Two Bills Drive

‘There was plenty to celebrate in Week 1 for the Bills, especially when it came to the wide receiver spot. Of all the positions on offense, none was debated more than the team’s group of wideouts in the offseason. Did general manager Brandon Beane do enough to strengthen the group for Josh Allen? Would somebody outside of Khalil Shakir step up? If so, whom would it be?’

‘Slow the run game. The Bills got gashed last week by the Ravens, who picked up 238 yards on the ground. “And no one in the defensive room thinks anything of that nature was acceptable,” said Buff alo defensive coordinator Bobby Babich. “… So we need to get those things corrected, and we will.” Of course, no other team in the NFL boasts Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry, but the Jets still present a unique challenge. They had 182 rushing yards last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Jets running back Breece Hall had 107 yards on 19 carries last week, his most since Week 6 last year against the Buff alo Bills, when he picked up 113 rushing yards on 18 carries.’

37.1: The Jets threw the ball on 37.1% of their snaps in Week 1, the lowest rate among any NFL team. They rushed for 182 yards and three touchdowns on 39 carries, with running back Breece Hall gaining 107 yards on 19 carries. If this is a close game Sunday, New York can lean on the run the way it did in its 34-32 loss to the Steelers.’

‘the Jets’ defense has given Bills quarterback Josh Allen trouble in the past, but not so much since Joe Brady took over as the Bills’ offensive coordinator. buffalo is 3-0 against New York with Brady calling plays, and has averaged 31.7 points per game in those wins. While the Jets’ offense was better than expected last week against Pittsburgh (32 points scored), the defense couldn’t contain Aaron Rodgers. that’s bad news with Allen coming to town. Bills, 35-21.’

‘I’m not in favor of either move – a new coordinator or a new play caller. It would undermine Bobby Babich, who needs space to grow into the job. There are going to be bad calls from a defensive coordinator, the same way there are going to be bad plays by players.’

‘It seemed like a good idea to Tasker who, unlike Beebe, has never really left the Bills. Tasker came to Buffalo in 1986, three years before Beebe, and retired in 1997, three years after Beebe left. Rather than return to their native Kansas, Tasker and his wife, Sarah, continued their life in Western New York. They raised their kids in East Aurora, a short drive from the stadium, and Tasker became a broadcaster. He worked nationally for CBS, and now for the Bills.’
