So obviously after watching this game Tyrod and Peterman are not the answer at QB if we want to become an elite team. What is the answer at QB for us???? Trade up and draft either Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen or Josh Allen? Or go after a guy like Alex smith or Cousins???? Or maybe a combination of the two?????

We we really need to finally fix the QB position to be take seriously.

Break the bank... sign Cousins. He's in his prime and will solidify the position for 4-5 years. Keep drafting QB's.

  2. Again- I just don't see ANY SINGLE REASON teams let go of even average until they know they have better.

It's just unfathomable in this day and age, as hard as it is to even get mediocre out of that position until you luck into 'the guy'

Agreed... and this is why Tyrod and his shortcomings should be back next year.

  3. I must be missing something on Kirk Cousins. I'm a big fan, I think he's a very good QB and I can't understand why the Skins haven't signed him yet. I'm starting to think he might hit the open market from what I've read. Does anyone think there's a real chance he hits the market and we sign him? I think Kirk could lead us to the playoffs.

If available, I'd sign him in a minute, but he won't hit the market. The only reason he's not locked in with the Skins is because he wants more guaranteed money than they're offering and he's willing to take the risk of going year to year.

My #Bills Wake-Up Call: Don't expect a thorough 'search' for new HC. NEW at [bN] Blitz: https://t.co/8FEAhEu2mK

Don't get the point Vic is trying to make here. The structure he's criticizing is pretty much every team in the AFC North and many other notable franchises including the Packers. Let Whaley pick his coach and run football operations. If it doesn't work out then he moves on...

  5. 1. Give me a coach that is a great communicator. No more duds who can't be bothered informing media about player injuries because THEY messed up in the past and are insecure.

    2. Develop an offense around the players that you have. Scheme doesn't matter as much as flexibility.

    3. Work with your GM. Folks are bagging on Whaley, but I'm more than willing to defer to a guy that has seen how a winning franchise operates in the front office and on the field.

  6. That was interesting, thanks. I think John Harbaugh is one of the best two or three coaches in the game, but he seems to fly under the radar. The Ravens are always in it - they have a solid QB but not a HOFer. They come to play against the best teams. Between Harbaugh and Ozzie, the Ravens are always gonna be competitive.

I hope the Pegulas can land a coach like that and I hope Whaley turns into that kind of consistent GM (or that that they find someone else who can do it).

Also, that was very gracious of Belichick to support Harbaugh in that way.

Agreed. Living in the DC area, I get to see the difference between the way the Ravens do business vs. Dan Snyder and it's night and day. Terry and Kim should def. be involved in this search. It was interesting to hear how Harbough is not a know-it-all and still seeks others opinion and they work as a team. Owner, Team Pres., GM, Asst GM, and Coach work as a team! Marrone did not sound like that kind of team player.

  7.

He manages it well enough to have a winning record. I love this ... here is a winning coach(a better winning percentage than Gruden BTW) and people hate the idea.

    Amazing.

I just want someone who will manage the team. I would like a coach that knows what he wants to do on both sides of the ball and I'm not sure I've seen or read about that in regards to Lovie...

  8. Peter King just said at halftime of the Army All American Bowl that Lovie is the Bills' top choice. If he brings Marinelli and Nix/Whaley hire a competent OC, this is probably the best/safest choice. While Kelly is intriguing, he's a complete unknown.

Sigh... If they are using analytics to rate coaches, I wonder how they feel about Lovie's poor clock management and 17% challenge success rate. The last thing we need is another coach who can manage the clock and make sound decisions.

  9. Are you for real? What if he said that everyone who works where you work are lazy a-holes, and you say something does that mean you aren't commited to your job? Doesn't even make any sense at all.

I'm dead serious... I can spend my life worrying about what people think about my co-workers or I can do my job effectively and let them keep sucking air. If Trent doesn't understand that better play and leadership will shut up his critics then he won't make it in this league. Plain and simple.

  10. he gets bothered when people take shots at his home state? That's a bit odd, IMO.

My sentiments exactly. What a bore... Jim said what was on his mind (jokingly) and Trent's "offended"? When our QB is worried about Bills legends comments about the quality of QB produced from a certain state, he is not focused enough on improving his game, IMO. Some of these players are the biggest bunch of whiners... Trent & Co. need to be talking about how they are going to be better in 2010.

  11. Can somebody explain why Grimm is being considered as a head coach as only an O-line position coach? Why has he never been promoted to O Coordinator? Since he's never run an offense or defense, how does anybody know if he'd be a good coach?

It's sounds crazy, but I'm not really sure that's a requirement for this guy. Harbaugh is doing it in Baltimore and Levy did it here. Here are my favorite Grimm stories.

    http://www.azcentral.com/sports/cardinals/...ards-grimm.html

"Grimm is old school and demanding but has created a close-knit group that has adopted the coach's philosophy. They have been schooled to understand their position is not for those seeking fame and glory, but for stoic men content with anonymity and a job well done."

    http://www.examiner.com/x-450-Washington-R...kins-head-coach

"...I remember going to training camp up in Carlisle in 1992, Grimm's first year as an assistant to Gibbs. Just prior to practice players were milling around the end zone catting and joking around. Out of nowhere a huge Ford Bronco--not the little one the big curb stomping mini-monster truck-- drives up right into the middle of end zone. Players scatter and stare. Grimm steps out of the driver's seat, pulls a wad of chewing tobacco from his mouth, chucks it to the ground and says "let's hit it." The players jumped to attention and got to practicing. "

  12. While Ozzie was on staff in Baltimore previously, he wasn't named GM of Baltimore until 2002. Marchibroda was gone in 1998.

I saw Billick, "the offensive guru's"work with Baltimore's offense over a 9 year span. I was unimpressed to say the least.

I'm not sure the point here... The Raven's won the SB in 2000. Either Billick gets the credit as coach, since Ozzie wasn't making the decisions all by himself or you give them both credit. You can't call that squad Ozzie's team if you don't think he was drafting them.

Being in MD, the Raven's are my other team and while Billick never pulled it together on offense, he was still a damn good coach. In addition Billick's got a nice little coaching tree that's blooming: Del Rio, Lewis, Rex Ryan, Mike Smith, and Singletary... I'm just sayin'

  13. Billick, without question is confident. Some will view this as arrogance, but the Ravens didn't get their swagger from Ray Lewis alone. If Billick can be that successful in his first try at being a head coach while not developing a dynamic offense then I would be very interested in watching what he does on his second go round.

My only real concern with Billick is the lack of discipline his teams had at times. Veterans without question got special privileges in Baltimore and he is not a Parcells type disciplinarian, BUT that doesn't have to be the case (right Marv?).

Simply put I'd like to see the Bills hire someone who won't get outcoached on Sunday's like Jauron and Mularkey did on a regular basis. He can hold his own against Belichick and he is better than Ryan and Sparano. He is comfortable with his D coordinators running the 4-3 or 3-4. He's not a Tampa 2 guy and likes his teams to attack on defense and to be able to run the ball. Sounds perfect to me...

  14. Kelly said it best when he said we have a fresh opportunity with the start of a new decade. I say we trash the last ten years by burning these uniforms and expelling the last few remnants (Guy and Modrak) of the Donahue era! If I'm asking too much then just dump the road uni's PLEASE!

  15. Both have been rumored in a 3 team trade. I don't know if it they would be 2 of the 3 teams in this trade but it would make sense if they were. San Fran could stand to have a big WR and they did just draft TE Vernon Davis. Buffalo could figure to use a big time pass catching TE. This is why I'm wondering if the Bills could be in this mix. I'm trying to figure out what Denver could stand to use. Could secondary help be a need for them? If so, maybe FS Troy Vincent is expendable. Of course this would be based on the emergence of our newly acquired #1 draft pick Donte Whitner. I wouldn't be shocked if something of this nature were to unfold. Any thoughts or input would be appreciated.

If the Rams offense is any indication of what we can expect, I'm going to go out on a limb and say we don't need a pass catching TE.
