‘The Bills’ acquisition of veteran fullback Larry Centers should aid that cause. Centers, who agreed to free-agent contract terms with the team Tuesday, figures to add a dimension to the Bills’ offense that was too often absent last year – the dump-off pass to the back in the flat.’

‘A native of Tatum, TX, Centers was a fifth-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals in the 1990 NFL draft out of Stephen F. Austin and went on to play in Arizona from 1990-98. He is the Cardinals’ all-time receptions leader and set an NFL record for receptions by a running back with 101 in 1995.’

‘The NFL free-agent market was glutted with big-name fullbacks, but the Buffalo Bills feel they landed the one that best fits their needs.’

Len Pasquarelli says the Bills tried to send Smith to Carolina on draft day, but couldn't get the deal done. They need the $900,000 in cap room the release of Smith will carve out for them to sign rookies.
