  1. Of course you realize that Brohm threw for 146 yards, no touchdowns, two interceptions and a grand total of three points in his only start. Other than that he was great.

Objectively speaking, the guy has done nothing in the NFL to give anyone a clue that he will be good. He threw no long passes, the longest was 15 yards including yards after catch. Just because Mel Kiper thought he might go first overall a year before he came out, people think this guy is going to be great. His production has been far less than Ryan or Trent. It's year three coming up and so far he's made the Packers practice Squad and the Bills 3rd string.

  2. ACL recovery time is 6 to 9 months for a reconstruction surgery. Bell had a arthroscopic repair (far less invasive than a reconstruction) done in late November. The Bills thought he would return but put him on IR December 11.

I haven't seen any reports of a second surgery, but a scope normally wouldn't have him out 6 to 9 months.

  3. They have said that they can't do it all in one year. So even in they aren't using the "R" word, they are rebuilding.

I agree with the point that they should try to get more picks if possible. The other side of that is that this team has zero star power, and no players that need to be gameplanned against. So if they can get an impact player at 9, maybe that's better than filling a extra hole.

  4. I know everyone here doesn't visit ProFootballWeekly.com, so I wanted to pass on that Nolan Nawrocki has posted his first draft value chart as well as his top 100 prospects for the upcoming draft

For those not familar with Nawrcoki, I'll just say the guy knows his sh*t. ProFootballWeekly.com has a lot of great draft coverage, keep an eye out for Nawrocki's final mock draft the morning of the draft, guy's money.

Glad to hear Nolan Nawrocki has fans. His last mock in 2009 was by far the most accurate.

He did one earlier this year. This is obviously pre-free agency and trades:

  6. I was playing around with last years QB stats and came up with an interesting statistic I like to call "Modified Completion Percentage". What I did is used the following formula (completions plus dropped passes) divided by (attempts minus spikes minus throw aways). The point was to determine how accurate a QB is. Obviously, this is only one dimension of playing QB, but with a couple of exceptions, this stat seems fairly indicative of how good a QB is. Does this give us hope with Trent? (don't know - he may be too much of a head case).

     Drew Brees 75.39%

     Aaron Rodgers 75.38%

     Matt Schaub 75.36%

     Brett Favre 75.05%

     Peyton Manning 73.94%

     Jason Campbell 73.91%

     Ben Roethlisberger 73.69%

     Philip Rivers 73.43%

     Tom Brady 73.10%

     Kurt Warner 71.97%

     Trent Edwards 71.68%

     Kyle Orton 70.52%

     Tony Romo 70.30%

     Eli Manning 69.86%

     Kerry Collins 69.65%

     Alex D. Smith 69.52%

     Carson Palmer 69.47%

     Joe Flacco 69.44%

     Chad Henne 69.02%

     Donovan McNabb 68.53%

     Matt Hasselbeck 68.51%

     Shaun Hill 68.03%

     Jay Cutler 67.29%

     David Garrard 67.14%

     Matt Ryan 67.07%

     Marc Bulger 65.83%

     Matt Cassel 65.69%

     Matt Moore 64.44%

     Vince Young 64.11%

     Kyle Boller 63.74%

     Daunte Culpepper 63.58%

     Matthew Stafford 63.43%

     Ryan Fitzpatrick 62.67%

     Mark Sanchez 62.61%

     Bruce Gradkowski 62.41%

     Jake Delhomme 62.30%

     Josh Freeman 62.06%

     Brady Quinn 61.75%

     JaMarcus Russell 60.58%

     Derek Anderson 56.57%

That was impressive. Thanks for the work.

  7. if there is no CBA, there is no foundation to support the draft because it is a restraint of trade which requires voluntary consent of both parties.

If the players are not a party to a CBA, then they will argue that their services can not be restrains by a unilateral draft and they should be free to negoitate with all teams

which is why the league will probably not have a lockout in 2011 but will unilaterally implement its own new set of rules and invite the players to participate without the union's consent. The union will be pretty useless without a membership

Interesting theory, but the first player to file that action will play in what league? There will be a draft in 2012 regardless of any lockout.

BTW, are college players today parties to the current CBA ?

  8. Maybe the lack of spending is due to the lack of quality in the FA field.

I agree with this point. Also, if the league and union work out a deal by 3/2011 the following things will happen:

    1. The RFA's from this year will be added to the 2011 UFA list and make for a much deeper talent pool

    2. There will be a salary cap again

    3. Teams that have overspent in 2010 will be wishing they had the cap room to sign someone from that deep free agency pool next year.

  9. Al Davis is all about speedy wide outs... so why not start a QB with a cannon arm not named JaMarcus Russel?

"It will take a couple of weeks to at least learn," Fassel said. "I think he will do well there, though. I know [Raiders owner] Al Davis has always liked him (JP)."

JaMarcus Russel could be penciled in as the backup

    http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/features/ru...atures%2frumors

J.P. Losman addition may signal the end for Russell

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/309525-...end-for-russell

    :P

SO here is the ESPN article. It says nothing about JP:

    "Adam Schefter

Bruce penciled in at No. 1

"Look for Bruce Gradkowski to be the man going into next season. The team respects him, and it responded to him when he played. When Gradkowski was on the field, there was a certain confidence the Raiders had that they lacked when JaMarcus Russell was playing quarterback. My guess is that Gradkowski starts, Russell backs up, and they draft another quarterback to begin grooming for the future."

As for the Bleacher Report, anyone can write an article for them and just submit it.

  10. Stallworth is also a former 1st round pick

We could use someone to drive Marshawn around.

BTW, do you know the following about Stallworth:

    2006 traded to the Eagles

2007 entered the league substance abuse program

    2007 cut

2007 signed to a 6 year deal by the Patriots

    2008 cut

2008 signed by the ever respected Cleveland Browns

    2009 DUI manslaughter

    suspended for the full season

2010 About to be released from Browns

Doesn't exactly sound like the kind of character Coach Gailey was talking about... but hey we have heard his name... lets sign him.

  11. Levy would not have started Byrd, because he never started rookies.

I think this is absolutely true, but Levy's defenses were not that good. The Bills secondary today is much stronger than in the 90s. In fact, we went to one Superbowl with the 28th ranked defense (i think is was Dallas part I in Pasadena.) Kelso was horrible. We had the best defensive player in the league, but without Bruce, that defense just wasn't that good. You'll certainly never hear one of their names listed as HOFame possibilities.

  12. He's Ko Simpson and he's worth...a 7th rounder...

Hmmmmm...any idea if the compensatory picks change because of the CBA? I wonder if we're in line for any more picks this year.

Not likely much. It's based upon the difference between what you lose and what you gain in Free Agency.

Last year we lost: Royal, Whittle, Greer, Crowell, Losman, Fowler, and Greer.

    QB Ryan Fitzpatrick

    WR Terrell Owens

    OG Richie Incognito

    C Geoff Hangartner

    LB Chris Draft

    CB Drayton Florence
