Jeff Owens (Georgia) as NT

Recommended Posts

Anybody know anything about this guy? He put up 225 44 times and is built like a keg of beer. When is he projected to get drafted?

6'1 304 he's a clone of Kyle Williams. Ranked 23 at DT by Scouts Inc. Don't see him has a fit on this defense if we are all ready to run Kyle Williams out of town.

Have you seen him play at all?

I have seen him play every game this year. He is a "try hard 'guy. Gives you everything on every play. He is alot like Kyle Williams and would not be a NT in a 3-4 scheme. If anything he would make an OK end. I personally like the guy, but he is not a stud. He also has been nicked up throughout his college career.

he was slotted anywhere from the 6-7th to the 3rd or 4th round, but his Senior Bowl performance lifted his stock. Sporting News actually thinks he might go late in the 1st round.

Jeff Owens, DT, Georgia

Owens did not have a dominant college season in his return from a season-ending knee injury in 2008. As a result, NFL people wondered if he would ever get back to being the player he was before the injury. Owens erased many of those concerns by shining at Mobile. He dominated at the point of attack with strength, hand use and the explosiveness to jolt blockers. But what grabbed the NFL's attention most was Owens' ability to beat one-on-one pass blocks with very quick pass-rush moves. Before the Senior Bowl, Owens was considered a likely third- or fourth-round pick. Now, he is viewed as a definite second-rounder, with a good chance to move into the first round.

Those numbers from the combine might help him even more.
