  1. Though that is a striking number, circumstances change each year. If EJ does fail, and we have an off season similar to last season in terms QB availability, we're screwed. The only QB on the market this pas off-season, either on the trading block or FA, was Michael Vick (or Matt Schaub/Fitz if you really think they're starters).

The Brees/Alex Smith scenario, where there's two starting QB's on one roster, is a near impossibility for next year. Name one team with two desirable, franchise-type QB's right now.

All I'm saying is, I don't love the second round QB's of the past two drafts, and if that continues we're doubly in trouble. Additionally I doubt Alex Smith or Andy Dalton will finish the regular season without a contract. Barring the outside chance of Tony Romo or Sam Bradford (yikes), I can only really see guys like Cousins, Ponder, Hoyer or Jake Locker being available to us. Agree or disagree with the WGR guys, but that list you comprised does not accurately reflect the level of difficulty that comes along with finding a franchise QB without a first round pick.

  2. Much of the blame should lie on the fact we gave Fitz our total confidence for two years, without even considering drafting someone during his tenure (like a Wilson or Dalton that could have sat for a year behind him).

The only other option that undoubtedly would have been smarter than drafting EJ would have been trading for Alex Smith. Heck, we could have even outbid the Chiefs by just giving the 49ers our first round pick (being that we used it on a QB anyway), and we still would have came away with either Woods, Kiko or both due to the fact that we allegedly "reached" for Kiko. That would have been my route if I were GM; alas, I am not.

  3. I think when it comes down to it, Thad is more of a finished product; however I believe Tuel may have a higher ceiling (though it may not be that high to begin with). I think Thad is grossly inaccurate at times with easier throws that need to be made, whereas Tuel can make the shorter throws, but struggles down the middle. This obviously is based on the 1.25 games Tuel played.

I know I'll probably get the, "Thad won two games" defense, but let's be real, Mario won that first Miami game for us.

But this is really a moot point being that both of these guys are not back-up QB material.

  4. Stevie was as productive a wide out we've had since Andre; however I think his antics were too much to deal with for a guy who was not even truly a number one wide out. How could you not love the guy? Worked his butt off from his first day of rookie camp after being taken that late, made his impression on fans, constantly praised Buffalo on social media, etc. He will be (and deservingly so) a fan favorite for a long time.

I certainly think we wouldn't be worse off if we still had him but we don't know what goes on inside that locker room. We can only decipher how a player acts from the media and from press conferences, and unfortunately I can remember several times in which Stevie did not take accountability for his actions/poor play, i.e. the Atlanta game last year.If you recall, rather than acknowledging his blunder and taking responsibility for at least part of the loss, he got combative with reporters and tried to disregard the fumble by reminding them that he caught the game-winning TD versus Carolina. One of those times when you wonder how good of a locker room influence could he possibly be if he's pulling moves like that with reporters?

  5. Unfortunately, right now the replacement has to be on the roster because the UFA field is very thin. They'll probably be scouring the waiver wire over the summer, but this is where the depth is key to winning programs. What's Bryan Scott up to these days?

If there was ever a thought of Bills still running a modified 3-4, that talk is now totally done.

I would say the reason for the thin UFA field is that it is such a refined position with so few effective players available. Running Backs are a diamond dozen. the Cornerback position may be a little top heavy but there's always a vet or two out there to fill in, same goes for WR, interior O-Line and safety. OLB is one of those positions that requires such a high degree of speed, size and skill that its nearly impossible to replace this late into the offseason.

  6. I understand that the NFL is a goliath compared to all other major sports in this country but does that mean we, as fans, have to be exposed to this kind of nonsense all the time? One day its a discussion about relocation, then it's expansion over seas, then it's expanding the playoffs. They always say "any publicity is good publicity" but for the NFL's case, they may need to rethink that. This goes well beyond being a Bills fan, it applies to all fans.

Say what you will about the NHL, MLB and the NBA but at least their avid fans can focus on the actual game more than NFL fans can. Goodell needs to instill a certain degree of normalcy back to this sport.

  7. Pros of the dome:

    Overall better fan experience

Will be able to host other events from October-April

Possible Super Bowl/ NCAA March Madness hosting

Will probably give the stadium a longer period of adequacy than an outdoor stadium (i.e. no weathering)

No ridiculous winds off the lake (assuming it's downtown/near the waterfront).

    Cons of the dome:

    Snow games.

    Sooooooo from a business perspective...
