OL Pass Pro Schemes

Recommended Posts

I'm interested that it seems in many of the pictures and videos from camp that on the R side of the OL (I can't see the L when this happens) MW has been crashing down inside and CV has been assigned to the outside rush/blitzing LB.

I'm not aware that I have seen this extensively in previous seasons.

Can someone way if they think it is an experiment for camp, a point of emphasis, or a change of direction on our scheme this year?

From Mularkey...it sounds as if it is now possible. Before the OL lined up pretty tight so that the defensive ends couldn't cut between the guards and tackles. With Drew theydidn't have to have a disciplined rush. This year the OL are lining up wider and if the DEs try to cut inside, the coach says JP will just take it outside (which Drew wasn't able to do). So now in run situations if they line up wider, then the tackle can crash the interior of the defensive line...especially Mike Williams...and there is still enough room for the guard to make it out to head off the DE on running plays.

I think the offensive is going to look very different this year.
