If the Bills sign Ziggy, I could see them trying to trade Lawson or maybe hold onto him.  He's still on a cheap rookie contract.  I think it would mean that Yarbrough would be cut.  Plus letting Lawson walk as a free agent may yield a comp pick.

Per Spotrac, Lawsons 2019 money is fully guaranteed....there's no way he gets cut, even if Ziggy comes to town....

  2. What am I missing - why WOULDN'T he be extended (option picked up)? If there is no downside - he can always be released prior to his fifth year with no money lost - but there is upside, if he does put it all together this year and have a breakout year, we retain his rights for another year, to play, sign to a longer contract, or trade.

I don't see Tampa passing on Allen OR Quinnen Williams.  Now that they're moving to a 3-4 defense under Bowles, either player would be a perfect fit for that scheme.

Not saying passing on those two makes sense to me either, but Tampa is rumored to be in love with Devin White, and they do have a need at LB.....hope those rumors are true....

Im not saying I think he's gonna contribute much. But since he's been paid, they may as well keep him for emergency/ spot duty. I agree tho, he's not healthy. It was a definite miss in FA thus far.....

Murphy would not be on the team right now if the Bills did not believe he could contribute next year. The Bills had an out, coulda saved $2.5 million - you gotta trust that they know more than us......

Houston fits any system.  He sets the edge very well....rushes the passer very well...and is above average in coverage...though you'd rather not have him doing that when he does other things better.

KC will release him if no trade partner can be found....and the whole thing is about the cap and contract....by releasing Houston, KC saves 14 million in cap space and takes a 7 million hit.  Any team that would trade for Houston would be on the hook for his salary this year wich is high, at 21 million, but he has no more guaranteed money left on the deal...so lets say you as Buffalo make a deal.....you pay a high price now....wich you and your massive cap space, can absorb...and if he doesn't work out, you can cut with no cap hit next year...or you like him, and he costs you 21 mil in 19 and 19 mill in 2020.  Good overall player...not just a pass rusher....has been injury prone but was mostly healthy finaly last year and he had a very strong season.

As a Chiefs fan...I'd love to keep him, but our roster construction and cap at this time doens't allow it.

I'm no contract wiz, and not that I think this is a good fit, but signing and restructure bonuses are KC's hit, correct? So the team that trades for him is only liable for salary and workout bonus, which would be "only" $15.5 mil in 2019 and $17.5 mil in 2020 (with no 2020 cap hit if we released him after one year)?

  6. McCarron's role was supposed to be as a bridge QB, to be a hopefully decent starter and hold down the fort while the kid learned the ropes. McCarron had little starting experience, and while he did not make waves, he came here to be a starter and had no real desire to sit on the bench as a mentor and educator. When he could not even beat out Peterman in the preseason, his value to the Bills dropped off a cliff, essentially an expensive 3rd-stringer who doesn't play special teams. Anderson is a much better fit for the backup position - a much cheaper replacement who offers real value beyond emergency fill-in duties if your starter gets hurt. And I'm guessing that's why the Bills were talking to Anderson well before he did agree to sign with the team.

  7. Yesterday's stats:

Tyrod to Zay: 2/9 (22.2%) for 17 Yards (1.89 YPA)

Tyrod to everyone else: 18/24 (75%) for 251 Yards (10.46 YPA) and 1 TD

One of the Sirius XM football channels devoted several minutes to Zay this morning - and not in a nice way. They reported his season catch rate was below 22%, while every other Bills WR had a catch rate % in the 60's or higher (Mathews was highest, in the 70's). This is not a slight difference - it's a cliff drop! I personally wish him well, and would not give up on him, but he needs seasoning and practice time to figure things out - and until then, he should not be seeing as many game day targets as he is.

36 targets on the season (if I remember right) is starting-WR target numbers, we need more production on those targets or we are handcuffing ourselves. It's not like this is a lost season and we can afford to let him slowly figure things out over a full season.

  8. ....55 mil in franchise fees sharing for clubs moving will keep Terry and Kim outta soup kitchen lines...not to worry..............

Everyone seems to think the relocation fees are much larger than they really are.....Bills share has a value of $27 million TOTAL, and will be paid over 10 years, starting in 2019.....a few million a year is peanuts in the overall operating budget, and is not gonna make any real difference in the small market teams ability to sink or swim..

  9. Man, if you watched this kid when he came in, he looked every bit as solid as Woods. Watch the tape!

I would cut bait with Woods now or see if you can trade him for something and use that cash on a position of need, perhaps another DB or maybe bring Zach a brown back. Just saying...

Ummm......Woods is already gone to Rams. Wood is still our starting center....adds to credibility if you can get the names right....just saying....and I respectfully disagree. Groy is great depth for the inevitable injury. I will be happy if he never has to fill in for Wood.

  10. Problems with drafting your replacement - we have NO other option. We wouldn't have tyrod, and we'll have a gaping hole at the most important position.

Of the first 6 picks - 5 would have to at least consider QBs.

The Browns are the only that I'll say probably won't unless one of the dudes really steps up. Niners/Bears both need QBs. So in all likelihood 1 comes off the board there (maybe 1 snags Tyrod and thinks they can improve elsewhere). Next you have Jacksonville - who may fall in love with a Watson or Mahomes and try to sell tickets - but this could be a spot to trade up to.

The Titans will want an impact player at 5, or to trade and get more picks (more bullets - more chances to hit). Either way the price to move from 10 to 4 or 5 is next year's first...

6th is the Jets - so that means another comes off the board. The next 3 are unlikely to take a QB - but that doesn't mean Houston, Cleveland, Chicago. But everyone knows we want one - so this will be where offers may come in to jump us.

The rookie we get might be the 3rd or 4th off the board, and a massive overdraft. And we're getting excited for the 3rd or 4th best QB in a mediocre QB class...

Fully agree - and the other thing here is that if you draft a QB in the first (or second) round, you are missing the opportunity to get a high impact player at another position. Would you rather have: (a) TT plus a top-ten pick at a position of need that is much less likely to be a bust; or (b) a hit-or-miss "3rd or 4th best QB in a mediocre QB class"? This is a no-brainer to me.....

  11. Not that he'll demand huge bucks, but Goodwin becomes a UFA at end of this year anyway (only $150K in dead money if we drop him now), and so is replaced by a guy with a higher potential ceiling and one that is (hopefully) less injury prone, and is locked up for years to come at a more team friendly price. Oh, and Listenbee is a stud gunner on special teams .No brainer for a late round pick.
