  1. Keep in mind the very best in the profession is .667 (Belichick). So the question is how far Fisher's .524 is from .667? Essentially 11-5 is what the very best coaches average (and with arguably the best qb of all time for 15 years), so that's the best anyone has proven in the modern NFL.

QB killer? McNair was effective for years. Vince Young (Mr. I need to rent a whole plane so I can fly alone) killed himself.

Belichick was 36-44 when he got to NE. Some of my friends would tell you that means he's a "f**king loser coach, not fit for waterboy at my high school", but look what happened after that. Marv was a "f**king loser coach" too when he got to Buffalo, his KC record was 31-42. Winning a championship with the JV Alouettes with 3 downs and a 55 yard line doesn't mean jack.

Rex's last couple years in NY not good enough? Give Belichick Geno Smith for a QB for 2 years and let's see what his record is.

I don't think it's really cronyism. Fisher has proven he can coach well in the NFL. The list of people walking the streets out there (who want to coach) who've proven likewise is very short.

Where has changing coaches every 3 years gotten the Bills?

  2. I've been seeing/hearing a lot of Kyle Orton hating, both on this forum and on WGR, and I'm curious as to where all of the hate is coming from. Over the past three weeks, Orton has averaged 297 yards, 1.66 TDs, and 1 INT per game. If you extrapolate his numbers over an entire 16 game season, he would finish with 4,750 yards, 27 TDs and 16 INT.

So, with that being said, I don't get how anyone can say that he's even been average. Honestly, Orton has performed like a borderline top 10 QB over the past 3 weeks, and he's done this while being with the team for less than 2 months.

Over the past three weeks, Orton has put up those numbers with terrible o-line play, and no running game to speak of. And then to top it off, he's done all of this against three top 10 pass defenses (based on YPG, 2 top 10 defenses if you go by passer rating against). Also, in regard to his turnovers, he's on pace for 16 INTs. Romo, Luck, both Mannings, Roethlisberger, Stafford, Rivers and Brees have all had 18+ INT seasons. So, does that mean that they're all average QBs?

Oh, and not to mention, the Bills are 2-1 under Orton, and in both games he played some of his best football when it mattered the most to lead the Bills to wins. So, lets hear it, why should I be underwhelmed with Orton's performances over the past three weeks?

I like Orton just fine, if he could just get rid of the habit of throwing one grievous interception per game.

  3. Should have had at least one week in jail. Incarceration will make someone think before doing something stupid again.

We have more people in jail than China. He'll be poor for a long time. That's correct (he pays for his mistake) and better for all of us (he still participates in the economy, hopefully) rather than being provided free healthcare, 3 hots, and a cot.

  4. We're all mad about those draft choices in 06 and 09 because for once the casual fan DID know better than the Bills front office. We were screaming for Ngata when they drafted Whitner in 06 and screaming for Orakpo when they took Maybin in 09.

  5. I see Fredex being the odd man out, mostly due to his age. He could be the last training camp cut or a traded for like a 6th or 7th round pick for next year.

Never forget how good Fred is at picking up blitzes on our potentially fragile 2nd year QB.

  6. He does count UDFAs such as Robey in his re-grade. From the article:

"On the undrafted free agents: I consider it fair to consider those guys because, really, that's a part of the draft in many ways. The draft is short to better allocate rookies, so, how well teams add players after Mr. Irrelevant is claimed matters. And I certainly scout and rate far more players than will be drafted."

  7.

"Watching the game alone in my crappy apartment in Houston in ’93. Trying in a frenzy to call home after Steve Christie kicked the comeback winner – and all the lines to Buffalo were jammed. The freaking lines were JAMMED. God, how I loved my tough little hometown at that moment. I went out on my balcony with my Bills sweatshirt and hat on and screamed every abuse I could think of at Houston for about 15 minutes (until I thought the better of it; lots of guns in Houston)."

It's funny that you bring up infrastructure. Sometimes it's not the game itself but the little things. In 1991 I was at college in NYC and came back to Lockport to visit my family. I remember how literally all of WNY was focused on the Bills. Walking through the Eastern Hills Mall looked like the concourse at Rich Stadium....a sea of blue and red. Every two-bit tavern had something on their signs "watch the game here" or just " Go Bills".

Anyway, after the game my uncle needed a ride to see his buddy who happened to work at the water company. I guess they were getting high later, but the guy showed me an interesting thing...the 51-3 Bills game nearly caused a water emergency in the City of Lockport. They had these machines with spiral graphs that tracked water usage over time. He showed me where water use dropped to almost ZERO around 1 PM, and the 41-3 masterpiece first half had glued everyone to the screen. Then, around 2:15, a 20,000 gallon spike that he said set off low pressure alarms and forced him to open valves to reserve tanks he'd never used. Yes, the entire town got up to take a whiz at the half and apparently flushed almost in unison.

Then the Miami game in 2002 during the "blizzard", what most of us would just call a snowy day. The Bills are getting killed by Ricky Williams on the ground but improbably, Bledsoe pulls the Bills ahead 31-21 on two long pass plays to Moulds and Price and the crowd could smell victory. As if to seal the coffin, during the timeout between the third and fourth quarters a gust kicks up and the snow falls hard enough that I started to lose sight of the crowd on the other side of the Stadium. But I could HEAR them though, because we knew Miami had to miserable in the snow and the crowd cheered that snow gust as if it was another touchdown.
