‘“I think teams were doing a good job of playing two high (safeties) and taking some things away that we were doing well during the season,” Allen said. “I thought we ran the ball more and put more effort into the run game. Then I missed a few throws early on in the season or the middle of the season, late in the season that could have changed the narrative about this whole thing. So just get back to what we know, how we can play and that’s about it.”’

‘McDermott and Vrabel do have a good relationship, but I’d be surprised if that happens. The main reason is Vrabel would likely want to come to a team that gives him total control over the defense – if he were even willing to serve as a defensive coordinator. He wouldn’t have that under McDermott in Buffalo. If Vrabel doesn’t get a head-coaching job – openings remain in Seattle and Washington – I could see him working in TV for a year and then trying again when the 2025 hiring cycle starts.’

‘“It was a good season, feel it ended too fast, though,” Oliver said Monday. “Wasn’t ready to go home, didn’t think I’d be going home right now.”’

‘“It was like a no-brainer,” Hamlin said Friday on a call to promote the campaign. “Something that I was doing personally was wing series once I got to Buffalo. Us both being in Buffalo, Buffalo is well known for their wings and different wings spots, and I get all of my different places of where I eat my wings from Dane. He always puts me on the best wing spots. It was the perfect connection with our love for the wings and our relationship that we have.”’

‘That will mark a new phase of the stadium construction work, one that will cause steel beams to soon rise above the surface of what now looks like a big hole in the ground on Abbott Road, across the street from the current facility.’

‘“It has been hammered home to me that football is a team sport,” he says. “The word ‘blame’ jumps out, and it shouldn’t be in the mix. My teammates supported me from the start. They knew it was the team that lost, not one individual player. You acknowledge that you could have done your part better, but as far as assessing blame, you simply cannot do it. People do it because it’s easy. They don’t understand it’s really much more complex than that.”’
