Lets say for kicks and giggles.....the Bills put a target on Ryan Mallett and no other teams offer the Pats a trade for hm. Do you think BB would cut Mallett before he would accept an offer of a 7th round pick for Mallet from the Bills - to do whatever he could to keep him from going to someone else with in the division? I sort of think he would pass on a 7th rounder, maybe not a 6th, but maybe a 7th? Sure the Bills would still have a shot at him if he were cut, but it may be less likely that the acquire him.
