  1. You build winners by solidifying your interior lines on both sides of the ball. That's where our top draft picks should go because that's where game are won. Look at: NO, Indy, Dallas, Arizona, Chargers, Jets, Baltimore, etc. Those teams have either one or both sides of the line excelling, especially Dallas.

That being said do you think that Dallas, NO, AZ, NY,Baltimore, and lets throw in Cinci, NE,Pitt and buffalo would rather have...

    Felix Jones

    Sedric ellis

    Rogers-cromartie

    Vernon Gholston

    Joe Flacco

    Keith rivers

    Jarod Mayo

    Mendenhall

    McKelvin..........Over Chris Johnson??????

these are pretty good picks but if they could (maybe with the exception of Baltimore because they eventually got Rice in that draft) they would change thier pick knowing what they do now.

One more, what would AZ look like if they had drafted Adrian Peterson instead of Levi Jones?

Speed and talent like that cant be passed up, or it ends up passing your DBs on his way to six.

  2. Im not saying Volek is the answer or the best option but from what Nix has said about FA's being guys who'll "fill a hole", I dont think the options in FA are very high and if he explores the trade market he'll find guys who arent worth trading for or too pricey. Since he also said he plans to build through the draft so trading away to many or too high of draft picks seems out of the question and all the guys entering the draft are not really the prototypical NFL QBs

    heres how i see it.

    FAs

Campbell: young but hes had a mix of really nice games mixed w/ complete disasters seems like a Trent 2.0

Orton: I assume he's going back to the Broncos even if he's not the long term guy.

Pennington: I like pennington but he is a beaten down mess

Culpepper: He'd be nice paired with Lee and he's had success but not since Moss was a Viking.

    Possible trade Candidtes

McNabb: Bob Matthews is an Idiot!!! if the fans in Philly had any sway he would have been gone years ago, also they are not gonna give up the picks it would take to land him.

Kevin Kolb: I get a Rob Johnson vibe from this guy. He tore it up in two games and they will want a first rd pick in return for him if he's even for sale.

Mike Vick: Who knows if they really want him i guess it wont come at too high a price

Quinn: Playing bad on a bad team

Anderson: See Quinn just more sucees and experience

Leinart: havent heard he's on the market but i think he's in the same boat as campbell but w/ less exp.

    Draft picks

McCoy: Okay i guess but only if its second rd or later

Bradford : Soft tosser from a spread offense with injury problems

Clausen: with the exception of his face i dont mind Clausen who is probably the only real 1st rd talent ready to play but he'll probably be gone by#9

Pike: would groom nicely behind a Volek IMO

LeFevour: Really like this kid but same as Pike

Snead: if everyone else is gone; big arm would fit w/ buffalo weather though.

Tebow : Oops! this is a QB thread, sorry.

I think the best NFL Type guys were Mallet & Locker and i dont think they waste a 1st rd'er on a qb this year so a good Veteran to bridge the gap if they grab a 3rd rd'er would be a Volek type guy because he's experienced healty and will come at a decent asking price IMO.

  3. This is very up in the Air... Do they get "the" guy in the draft, do they pick up one of the countless UFA scrubs, or trade for a QB?

    My longshot prediction...Billy Volek.

This is completely a guess but it seems plausable.

He has had success in the league, though limited and on good teams, when he's been called upon he's been effective.

Buddy Nix had a good look at him while with SD (I am obviosly guessing that he likes what he has seen, if not, then to hell with this post).

Nix's relationship with the SD FO could make for smooth dealings like the way the Cassel to KC trade went down.

He won't come with a high pricetag be it a draft pick(maybe a 4-5?) or players in return (lets say...Roscoe) or both.

Looking around the league getting a QB whether it's Via trade, through the draft, or in FA there just doesnt seem to be anybody worth banking the next couple of years on. Most FA's are either old or playing terrible, all the QB talent in the draft either went back to school or will be gone before #9, and most players who could be gotten in a trade, are either too high a price or have too many question marks.

For the Bills and Mostly Nix I think it might be that he's right guy for the right price and less of a gamble that all the other guys out there.

I'd like to hear some other predictions if you got 'em or you can just lob your rotten fruits and vegetables at me. either is fine. :flirt:

  4. his mechanics suck right now, but that is the ONLY knock on him. all he needs is to correct his release.

Just like byron Leftwich fixed his release???

Of course he was quick on his reads, he only has one read! his second read is to run. I wont say he didnt make some nice throws, but good high school QBs should be able to hit wide open WRs with no pressure.

I hate that you people who are blind to this are making me hate a really good human being.

  5. He really looked bad today....

    1) Danced instead of turning up field to get a first down on 3rd and short in the first quater.

    2) Missed the screen pass

    3) Was laughing and having a good time on the sideline towards the end of the game.

Freddy is the better player, Lynch is a bum who is one bad decision away from getting suspended for a year. Get rid of him and get some extra picks for the new coaching staff.

I wish this message board was around in the early 90's so we could have proof of the rediculous amount of people who thought the Bills would be better with Frank Reich and Kenneth Davis starting instead of Jim Kelly and Thurman Thomas. We worship those guys now but people who felt that way actually excisted back then. I'd be nieve to think that doesnt happen in every city but it seems like thats always been the case with Bills and Sabres Fans. whenever there is an outstanding or proven player in Buffalo there is an alarming amount of people who hate his guts, and if whoever is backing him up shows any promise, call for him to be traded or demoted to 2nd string.

By the way FJ didnt look to hot either with the expetion of the KR

  6. I don't think cushing was available.....

Yes he was, Cushing went 16th (maybin 11th)

I apologize for not making it more clear when I started the thread that I dont dislike Maybin or think he'll never contribute and be a good Player. I just hate the bills taking a good player who cant contribute right away, when that is exactly what they need and Cushing is that type of player. Every year there is a Maybin type talent and if they had taken a guy like Cushing who could help solidify thier defense now and a luxury pick like maybin wouldnt be such a bad thing in a year or two. So the post was directed at the FO and coaching woes not Maybin, who I think will some day be a nice player.

    /////\\\\\

  7. Because the bills have no need for a solid tackling LB who makes plays. What the Bills defense needed was a DE who is: undersized, cant play LB, gets 10% of the defensive snaps, and runs 15 yards into the backfield before making a move towards the QB. Hindsight is 20/20 but how nice would it be to have a player with what Cushing brings to the table on this defense right now?

  8. Nobody knows if trent is going to be a great qb, but the kid hasnt even been the starter for two full seasons on an team with a young, and average at

best supporting cast . Dont forget Drew Brees played three seasons on a the Chargers and played bad enough that they felt the need to draft Phillip Rivers.

Then as LT became the most dominant RB in the league and Antonio Gates came into the picture, Brees played lights out and went to the Pro Bowl. The

Chargers were then stuck with Rivers rookie contract and had to let Brees go, and we all know how that turned out. Brees went to the pro bowl again and

Rivers sucked balls his second year and SD looked like retards. I bet the SD message boards were saying the same thing about Brees and Rivers going

into thier third seasons as we are about Trent. In Trent's in 24 starts ive seen a guy thats had some games where he looked like a rookie and some games

where he's looked like a seasoned veteran. The thing I have noticed most is, even in a game he has played terrible in, he's had clutch moments

(jets, skins '07-oak,StL,jax'08) and if the bills are behind & its close in the 4th qtr he gives me the opposite feeling JP did when were winning in the 4th qtr.

In a QB's first two years those negetive things are going to happen, but the positive things he's done dont always happen and are at least a sign of future

promise. I'm not saying that Edwards is going to be a Rivers or a Brees, but but if he is, I dont want to see him have a breakout season after Buffalo

drafts an expensive 1st rd Qb pushing Trent out of Buffalo only to have continued success in a different city like Brees did. I guess what im saying is, Trent

has played above his years enough times for fans to give him a chance to at least be a veteran Qb before calling for his replacement.

  9. Conrad Doblers "they Call Me Dirty" co-written by Vic Carucci is pretty good. Though most of it is about his days as a St. Louis Cardinal, he has a lot of good things and good stories to tell about his time in Buffalo. Other than a few chapters devoted to recapping entire seasons its worth reading and is probably similar to "by a nose" in that hes an interesting guy who isnt candy coating things like tasker in his book.

  10. I have a couple specifics...

As a (at the time) Rob Johnson guy i hated any time RoboSack got put to the carpet and rolled around in pain like a 4 year old after a bee sting, they would cue the Doug Flutie in ballcap looking sullen shot. if he got up, put his helmet on and started throwing, i think you could actually hear the guys in the booth's pants getting tighter.

    SuperBowl XXXIV Curt Warners wife.

Bills v Cowboys monday nighter and the constant cut to Jerry Jones in his box.

the rivers/cutler feud and the cut to one when the other does something good or bad. this happens any time there is a player feud but this is the most recent that has annoyed me.

Coming back from a commercial break at the start of the fourth quarter in which Brett Favre is within fourteen points(cut to Favre arms folded over chest and no helmet for a better closeup) and the commentators reminder that there is still a lot of time and that no game is over when "this guy" is lining up under center. I hate favre.

  11. I think the best way would be first team to six. one td or two FGs. That would prevent: a good return, two first downs, and a long kick, winning the game. everyone talks about how both teams should get an opportunity to score because losing in the way i described sucks. On the other hand if a team moves the ball down the field or burns another team for a long bomb or run for TD that team should win.

  12. What I dont understand is: why does he assume that getting Michael Vick on your team translates into wins? He was a terrible QB before he was sent to the can; i dont know what the fascination is with this guy, he ran really fast and had a cannon for an arm, but he was a terrible passer.

These retards that are obsessed with athletic ability at the QB position are so stupid, so many times people forget to see if a guy is good "NFL" QB. Vince young looked like a great QB in that game against USC running all over the field and throwing seven yard hitches, and bubble screens in the spread-option offense from the shotgun, none of which translates well to a good passer in the NFL.

He was fast though, and could and make plays with his feet, two things O. coordinators don't have in thier playbook and dont gameplan for, and now VY's holding a clipboard for a guy who though less exiting, wins games by being consitantly accurate, not making mistakes and getting the ball in the hands of the his teammates. Just like the guy who Has Mike Vicks old job in Atlanta.

If drew Brees , who was drafted the same year as Vick was out of the league for the last two years and couldnt practice because he had to go upstate. people would say he was finished and no one would want him. Though a guy like Vick who had a hard time grasping offenses and had accuracy problems and was jus simply an average at best all around QB, is supposed to help Buffalo get to the playoffs for the first time in over a decade? because he's fast

For one simple reason, they signed terrell owens. It's apparent to me that to the media, Buffalo has become a cross between the Raiders and Bengals, a haven for the criminal element and a last stop for castaway superstars, in a matter of just two offseasons. Let them keep thinking that, and let them be the media, wrong as usual. Because Terrel owens though considered a poison, isnt and has never been a criminal and all the criminals on buffalo are home grown, they would never have drafted Lynch if he had done his hit-and-run or had a weapons arrest before the draft.

As much as i hate TO's personallity i realize it has only to do with football, his antics are only football antics. Mike Vick was a federal criminal and went to jail for disgusting crimes that he didnt need to be involved in in the first place. PSo the media putting TO & MV in the same group is incredibly unfair to Owens.

I'm sure some team will re-fall in love with his speed and rocket arm and overlook the fact that he wasnt a very good QB before he went to the pokey. I dont think it will be, and my god I hope it wont be the Bills.
