can mostly cover Kelce throughout the game? At least within 10-20 yards?

Maybe, but that’s not what you’re likely to see. Using him in man coverage just isn’t a great investment of his skill set. You lose his ability to occupy zones and be a threat as a blitzer.

Problem with Spain is that he has struggled with pass protection, which is why he was benched. Watch the Miami game again and you’ll see he almost got Josh killed several times. So, what’s the lesser of two evils: Ford’s run blocking or Spain’s pass blocking? Factoring in the importance of Josh’s health, I think it’s the former.

    Mongo can’t return soon enough.

Yeah, I hear you. I’m hopeful that Ford can step up his game. He really has had moments, but they’ve been too few and far between for my liking.

Not sure what happened to Spain—maybe getting paid resulted in him slacking a bit, but he was solid last year.

Anyway, the guards are a problem in the run game right now.

well, let’s see.. Winters was recently graded out as the best guard in the AFC by an nfl devoted website. 🤔Hmmmm.. who to trust? A professional organization devoted to such matters or thebandit...

    🤦‍♂️

Go watch the tape and get back to me.

PS—there’s a whole thread on this.

PPS—why does it ruffle your feathers so when I disagree with the coaching staff?

PPPS—if that’s “professional organization” was PFF, then 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

We tried.  Looking at the all-22, frankly the blocking is a mess.  Someone put up a Cover-1 piece about it in a dedicated thread.  I don't think a fullback and Lee Smith help very much when fundamentally the OL is getting whupped.

Daboll said as much in his presser when asked flat out why we couldn't run against the Titans who have been giving up beaucoup yards.  That guys have to hold their blocks.

The guards have been bad...really bad
