  1. If I was you I would just get the Sunday ticket. I think it is $360 for the year but you could usually get them down to half price & bring it down to about $180. Adds an extra $30 on your bill for 6 months so your paying about $7 per week to watch the Bills game. When you break it down like that it is not bad & in the long run you would save money by not going out to the bar every Sunday & dropping $30-$40 on booze & food. Plus you get all the other games too so when the Bills season is over & they have no shot at making the playoffs, which usually happens around Columbus Day weekend, your not locked into their games & could watch the other NFL games that actually mean something.

How are you able to get half off?! Thx!

  2. Well, since you offered...

How DO antitrust economics relate to the current NFL labor dispute?

    Thanks in advance.

    GO BILLS!!!

A hearing is set for April 6th in the antritrust suit filed by the players against the NFL. Players are seeking an injunction to prevent a lockout - A lot of this is posturing and obviously there are many other issues involved, but in an antitrust suit, the testimony of economic experts can have a significant impact on the outcome of a case. For example, an economist is often retained to estimate damages in a complex antitrust case.

  3. And you guys look at the stats and go ooohh and aaahhhh, Fitz was the 22nd rated passer this season in the NFL....now look at who is # 15, Chad Henne...ROFL Henne stunk up the field in most every game I watched him play in this year, also Miami is stating they need a new QB

Kyle Orton was the 10th rated QB and he will be looking for a job as Tim Tebow takes his place next season. Tyler Thigpin looked good at KC while playing for Gailey, that team went 2-14.

Seriously guys get a grip on reality, its all about wins and loses, stats are just fluff

Look close at some of those stats and do they honsetly reflect how good a player or team is? Here is a stat for ya. Fitz was only sacked 24 times this season, Tom Brady was sacked 25 times...does that mean the Bills O line is as good as the Patriots O line?

First, you need to annualize the sack figures. So Fitz was actually sacked more on a 16-game basis. Second, Brady is less mobile than Fitz. Third, it is porbably fair to say that neither QB was sacked very much, which in Brady's case reflects the quality of his OL, his ability to scan field quickly, and his quick release whereas in Fitz's case, it reflects his mobility, smarts, and probably also the fact that he played less downs because our defense is so bad (particualrly run defense, which eats a lot of clock).

  4. I say you need to find something to do with your time. Comparing Fitz to those 3? Are you serious. You might be able to compare Fitz to the top three backups in the league favorably. That is like comparing Fred Jackson to O.J. Simpson, Barry Sanders and Walter Payton, to even suggest they are in the same league is ridiculous.

Original poster was very clear that he was not saying Fitz was as good as these guys. There is nothing wrong with making the comparison - It is a good way to benchmark Fitz's performance relativr to the best QBs in the league.

  5. Great summary - The rushing yardage is interesting too (unfortunately, it also reflects the fact that he was running for his life at times) - It would be interesting to see how many first downs were made off of those rushes - I think it will be a decent number of first downs. I completely agree with what many others have said - He is a solid QB with potential to improve and we have many other very pressing needs. It will be very interesting to see how he does next year, assuming there is a season.

  6. My "inside source", FWIW, at One Bills Drive, told me a few years ago (after TD was fired) that it was announced to the staff that Jim Kelly would "be around" the offices a lot more, working for the team in some un-named, unspecified capacity. They were assured that he would not be a coach, but given very little other information. The presumption was that he was going to be a sort of "apprentice-GM". But now, who knows, maybe Mr Wilson was making an arraingement for Kelly to learn all the day to day ins and outs of owning a team, up close?

BTW- doubt my story, but I had at least two folks who "lurk" here PM me at the time, asking how I knew about this. It was supposed to be "top secret". I didn't divuldge my source.

    Thanks!

  7. See I disagree with the bolded above. Firstly we don't yet know (we may never) what was said in the sideline huddle before the kickoff. It's hard for me to believe that Bobby April didn't go over the situational aspect of the kickoff.

And even if he didn't, Leodis is a first round pick in his second year at kick return duties who also returned many kickoffs in college. He's a highly paid professional. He shouldn't need to be told what is crucial in that situation.

Does anyone think the offensive coordinator should tell the quarterback every time he has a 3rd and 5 from the opponents 30 yard line "don't take a sack because it'll put us out of field goal range?" Does anyone here think that a baseball player needs to be told by a coach what to do when there are runners on the corners with two out and the #3 hitter at the plate?

I don't blame April. Leodis has the professional responsibility to know what his job entails.

Some very good points, and there is certainly a lot we don't know. In thinking more about it, perhaps the blame should be shared b/w the two. I can't get away from the notion that "management" shares at least some of the responsibility in this instance. Part of the role of management is to make sure you have the right players that know their roles and can execute - And in a very critical situation, management should say the right things to players. Particularly given how young LM is, why not give him some critical guidance before the kickoff return? Of course, we don't know what was or wasn't said to LM.

  8. The blame should be put squarely on Bobby April, IMO. Our Special Teams coach, at a crucial point in the game, should have made it clear to Leodis that under NO circumstances should he attempt to run it back if any part of his body was in the end zone when he was going to catch the ball. Pretty simple instructions. We are OK with a touchback, Leodis, no need to make a play here (and also say, by the way, Leodis, if you do run it back, protect the ball at all costs . . .).

Of course, a game is made up of a bunch of good things and mistakes, and you never know what would have happened if a certain mistake had not been made, but in this case, given how late in the game it was, it seems pretty reasonable that but-for this glaring error, we most likely would have won the game.

  9. Prediction of 3rd or 4th place is very reasonable if you take a step back and be objective about it. Three 7-9 seasons and all the obvious other reasons that people have mentioned certainly point to 3rd or 4th being a reasonable prediction. But predictions are the fabric of a lot of the BS that fills columns and web pages in the offseason. They are good conversation pieces but not much more than that. My view is that there is a decent chance (less than 50% but greater than zero) that we will exceed expectations this year. And with TO, Maybin, Freddy, Schoebel, etc., they should at least be fun to watch!

  10. Where do you see the connection between cheap shots and playing with fire? In my experience with team sports, the guys that commit the cheap shots are the lazy ones, not the intense ones.

Remember, there is no greater value in sports than playing with passion while maintaining your integrity.

As for the team getting angry, I agree. I think one of the reasons that last season snowballed into a tremendous meltdown was the (apparent) lack of accountability. If a player knows that his teammate/coach is going to get in his face after a bad play/loss, he's more likely to give 100%. That's just part of the team psyche.

I think the point about cheap shots is that the team needs to have such an aggressive/balls out mindset, that going over the line, figuratively speaking, once in awhile would not necessarily be abad thing!
