I’m almost 55. OJ Simpson was the first sports name I ever knew. I became a Bills fan before I became a sports fan, because my dad watched football on Sundays and I wanted to be with him. Just watch number 32, he’d say. That’s OJ. I bet a lot of you around my age will say the same. I was a first-year law student at UB when the verdict was announced. It happened during our Criminal Law class, ironically enough. And I feel pretty safe in saying that the reaction was a lot more mixed there than it was in any other 1L crim law class in the country that day, only because a good many of us - it’s still a very local school - had grown up with him as our first sports hero. And though deep down we all knew he was guilty, we also desperately wanted that not to be true - but we wouldn’t admit that to anyone who wasn’t one of us. As the years have gone by, of course, I’ve only become more convinced of his guilt, and come to terms with it. So when I heard the news of his death, I felt…pretty much nothing. The OJ I idolized as a child died for me 30 years ago.

I was just thinking about that this morning. His HOF candidacy will now turn on whatever he's able to do in Houston and/or wherever he goes after next year. If he lasts another five years and doesn't win anything, he'll probably get in as a compiler after having to wait awhile. He has had exactly one memorable positive playoff moment (and it wasn't in Buffalo), and it was a single play. Andre is seen as a compiler and had to wait a long time; he had seven Pro Bowls to Diggs' four, nine postseason TD catches to Diggs' four, at one point he had more Super Bowl receptions than any other WR, plus he had that three-TD second-half performance in the Comeback. Diggs gotta do some work if he wants to be seen on that level.

Do you think Allen feels relief after the Diggs trade?
BRH replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall
I know *I* felt relief, not that anyone cares. It's going to be interesting to see whether the national media scrutinizes Diggs' actions as closely in Houston as they did here. Anyway, my guess is the convo went like this: BEANE: Josh, we're thinking of trading Stef. Just wanted to let you know. ALLEN: <pause> BEANE: Josh? ALLEN: You sure? BEANE: That's all I needed to hear. -
Everyone saying “don’t trade up in a WR-heavy class” was probably also saying we shouldn’t have traded up to pick a QB in Josh’s year. There may be a bunch of first-round talents. But not all of them will pan out and not all of them will fit here, in Buffalo, in this offense, with this QB. I think Beane knows who he wants for this team. If you’ve identified the guy you have to have, go get him. Don’t worry about what it costs.

He’s someone else’s problem now.

***** Joe Mixon.

"This ain't gonna help us stop Josh Allen. Ain't nothin' gonna help us stop Josh Allen." 🤣 Finally proof that not EVERY Dolphins fan is a complete moron.
-
I don't know him but being from Penfield and a couple of years behind him in age, I know people who do. The ironic thing? Russ Brandon gave him his first job in sports, at the Bills' Pittsford ticket office back in '98.

Even better, they think they got one over on us and made us worse. I guess McDaniel doesn't value speed on defense
-
These are the kinds of threads that we make fun of when we see them on Finheaven. "The Bills are better than us." "No they're not, just because they beat us every time it matters doesn't mean they're better." Don't be that guy.

I saw Armando come up through the Orioles' system in Rochester. He might have been 180 in middle school.
-
They're about to lose Christian Wilkins too, unless they franchise him for huge money or he takes a discount in order to keep grabbing Josh's junk twice a year.
-
The whiners are mad because it goes against Tyler Dunne's their narrative. They've been told everyone who works for McDermott runs for the door the first chance they get. Now Babich gets interviews with three different teams and says you know what? I kinda like it here.

So will you be watching the Super Bowl this year or no?
BRH replied to BillsPride12's topic in The Stadium Wall
I've seen 45 SBs in a row (XII, Dallas-Denver was my first) and I've hatewatched just about all of those. It gets me through it. I think the only times I've ever been truly happy at the end of a SB is when the Pats lost. -
And Lamar is, which is the biggest joke.
-
Wait, you're suggesting that a team should pay the Patriots to take Mac Jones off their hands? Shouldn't it be the other way around? That B word is getting cut.

Brady -> Mahomes AFC dominance is best case for league realignment

And then when they ask "how is my kid supposed to get better if she never plays" and you suggest that they put in extra time outside of practice developing skills and getting stronger/faster, they get offended. I'm so happy to be done with that scene. Parents are a piece of work. -

Are you advocating a 31-game schedule? -
Right now I'm just trying to take some pleasure from the fact that Pats fans are getting all worked up because they see Mahomes coming for Brady's mantle already.

This has to be a troll.... doesn't it? -

Welp that’s that. Now they need an onside. -

Monumental collapse. 27-0 since that decision to go for it.
