Column: On the verge of being a hero, Josh Allen shoulders blame for Bills’ last-second loss

‘”Throughout the game, I put the ball in harm’s way too often,” he said. “It shouldn’t have come down to one play. I take this very personally. The two interceptions can’t happen. You can’t expect to win after turning the ball over.”‘

Analysis: DeAndre Hopkins shows his greatness in breaking Bills’ hearts

‘“It was on three people,” Hopkins said. “They were in position, it was just a better catch by I,” he said.’

Observations: System-wide failures for Bills preceded wild swings against Cardinals

‘“The third quarter was big,” Bills defensive end Jerry Hughes said. “We gave up 17 points. You can’t do that coming out of the half. We’ve got to play better. We know that if we want to win games, if we want to go in the direction that we want to go, the defense has to be the backbone of this team.”’

Bills’ Cole Beasley helps deliver late lead vs Cardinals with 11 catches

‘Beasley finished with a game-high 11 catches on 13 targets for 109 yards and a touchdown, contributing his second 11-catch performance in four games.’

Josh Norman says he’s doing ‘just fine’ after Covid-19 diagnosis

‘“I’m sending this video because I want you to know I’m doing just fine,” Norman said in the video, thanking fans for their support. “Actually better than fine. I think it’s just a formality we have to go through when you’re going through protocol. … I definitely want to say for the people who are actually going through this in a much more severe way, my heart goes out to y’all. It really, truly does.”‘

Quarter by quarter: Cards thoroughly outplayed Bills much of second half

‘The advantage in the game shifted when Bills tight end Dawson Knox was called for an illegal block in the back penalty 21 yards downfield, at the end of a 21-yard pass to Devin Singletary. It wiped out the play, and Josh Allen threw an interception on the next play.’

Report Card: One play drastically changes Bills’ pass defense grade

‘Running game: D: Once again an afterthought. The Bills had just 18 attempts. Devin Singletary had just four attempts for 15 yards. One of those carries went for 13 yards, meaning the other three produced just 2 yards.’

Buffalo Bills have majored in agonizing losses but Hopkins Hail Mary is one of the worst

‘But I’m guessing Bills fans don’t want to hear that because let’s be honest, the Bills have majored in gut-wrenching, vomit-inducing, tear-your-hair-out defeats for quite a while now, and somehow they always manage to top themselves.’

Bills report card: Hail Mary catch by DeAndre Hopkins never should have happened

‘The Bills can’t run the ball, at least not when Allen hands off. It has become a weekly struggle to do anything on the ground, and this is the time of year when that can’t be the case.’

Cardinals stage their version of ‘Music City’ win

‘This one won’t be easy for Buffalo’s players to forget.’

Bass boots way to Bills’ record book

‘Bass became the first Bill with three 50-yard-plus field goals in a game and the second in NFL history with a trio of at least 54 yards, tying Houston’s Kurt Brown in 2007.’

Kyler Murray, Cardinals best Josh Allen, Bills after both throw insane TDs in final minute: Instant observations

‘The Bills had a pretty good plan for Murray and held him in check in the first half. The Cardinals had to settle for three field goals in the first half and Murray was visibly frustrated. The pressure was good throughout the game but it was the containment in this one was where the Bills’ front really shined in this one. Murray got going in the second half a bit more, especially with his legs. He finished with three touchdowns and two of them were on the ground.’

Josh Allen’s late game heroics not enough for Bills vs. Cardinals (5 reasons to be encouraged, 6 reasons to be worried)

‘No one is expecting or asking Allen to be perfect, but he needs to be smarter when it comes to decision making. There are times where he simply trusts his arm too much in terms of squeezing passes into tight windows. He acknowledged post-game that he needs to stop putting the ball in harm’s way. Interceptions will still occur going forward, but Allen can still do his part by cutting down on dangerous throws.’

Bills fall as Cardinals’ prayers answered on Hail Mary (Week 10 report card)

‘It was not a good day for Buffalo’s backs.’

Bills’ Micah Hyde will play vs. Cardinals, plus other inactive news

‘Bills Mafia can breathe a sigh of relief because Hyde is active and will start for the Bills in a massive road showdown with the Arizona Cardinals.’

Five takeaways: Bills lose heartbreaker on Cardinals’ last second hail mary

‘After the Bills’ fumble recovery and a subsequent touchdown, which gave them a 14-point lead midway through the third, it quickly went downhill. The Cardinals responded with a touchdown on the ensuing drive, then the Bills’ next possession ended on a shanked punt from Corey Bojorquez that traveled only 12 yards and provided Arizona with excellent field position, which they converted into a field goal. On the drive following the field goal, Josh Allen threw the first of his two interceptions, which led to an Arizona touchdown, and when the dust cleared, it was suddenly 26-23 Cardinals with 8 seconds left in the third quarter.’

Sullivan: No moral victories for Bills in heartbreaking loss

‘Then it happened again. The Bills lost a game in a fashion so bizarre and unlikely that it had to revive the fatalistic impulses of long-suffering fans, leaving them to wonder if things will ever truly change.’

Hail Murray: Cardinals Stun Bills 32-30 In Final Seconds

‘“Yeah, I thought we guarded it pretty well,” Bills safety Jordan Poyer said. “We had three people around him . … It’s really not a whole lot of anything else to say, just got to find a way to get that ball out of his hands some way, somehow.”’

Bills Baffled, Bitter After Hopkins’ Last-Second TD Catch

‘“I’ve kind of been on both sides of the spectrum here in Arizona,” said Hyde, who played for the Packers from 2013-16. “And this one doesn’t feel good.”’

QB Josh Allen catches TD pass as Bills get tricky to take early lead

‘After faking a jet sweep to Isaiah McKenzie on first-and-10 from the Cardinals’ 14-yard line, the Bills ran the exact same play on second down — or so it seemed.’

Cardinals vs. Bills score: DeAndre Hopkins delivers unbelievable game-winning catch from Kyler Murray

‘Instead, they allowed Allen to throw 49 times on the road — against an opportunistic secondary, no less — and must now live with the consequences. This was a loss that didn’t have to happen to Buffalo, but in several ways, they earned it.’

DeAndre Hopkins’ mind-blowing Hail Mary catch from Kyler Murray stuns Bills, NFL world

‘On the deciding play, Murray rolled left before sending the ball skyward, a pass not unlike the ones Russell Wilson throws that Cris Collinsworth has dubbed “moon balls.” Waiting in the end zone was Hopkins, ready to justify the already-questionable cost for his trade and really stick a knife in Texans’ fans hearts after Houston lost 10-7 to the Browns earlier Sunday. And much like Calvin Johnson once did for the Lions, Hopkins hopped higher than everyone else and came down with the football.’

Bills fall to Cardinals on Hopkins’ last-second TD

‘The Buffalo defense did a good job limiting Arizona’s high-powered offense in the first half, holding them to three field goals despite the Cardinals getting inside the Bills’ 25-yard line on each of those drives. However, it was a totally different story in the second half, as a 17-point third quarter that featured a pair of rushing scores from Murray, pushed the Cardinals ahead going into the final frame.’

Opinion: Three observations: Another poor third quarter hurts Bills in loss

‘There is a lot Buffalo can take away from this game, positive and negative. The Bills played a great first half and did a good job controlling Murray and limiting the high-powered Arizona offense. But, another sluggish third quarter, a trend for Buffalo this season, put the Bills in a hole heading into the fourth, and Stefon Diggs’ 21-yard go-ahead touchdown catch with 34 seconds to go wasn’t enough to seal the victory.’

Opinion: With a competitive team, comes the possibility of heartbreak

‘As much as the offense has carried the torch this season, they hold a heavy portion of the blame when it comes to their failures because of their inability to execute in the third quarter. Currently, it’s the single biggest roadblock this team faces in their quest to an AFC East title and potentially an AFC Championship. If the offense can find a way to push aside their third quarter struggles and put together a full four quarter performance, the Bills might really be the biggest threat to the Kansas City Chiefs.’

Opinion: Arrow Up/Arrow Down: Bills at Cardinals

‘As good as Allen was at the start and end, there was a lot to inconsistency and bad passes in the middle. Twice he threw the ball into the arms of Cardinals CB Patrick Peterson, but Peterson didn’t hold on for the interception. But then Peterson did grab one, and so did Dre Kirkpatrick, both on badly thrown Allen passes. In the second and third quarters, Allen combined to go 13-for-23 for 108 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT.’

Bills fall short to Cardinals 32-30 in wild finish

‘But the Bills’ struggles against the running game in the first half were amplified in the second half. In Kenyan Drake’s first game back for Arizona in three weeks, he ran for over 100 yards. Quarterback Kyler Murray also ran for two scores.’

Bills forging ahead after last-second loss with bye week on the horizon

‘”We’re pros. And we understand that there’s going to be a winner and there’s going to be a loser,” left tackle Dion Dawkins said. “The good thing is that this wasn’t the Super Bowl and we have plenty more games to play.”‘

“Gut Punch”: Bills players react to Sunday night’s Hail Mary play

‘”Nervousness? No. But it’s a 60 minute game,” left tackle Dion Dawkins said. “Until that clock shows zeroes, it isn’t over. And [the Cardinals] clearly showed that today.”‘

Murray’s Hail Mary ends late Bills comeback 32-30

‘But the Cardinals would not go gentle into that goodnight. With two seconds left in the game, Murray does what he does best and extends a play, scrambling and throwing up a prayer, and it’s DeAndre Hopkins that mosses four Bills defenders in the end zone for the go ahead touchdown.’

Bills third quarter struggles continue in loss to Cardinals

‘The Cardinals scored 17 straight points before Allen’s 21-yard touchdown pass to Stefon Diggs with 34 seconds left.’

“The ball was in the air for like 10 minutes”

‘“I was late getting in the air, I feel like I could have done a better job on that part. I was trapped behind him, I feel like I could’ve timed it better. That one hurts, that one hurts,” Hyde said.’

Allen ends up-and-down day with TD to Diggs

‘“I can’t give two turnovers to the other team and expect to win,” Allen said.’

Sean McDermott reacts to CB Josh Norman testing positive for COVID-19

‘“It’s unfortunate any time someone tests positive and the guys that were apparently exposed couldn’t make the trip either but listen, no excuses, no explanations. We gotta get the job done,” Bills head coach Sean McDermott said after a 32-30 loss to the Cardinals.’

Bills QB Josh Allen on loss to Arizona: “It shouldn’t have come down to one play”

‘“Obviously losing’s never fun. To lose like that, it’s painful, it hurts you know that’s why you play 60 minutes of the game and throughout the game I put the ball in harm’s way too often. It shouldn’t have come down to one play,” Allen said.’

Cardinals top Bills in last-second stunner

‘The Bills defense forces a punt, but Allen and the offense isn’t able to take advantage as Dre Kirkpatrick intercepts Allen. That was Allen’s second interception of the game and seventh of the season. The Bills defense is able to foce another punt to start a drive at it’s own 22-yard line. Josh Allen and the Bills put together an impressive scoring drive of 12-plays and 78-yards that featured heavy targeting and production from receiver Cole Beasley. Allen capped it with a 21-yard TD strike to Stefon Diggs with :34 left in the game giving Buffalo a 30-26 lead.’

Cardinals stun Bills on late Hail Mary

‘Allen had a pretty good day, apart from the two interceptions. He was 22 of 39 for 284 yards and two touchdowns. Beasley had the monster day receiving with 11 catches for 109 yards and a score. Diggs very good also: 10 catches for 93 yards and the late go-ahead TD. John Brown was six for 72. The run game was non-existent. Singletary and Zack Moss combined for 35 yards on 11 carries.’

Bills reminded there’s still a step they must climb

‘This game did have a whiff of a 2019 with when it comes to Allen. Sure, he pulled off the 4th quarter comeback, but he was a big reason there needed to be a comeback in the first place. He had two second half interceptions, but we all know he was lucky that number wasn’t twice as big. The Bills offense did not cross midfield in the second half until the final drive (their first second half TD was set up in Arizona territory by a fumble).’

Hopkins Hail Mary beats Bills at buzzer

‘Josh Allen led what should have been his twelfth game-winning drive in another clutch comeback performance.’
