  1. I was aware of TO being signed but I never paid attention to number or even his jersey since I expect he is a one year deal. Do not even look at numbers until roster solidifies after 4th preseason game.

    Thanks.

Thats true, I pay way more attention to gas prices than I do to a jersey numbers. I guess I just figured that TO would take #16 since nobody had that one yet.

If I'm not mistaken,, #6 is also available.

  2. Let's wait until Shawn Nelson, Eric Wood or whatever we do with our 6th round pick next year make the pro-bowl or impress in a regular season game before we say that we won the trade.

I agree murra. Every trade has its price. This one is special in that we drafted another lineman with the main pick that we traded for. Basically, its Wood (+others) vs. Peters. Time will tell how well that works out for us, but so far, I like it.

  3. One sidenote about him, I noticed last night on the play where Hamden threw the INT, he came running down the field to make the tackle, ran right past the guy who had the ball, and hit the guy behind him. Did anyone else see this? I even looked at it again with the DVR to make sure that I saw it right.

He did look good blocking though.

  4. A message board?

Actually, I saw yesterday afternoon on Comcast SportsNet (the sports news channel here in Philly), the announcers were kind of pissed that Peters has only practiced 5 or 6 times so far this season. The rest were excused absences and the injury. That was before the game where he gave up a 1st series sack.

  5. Good question, meaning one to which I don't know the answer. Washington and Indy played the HOF Game last year. I'll check their rookie signings and report back.

Washington didn't have a first-rounder, but loaded up on passcatchers in the second with Devin Thomas, Malcolm Kelly, and Fred Davis.

Indy also traded away their first-round selection. They took G Mike Pollak in the second, LB Phillip Wheeler in the third.

So the deals were done, but on the brink of training camp. Typical. That, and the extra week built into the schedule this year, are why I'm not overly concerned ... yet. Would be nice to have everyone on the field by the end of the weekend, though.

Thanks for looking that up. I'll consider it a problem if Maybin & Wood miss more than the first week, but I expect it to be at least the first few days of camp.

  6. Just one question: Okay, so the Bills are allegedly waiting for other teams to sign their picks so they can "slot" their players. Fine. But who are the other teams waiting for?

Meaning: Just this once, because the Bills will be in camp before any of those other teams, can't they work out acceptable contracts for their players without waiting to see what everyone else does? Lead, not follow? I realize that goes against the deeply-ingrained culture at One Bills Drive, but it's worth a thought.

Thats the first thing that I thought when I heard this, but figured that there was something that I didn't know about that had to happen first. It makes all the sense in the world this year for Buffalo/Tennessee to set the precedent.

My question is does this happen every year to the teams that are in the HOF game? The Bills were in it in '89, but the game was alot different 20 yrs ago.

  7. I'm hoping this is more to the fact that we're starting earlier than most teams, due to the HOF game. Many draftees are -as yet- unsigned, but the annual big week of signings is only 2 weeks away. When the picks just after Maybin and just before him sign, everyone will know the very close ballbark he will likely sign for.

I think that is the case, too. I haven't seen the story yet, but it makes sense to me that starting a week early will lead to delays in the signings. However, I'm sure that the spin on the story will be focused on the trigger word "holdout".

  8. Jemaine Clement is definitely good on the show but I think Rhys Darby (Murray) is more deserving as a Best Supporting Actor. I also disagree with some of the song selections as liked many other songs not nominated better. Either way I just hope the show stays on the air as think it's easily one of the best comedies on tv now but fear it might not have the audience to last.

I agree about Murray. He's probably the main reason why I tune into that show.

  9. To be honest, inviting 65 kids to a country club is just a horrible idea in the first place. Who wants to drop $5K/yr to belong to a country club when they let 65 kids bombard the pool? White or black, its a bad idea to start with.

I've golfed at the Philmont, which is right next to this, and have seen this pool. An influx of 65 kids would literally fill it because it isn't that big.

Bad idea by the club, and a situation that could have been easily avoided. To me, it seems that race wasn't the issue here (regardless of a few overheard, snide remarks by the members), it was the number of people.
