This is diabolical genius. They set Peterman up to succeed in preseason and start the first game. Then they let him crash.
Now, Allen can start and if he has a few hiccups NO ONE will be clamoring for Peterman. And the FA QB scene won't be all that either.
Then, the Bills can play Allen all year and see if he has what it takes. If he doesn't, we'll select the Next One with the first pick in 2019...

1 hour ago, Doc said:
Maybe they should get rid of instant replay.
No. I'm still mad over "just give it to him".
-
I was a little in shock, I think. I welled up later when some guy called WGR and told the story of watching the Bills in the playoffs at age 10 with his father, and how his Dad passed away before they could do it again, and it hit me how many families must have a similar story.

When you read her bio she could hardly be more qualified. Listening to Mowins was average, she didn't flow or sound authoritative though. I heard her call Taylor McCoy a bunch, but Summerall got names and yardlines wrong for 5 years and no one got mad at him....

Michaels went for the cheap laugh. When you're a fan of a team that's been ****ty for almost two decades you need to have a thick skin. He definitely shouldn't have said it (and it's not true) but it's hardly something to be irate about.
At that moment in the game I had to agree with him. Hopefully that changes...

Kansas City came out after the 3rd quarter and punched NE in the mouth. They cudnt get it together after that.
"We're on to New Orleans"

I couldn't think of a better way to start the NFL season. I absolutely love watching NE get beat.
"We're on to New Orleans."

Never thought I would see 65M dollars on fire...

Logically I know I'm supposed to root for the Pats and the pick, but when I watch it in real time, and I hear that stupid foghorn, my heart just wants what it wants.

I don't disagree with you. However, I'm skeptical of their statements that we are expecting to be a playoff contender, if you are rebuilding from the ground up, tell it like it is. Don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining. That's all. I'll give them a chance, i always do.
Def. rebuilding. But at this point, in all honesty, there are only 2 Bills I like. KW, whom I feel bad for because he won't be around for the winning if they get there, and McCoy. They can dump everyone else.

Because 1st round cb's like McKelvin, Whitner and Gilmore did so much to vault us to the playoffs...White someday might be decent, but even if he is it won't guarantee we sign him 5 yrs from now. The trade down was great but the draft pick compensation was awful. A late 1st & late 3rd hardly justifies allowing a team to move up 17 slots for a qb....
According to the NFL Draft Value Chart, it does: http://walterfootball.com/draftchart.php
10th pick - 1300 points.
Now lets assume the worst and say the Chiefs win the Super Bowl, because of course they will now that we gave them our pick.
27th pick - 680, 32nd pick next year - 590, last pick of 3rd round - 116. Total 1,386 points.

I tape 5 or 6 1pm games and sit down at 2pm and fast forward from the end of the play right to the moment the QB sets for the snap
an NFL game takes an hour to watch all the plays usefully, when she's garbagetime i ditch it, except for the BIlls cause that's when TT shines
haven't heard a thing coming out of the mouth of Berman or Marino or Zippy and the 12 Bozos for 20 years now
this also eliminates Gruden unless he continues blabbing well into the next play...
I do the exact same thing. Start watching at 2-2:30 and if the game is good, I'm caught up live around 4 ish when there's high drama. If it's not, I tell myself I don't really need to sit through it, but most of the time I do anyway.

because it would be cool as heck.
seriously. I would love to have him for one year as #2 to LeSean. He can catch too.
But it is just fantasy. Nothing says to me he or Bills would have interest in doing business
It's cool in Madden, I suppose. I bet AP wouldn't accept a #2 role, or #2 pay, happily. He might end up there, but why add an unhappy guy to an already effective rushing team?
-
Oh don't worry. The next kicker will have just as many apologists.
You're right. New policy. Miss a kick, you're cut. Every time. Practice, game, I don't care. We need some accountability around here, and we don't have it unless kickers are getting cut.
That said, there aren't any numbers that led me to believe Carpenter should have stayed.

I have nothing but tremendous respect for the man but God help me this seems like the New England thing to do
-
They ask stupid questions in the guise of asking hard questions. Why didn't the Bills fire Rex when there was a 1% chance of making the playoffs? Because there's a chance. Do you really want our team to quit? What would you write then?
Maybe it's bad form, but I'd look that clown dead in the eye and ask if he was seriously asking me why I didn't quit on the season sooner because the going was rough.

Of that, im generally curious to how much the weather plays a role in those %'s.
All i have said is if you move on from him, averages say the replacement kicker will miss GW FG's in his career here.
The PIT guy is 17th, and perfect on extra points, and ketchup field is supposed to be the worst.
Yes, another kicker will miss a few, even the NE guys do, but Carpenter's performance overall needs improvement, either by him, or a replacement.

http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/kicker/
Who do you replace him with from that list?
Do you draft a kicer?
I might be talked into Hauschka from that list. A fifth round draft pick should be just as good.
The issue is this: Carpenter is tied for 28th in the league in FG% with 75%. Only 2 attempts were 50+ (he made one, a 54 yarder), and he's 4/9 on 40-49s. BTW, if it always feels like the Bills are losing to kickers in 50+ yd FGs, it's because those are becoming routine in the league. League % on 50+ is 65% this year - chances are 2 out of 3 on 50+, and that's the AVERAGE.
Carpenter is also 27th in the league in XP% with 39/44 or 89%. 5 kickers are perfect, and 25 of them are >90%.
What other area of the team are we satisfied with 28th in the league? We're calling for Rex's head, because that's probably where the run defense ranks. We're calling for TT's head, because the passing offense is similar. But Carpenter is OK?

Joe Gibbs
Bill Parcells
George Allen
Marty Schottenheimer
Bill Cowher (pre-Roethlisberger)
Bud Grant (pre-Tarkenton)
George Halas
I know you were just responding to the post, but 3 of those guys practically pre-dated the forward pass. You almost didn't need a great QB when a winning formula was "3 yds and a cloud of dust".

Hmmm... Thursday games are bad because there aren't enough good team in the NFL, so.....move all of those bad games back to Sundays, and....everything gets better?
Oh John Madden.....
That wasn't his point.
His point was that players don't recover well enough to play at 100% in 4 days. He thought only teams coming off a bye should play on Thursday - I think he's right.
-
Have you watched any dolphins game? If you have and think they are a good team, you need glasses.
Unfortunately, I watched all of the one where they ran all over the Bills defense, at will.
-
Jeff Fisher is overrated and why he is still a head coach is beyond me. I have disliked the man since he was a player.
I love him right now tho

Goodwin's first TD catch less than 40 yards....

There is a very likely scenario brewing that has the Bills are starting this season 0 and 4, and finishing the season 2 and 14. More than likely he's going to have to bite the bullet on Ryans contract. Other than opening beer sales three hours before kickoff and offering two for one beers starting at half time, what else can he do to make this franchise saleable.
With the first pick in the 2017 draft, the Buffalo Bills select Brad Kaaya, Miami....

I'm 50 and I start to talk about Joe Ferguson, Joe Cribbs, Jerry Butler, and the Bermuda Triangle defense and I see people's eyes glaze over and they start looking at their phones 5 words in.
I've learned to just shut up about it, except on internet forums.
