1. Jerry Gray has no creativity to change with the personel he has. He only knows blitz and if it dont work ? Oh well !

Jerry, MM , TC and TD can all kiss my ass and need to be fired now !

    484307

I remember when Wade and Ted got into a jam with their 3-4 defense. We had lost two of our starting linebackers. What did they do? They came out with a 4-3 defense that next week and won the game. Later when our linebackers got healthy again, that 4-3 defense would still creep into the play calling from time to time when the personnel fit the situation on the field better.

Now that was some great coaching - period.

  2. Well clearly, Sam is a decent run stuffer but I don't think we have anyone else.  The plan is simple with teams against our run defense.  Double team Sam Adams and leave others one on one.  It can be painful to watch at times.

    484293

Yeah, I am not ready to give up on Sam Adams. He still tries to bring it every game. Alone, he is just not enough. They double-team him and there is no push up the middle so even if we wrap up their running back, it isn't until he has made 5 or 6 or 40 yards. It is painful to watch. Neither Edwards or Anderson is the answer. Anderson has some potential, but he is probably 2 years away from hitting his stride as a defensive tackle which is probably saying that he could be simply average.

I am pretty much just fuming tonight. I am tired of watching our good players go because we say we can't afford to keep them, yet we sign high-priced veterans like Milloy and Vincent who have yet to justify thier saleries.

Baffling personnel moves and play calling has my mood in the toilet right now.

Sorry if I drag the rest of you down with me it is not intentional. I'm just pissed.

  3. And the Bills are just the chumps to make him look great ! They make everyone else look great !

    484310

Oh, I didn't mean to imply that we could actually win with a game called on the up and up. Just that it is even less likely than it was before, and that any Bills fan watching the game is going to have to listen to them suck up to Teddy all game long.

  4. That fits.

I'm tired of watching these guys. There is hockey out there, and at least they no how to win a few games.

Congrats Donahoe! You have managed to do what years of terrible Buffalo teams failed to do. I refuse to watch your product anymore.

I will follow the scores, I still have some fantasy football left to play, but I think I will start my personal hockey season early this year. I have more constructive things I could be doing with my Sunday afternoons other than watching this terribly average team go through another sub-500 season.

  5. As if the Bills needed to be a show case for his comeback.

This will be a game dominated by flags for any play our offense appears to make downfield.

Any end-around run will be called for holding. Pass plays that burn Teddy will be called back for phantom holds on interior linemen.

The game hasn't even started and I am pre-disgusted by it.

  6. I'm licking my chops in fantasy football next week because I own Corey Dillon. He should go for about 140 yds and 2 TDs. I mean hell, every other RB that's faced these jokers explodes for their career or season best game.

What is going on here? Why don't they put 8 in the box and take their chances with the CBs? They are going to give up tremendous yardage on the ground unless they at least attempt this. At least we wouldn't have to bear watching big run after big run, by every freaking RB they play.

I'm sorry, I've always been in TDs corner, but this is it for me. They have NO depth at all on either line, not to mention the starters are pigs. He simply cannot build a team that can put it all together. Every year, when we think we've got some problem fixed, another one rears its ugly head. It's like trying to plug leaks by putting your fingers in them, but you run out of fingers at 10, and the leaks keep on coming.

This team isn't going anywhere this year. Get JP some playing time NOW.

    484246

Yeah, I watched a 3rd and long play where Grey had 3 down linemen and basically went after Collings with a blitz that left the middle of the field wide open for 20 yards. The linebacker that would have been in Jordan's path ran around their right TE and was 7 yards deep into the Raiders backfield before he realized that Jordan had run the ball 14 yards to pick up the first down.

Grey is killing us with his blitzes - plain and simple. They are predictable, and they leave us defenseless against the run.

  7. I haven't felt this bad after a Bills game in a while. The Raiders are a baaad team, and they had nobodies prancing around in their secondary. What do we do? We call a bewilderingly bad game on both sides of the ball (coaching) and the players appear to give up with ten minutes left (desire, will). MM said they had called deep passes - does this mean that Kelly kept checking them off at the line? Well guess what? That's what defenses do - they move around to try to force you into audibles, which are typically easier to predict than the hundreds of plays on a coach's cheatsheet.

It's not Kelly's fault that our offense continues to stink. It's coaching. He'll do what you tell him. If you want him to run the plays as called, don't let him audible out of situations *that you have deemed critical for a deep shot*. Let Sam Wyche determine if a defensive front calls for an audible.

*Put your team in the best situation to be successful at all times.*

I'm not seeing that. What I'm seeing is a team that still has only beaten 2 playoff teams in 24 games (St. Louis and Seattle last year). Seattle remains our most impressive win...I consider the Rams one of the softest teams in the league. This should not impress anybody. I was concerned that the Jets game might give us false hope - the Jets have a lot of great players but their coaches are mediocre strategists.

I'm starting to think that we might have mediocre strategists, too. And nothing could be more deflating, because you can't overcome that. You can overcome player injury of any degree if you have the right coach. You can beat teams you're not supposed to beat if you have the right coach. I like Mike Mularkey, I really do. But I'm not convinced he's the right coach. I can't wear that "I BILLIEVE" shirt, but I might considering wearing a "I WANT TO BILLIEVE" shirt. He hasn't proven anything to me yet. And a considerable amount of time has passed.

    Group sigh: 1, 2, 3...SIGH....

    484138

    I'm with you there brother...

I see a team that is still being run on the cheap. There is no way that they should have let Pat Williams walk. I have heard the Donahoe-speak and Grey-speak about how the loss of Pat is not the reason for the issues with the run defense, but that just doesn't jive.

Last year with Pat - 7th in the league against the run.

This year without Pat - 30th in the league.

Simply put - TD was a boob for letting Pat walk. Something could have been worked out, something should have been worked out to keep the tandem of Pat and Sam together. It's not like we didn't see this same issue when we let big Ted Washington go. We thought that we could fill in on the cheap and our following season did nothing to make us forget about "the package". Pat got double teamed, and the other late round scrubs got ran over. Then we picked up Sam Adams and our defense got better in a hurry.

Jerry has got to understand that if we don't have the horses up front to stop the run and generate pressure, maybe we should look to a different scheme - oh, that's right... I almost forgot. Jerry is a one trick pony. He has been in one system throughout his career. Then he picked up some zone blitz pointers from Dick Lebeau, but until he can accept that his scheme is not fitting his players, and go and design a plan that works for the personnel we have, he will never be an NFL calibre coordinator. Without the big bodies up front this defense blows chunks, and Grey's answer is an unoriginal blitz, blitz, and blitz. Do we really scare anyone other than the worst teams with this scheme?

To add insult to injury, I live in Viking land and I got to watch that meathead coach of theirs in their locker room after their win against the Packers. He praised one guy on the team for (in his words) "being in the Packers backfield all day" guess who?

Pat Williams - he gave him the game ball.

The Vikes haven't been winning games, but no one out here is blaming Pat Williams. They love him.

When God, oh when will we ever see a coach again that can design a good game plan for both sides of the ball using the players that we have????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrg!!!

  8. you have all the right players.

The 4-6 (and all it's different looks) works well if you have two big hogs in the middle of the line that can occupy those middle gaps, and get penetration. Then your corners also need to be lock-down calibre because they are going to get assigned a lot of one on one coverage.

Our corners have not locked down anyone when they have needed to (big third down passing play after passing play appears to be a given with this unit). And safety help is nonexistant because they have to be up on the line trying to help stop the run - which they can't do because Grey has them constantly blitzing up field which leaves them out of position to make the plays they need to make against the run.

Losing Pat, combined with playing some better teams, has really brought out the warts on this pig.

What I wouldn't give to have Wade or Dick Lebeau back coaching this D. There is talent here, but they are constantly caught out of position, terribly coached, and we wont even get into adjustments - this group folds like a house of cards in the second half of every game.

Aaron Schobel said something a couple of weeks ago that I think shows signs that the players do not really believe in Jerry's defensive scheme. He said that the defense needs to be made simpler. Just straight up playing their gaps without so many fancy blitzes and schemes (I'm paraphrasing of course).

I hate to say it, but either they have to find another Pat Williams to take up two gaps in the middle, or they need to find another defensive coach who can work with the guys we have.

I watched the replays. I watched our middle linebacker blitz up the field, only to take himself out of the play, and leave a hole for Jordan to run 14 yards through.

    Enough said.

  9. Lets see...

Jonas Jennings is gone and replaces by Mike Gandy (Still not sure which is the lesser of two evils.)

Bennie Anderson is the starting left guard instead of Tucker, Pukecillo, and Lawrence Smith.

Mike Williams is hurt and Greg Jerman has been replacing him...

but other than that, no there have been no changes to the offensive line.

    462564

Add to those facts the fact that we are not playing the fearsome defenses of the 49ers, Arizona, and Seattle like we did last year...

The O-Line blows regardless of who we put under center. I wonder if Villarial and Williams feel guilty when they are picking up their checks. Villarial was supposed to be this road-grader from Chicago with a mean streak, instead we have an over-paid veteran getting out-played by a rookie. Then there is Williams - he's hurt, but he is also a 4th round draft pick that has yet to show why we went so high to take him.

Then there is Trey - a tackle that is does not have the strength to hold up at center.

Don't get me started on the left side of the line. Gandy has been a bit of a surprise, I thought that he would have gotten schooled earlier this year. He didn't have a good game this time out. He and Bennie seem to get lost on their blocking assignments whenever anyone throws a line stunt at them.

And for an offensive line that was conceived (we were told) to support a power-running offense, why can't we get a push from these guys when we need a few inches?

  10. Perhaps Sam was as pissed as I was watching the refs give the game away.

11 penalties for 79 yards for the Bills vs. 4 for 26 for the Aints

I know that everyone is supposed to feel sorry for New Orleans, but why do they always pick the Bills to take it up the ....

I can't remember a game with so much holding by the tightends and tackles without a call, but the Bills were flagged numerous times for hands to the face where they couldn't show one replay. Brooks was getting free because our defensive linemen and linebacker were getting wrapped up and dragged to the turf.

Then they had the audacity to call Moulds on a hold downfield when the replays showed nothing to negate a big play.

Sam was venting because those boobs were either paid or simply being homers for an unruly crowd - good for him.

Willis just needs to learn to get out of Sam's way when he's pissed. Heck, Sam got in Jerry Gray's face last year when Jerry kept pulling him on third down situations. And big Sam tore into anyone that went near him.

I am not totally unaware of our defensive shortcomings (ala Stallworth - how do you let one receiver continually get open on 3rd down ), but that was one of the worst called games I have seen in a while, and I can't help but think that the Bills have become the "Oakland" of the East - in regards to how our games are called by the NFL officials (just give it to them). Remember last week when they picked up the flag on that blatent pass interference, where Vick dumped it to no one while being sacked and there was no flag.

If we have to live with crummy officiating then at least let it be more balanced. I hope Sam gave that zebra hell.

  11. I agree with you on most of us and I don't think what I am saying is nonsense. It's a serious issue. The big problem I am having with JP is his thinking process and that isn't as easy to correct as you think. Look at Bledsoe. He did the same thing he did with the Bills the last couple of years; hold on to the ball way too long.  One possible solution would be a change in strategy on offense. Maybe we need a west coaast offense installed. At this point, I'm really worried that we are taking a big step back rather than moving on.

Now you can say that we can wait another year or 2 years whatever. It's been 6 six years since we made the playoffs. How long do you want us to wait? I take the BB approach. Start the best QB. If JP is the best QB so be it but at this point I don't think he is.

I like the approach of alternating him each week until he proves he can start in the National Football League/.

    454277

I've been waiting too. I am anxious for the glory days to return as well. It pains me, and I get acid reflux watching us stink it up at home. All that being said, you can't throw out the baby with the bath water.

We could have stuck with Bledsoe for another year, but does anyone here really think that he would have gotten us through a big game?

Sure we would have had some wins, and some exciting games, but to what end. Bledsoe could never get past New England, and was horrifying in big games. And, I have to say that our defense did not come out looking so good against the better competition last year either.

Mularky has a good system, but he has some pieces missing (offensive line and play making TE), and he has to work with a rookie QB who is going to make bad decisions.

Maybe JP doesn't pan out, but I cannot honestly say that I have seen enough games from him to tell if he is improving, or falling behind. He had some errant throws today. He had some throws that were on the mark, and the only thing that the Falcon players could do was mug Moulds to prevent the completion. The pass that was intercepted was on the mark, and it was the right receiver, but JP held onto the ball an instant too long. It should have been there as soon as the receiver broke his route. Those things I think are correctable with time and getting his timing down with his receivers.

You are entitled to your opinion. We all are. But for me the Jury is still out on the kid - JP, and I am actually more worried about our vaunted defense with all it veterans stinking up the field. Seriously, the first two possessions that Atlanta has and they score. Is that taking care of business in your own house?

I have no idea how long we Bills fans are going to be kept in a purgatory of having to watch our team lose. I just feel like all the pieces aren't there right now for me to believe that we can make a serious push this year.

I'll watch them any way. They're my team.

  12. we have a tight end on the team?  wouldn't know it seems like only one who JP is in synch with is Josh Reed

    454201

They tried what looked like one pseudo-screen. It was supposed to be designed like a wide receiver screen but utilizing Campbell. JP rolled out, but Campbell tripped on nothing and fell to the turf. That fall threw off the timing of the play and the defense was able to blow it up.

We need a real tight end... yeah, I'm like a broken record when it comes to having a solid TE for a young QB. Nothing works better at buiding up the confidence than being able to dump it off to someone that is able to get position on the linebacker or safety covering him and rumble to the marker.

  13. And you know this after three starts?

    OK.

    454158

You really have to try to avoid getting baited into these nonsense discussions. There are those that want to win now, and think we can do it with a rookie QB and porous defense.

I'm not ready to give up on a rookie after 3 games. Hell, I've BEEN ready to give up on Josh Reed for two years now, but he is actually becoming a decent receiver underneath. That one really stretched my patience, and I thought for sure that he would be exiting with all the other hopefuls that didn't pan out in training camp.

Our team needs to win now, no one wants to think that you have to suffer through a year of losing when our team has so many offensive weapons at its disposal, but that is what is going to happen.

We do not have Pittsburg's offensive line, or defense to develope a big Ben. JP is more often running for his life rather than comfortably picking out targets. When he does have time, he is rushing his throws or waiting too long to release the ball.

Everything I've seen looks like it is correctable. We have an offensive coordinator that used to be a quarterback coach, and a former head coach with years of experience as our QB coach. Sam has seen and developed some pretty good QB talent. If they believe JP has what it takes then I am willing to wait for the reward and suffer through the inevitable learning curve. Others, I am sure, are not.

Vick never looked like he could hit the broad side of a barn, but he looks like he is finally catching on in his 5th year. We give our rookie QB 3 whole games before some are trying to crucify him.

The sad fact is that there a several holes on this team right now, and Losman is actually only one of them. We need some play-making tight ends, and we need a real offensive line that does not act like a revolving door on critical downs. We need this defense to actually stop a running attack, and finish the job on third downs. We have a lot of needs and only the rest of the season to figure out how those needs get met.

I'm not optimistic. Then again, I was less optimistic last year when we started out 0-4 with Bledsoe at the helm.

  14. Shows you that the average Pats fan knows more about football than the average bills fan. Sad but true.

Some of the fools on TSW are a disgrace.

    453870

I agree that it takes time for most QBs to get their timing down, and for the game to slow down enough for them. I am pretty patient with JP, but that is mainly because I never bought into the hype of us having a winning season this year.

If the defense showed up I was hopeful for an 8 and 8 season. Tickets need to be sold, so I expected some sun shine to be blown our way.

A year from now the hot-heads, who always lose it over a loss and call for the firing of everybody, will once again slip into the murk to await their next episode of the falling sky routine.

That question during the interview does intrigue me. So far, I have seen nothing from Chris Villarrial that justifies the Bills signing him from Chicago. He is constantly hurt, and now he gets "winded" when the offense has spent so long on the sideline the last few games. I heard so much about this guy being a road grader with a mean streak, but all I have seen is a pickup with bad gas milleage and a penchant for breaking down.

It's going to be a long year, and MM going to have to learn that we are a fairly savy football town that understand the game enough to question his judgement. He will need to develope some tougher skin this year.

  15. me scratching my head. I did not think that losing Pat Williams would make that much of a difference in our run defense, but our players have looked small out there against the run. They were playing weak and Vincent had a horrible game, allowing several big 3rd down conversions, and getting called for the facial on Vick.

Officiating was pretty rough on us today, I thought that our offense really lost some momentum when they "picked up" the pass interference flag on that long 3rd down pass to Moulds - when Hall was mugging Eric down the sideline with his back to the pass the whole way. I didn't get that at all. I also thought that the Losman spot was lame - he slipped, but his knee didn't hit the ground till the ball got past the white stripe. They spotted it well short of the line. The forward pass fumble thing looked way to much like the tuck rule, but I guess that only goes your way if you are Brady and you are playing against the other league whipping boys - Oakland.

Sam is holding his own, but every other guy they put next to him is getting blown off the ball. I don't understand the blown assignments and missed tackles, and I am really getting ill watching every team we play convert all their 3rd and long plays - not only convert them, but getting huge yards while they are at it.

Losman is screwing up, not seeing his receivers, too hesitant at pulling the trigger, and in general he has been inaccurate when guys are open. All this I expected out of a guy starting his third NFL game. But we were told this season that the defense would win these games and let the kid grow. That isn't happening, I am curious after two weeks of being dominated by other teams where our defense actually ranks.

I don't think that Gray's defense works without a big run-stuffing tandem in the middle. We have a lot of speed, but the ability to be stout against the run is not there this year as it was last year, and I think that we probably benefited from a softer schedule last year, playing the weak teams of the NFC West.

It's going to be a long season, and now I've worked myself into another Tums night.

  16. Although JP's accuracy was pretty bad, I actually liked a great deal of what I saw in this kid.

There were so many plays where Bledsoe would have been planted in the field, but JP escaped, rolled out, and tried to make something out of nothing.

He has a pretty good awareness/pocket presence, but needs to develop better touch on his throws while on the run.

Several times TB came up with their safety high and backed them off at the last second. They brought a lot of different looks and with the crowd noise, and their offense's ground game eat'n up the clock they were well rested, and could pin their ears back and tee off on Losman. Through all that, JP did not cough up the football or make a big turnover.

Losman recognized that they were reading his eyes (see game comments). He will get better at looking defenses off.

Holcomb came in (a backup who knows a bit about pressure), and was not able to do a thing. This should give some folks pause regarding what another QB could do in that same situation.

Losman is our QB of the future, and you know what?

I have a feeling he is going to get a lot better.

Could you say that about Bledoe? No.

We got beat by a team that has a great running game, with a savy veteran at QB that can keep the chains moving. But we did not lose to an AFC opponent.

Reed actually started catching the ball and doing things we thought he was going to do 3 years ago - has he turned some corner? When Roscoe gets back in the game, JP may have some very scary targets to throw to underneath - that's another positive.

Eric Moulds reception streak remained intact...

The coach can use this game to get these guys to stop reading thier own press clippings about how great they were at home against the lowly Texans.

    We had very few penalties.

It is better for JP to face this kind of pressure earlier rather than later in the season. It's trial by fire, and he is going to come out of it a better play maker.

Lindel continues to actually make field goals.

    In closing:

I expect a dominating performance out of these guys next week.

Defense with a vengence, Willis straight ahead with power, Special Teams making plays, and Losman accurately slinging that ball around.

.... I wish that TE Everett we drafted out of Miami would not have gotten injured in camp. He looked like he had the skills early on in training camp. I cannot but think that Mularky planned on having an athletic TE for JP to dump off to this year. Oh well, sometimes plans have to change.

Slam away all you folks who think that the glass is empty, I am usually one of you.

I just can't help feeling like the glass is half full with this team.

    Go Bills!!

  17. The defense played hard, but they did not get TB off the field.

Sure our young QB went 3 and out a lot. That does not mean that our defense can't force the issue the other way, and get Tampa to go three and out.

Our defense got mauled and gashed by Tampa's offensive line, and the running of Williams. Tampa's Clayton made clutch third down grabs to keep their drives alive, so they could run it down our throats some more.

I'd love to put all the blame on our rookie QB, but that just isn't right. We knew going into the season that we would have to rely on our defense and special teams to keep us in the game, and the game I watched today looked way too much like our playoff game against the Steelers, where they mauled us at the line of scrimage, ran the ball, and controlled the game.

Williams is a special player, but we are supposed to have one of those on our side of the field as well. C'mon Willis live up to the hype!

  18. i had acid reflux for a few years.  and it got to the point where i couldn't take it anymore.

first thing i suggest if it is really bad is see your dr.

my dr. scheduled an upper gi for me.

then prescribed something called Protonix.  Works great and have had no problems in two years.

i will also add...when i went on the low carb diet last year....it took all my acid reflux away and i didn't need to take the medicine.

    274869

I didn't see your post, or I would have saved myself some typing. I just got through telling him about Protonix, and how it is helping me get back on my feet again. I am getting a better handle on the diet piece, but I do believe that the medicine is giving my body a chance to heal from years of just "dealing" with the acid.

You give me hope though, that I will be able to dump the pill requirements someday down the road.

  19. What the heck do I do about Acid reflux?  Its so dang bad that it wakes me up in the middle of the night with the worst taste in the world in my mouth.  I had it come up the other night and it was very stong, some went down the wrong tube and I though I was going to die!  What causes this?  I went online and read about the medicine, the side effects from the medicine sound like the same crap im having!

My diet is simple, I really dont eat spicy stuff.  I only drink Crystal Light Ice tea and water.  I never eat after 6:30pm.

What causes this and How do I stop it!  Does the medicine work well for it?  Gosh please respond!!!!!!

Simple: You probably have GERD - Acid Reflux Disease.

If you find acid coming up at night, and you also find yourself popping antacids like skittles - you most likely are a member of the club.

There are several factors that can lead to GERD. Diet, weight, and other factors can lead to the weakening of the esophageal sphincter a vital piece of our anatomy that is supposed to keep the acid where it belongs - in our stomach. Another possible cause for the malfuction of the esophageal sphincter is a hiatal hernia.

The best advice I can give you as someone who has gone through this, is that the best medicine out there is PROTONIX (pantoprazole sodium). I tried herbal suppliments, antacids, changes of diet (heck I got to the point where I didn't want to eat anything), and over the counter drugs like ranitidine - they all didn't work, or had equally bad side-effects.

I hate being dependant on any drug, but the Protonix helped me period. I also took my doctors advice (after finally going to a specialist) and slid a board under the top of my bed to raise that part up when I sleep. It has worked really well.

Good luck to you, and I hope my experience will help you avoid the long road I took to getting help that worked.

  20. It's not so bad. I'm cleaning my Bills shrine.

I just framed my signed Takeo picture. He's smiling at me right now.  <_<

I guess I could do something like that, I'm not all that upset at the Viking fans. They have a lot in common with the Bills when it comes to championship games. I still remember listening to all the worried conversations at work last season when they were scared that they might actually back into the big game. They knew that they would get pounded by whatever team the AFC fielded.

There was a collective sigh of relief from them when they got knocked out of the playoffs. Only a Bills fan would truely understand that mentality - joy and at the same time extreem anxiety at having your team go into the Superbowl with an 0 and 4 championship record. Neither they nor the Bills want to be the only owner of an 0 and 5 championship record.

  21. No hockey and sandwiched between two cubicles housing Viking fans giggling like school girls with every free agent grab they make.

"Oh, a low 1st round pick and a linebacker for Moss... who should we take in the first"

"We signed Buffalo's Pat Williams - then loud enough so I can't ignore them (did we thank the Bills for Winfield - he was our best player on defense last year"

"Oh man, they signed Smoot today..."

"Who should we take at safety Darius or ... blah..blah..blah"

I know we don't have as many needs, but all I get to talk about is how the Bills brought in a 7th round Guard and a Tight End I have never heard of. I console myself with the fact that outside of last seasons Dillon signing, New England was always very quiet in the offseason and still kicked everyone's butt. Maybe we are that close - I hope Losman is the real deal.

  22. lindell's miss was from 28, a chip shot at home

norwoods miss was from 47, certainly not a gimme.  and it was on grass, which norwood was not accustomed to, only 4 games that year were on grass (SB XXV, @MIA, @CLE, @WAS).  judging by our scores in the regular season games (7, 42, 14), he didn't do much kicking in those either.

if lindell was our kicker in SB XXV, we wouldn't have even attempted the FG

Norwood was an excellent kicker - agreed. He did one heck of a job and his stats defend that fact.

That game should never had come down to a 47 yarder to win. Some insightful comments in Marv's book echoed my feelings all along - the Giants were allowed to drive down the field to take the lead by converting a fourth and long when two Bills let themselves be dragged for six yards. The Giants were allowed by our defense to hold onto the ball for most of the game. If we did not have that infamous Walt Corey bend-don't-break defense, and actually had a stop you and force you to punt defense - the game wouldn't have been close.

  23. Considering that TD hasn't used much of our available cap space in signing Holcomb and Gandy, and that I do expect the trade for Shelton to still go through, I wouldn't be surprised to see us make an offer for Bubba Franks.  He's a restricted FA so we would have to make an offer that Green Bay wouldn't match.  We're really thin at TE and with a young QB he'll need a good TE to check off to.  I hope Bubba is that one.

I believe that Franks would be a good option. Especially if the rehab is not going along quickly. Losman is going to need a good tight end to help him get out of a jam now and then.

Strong running game, and a reliable TE and this kid will be alright.
