if Tyrod ends up being good then who gets the credit? I've heard it was Rex's guy but Whaley went out and got him to sign and Roman and Lee coached him up
Whaley would never have signed Tyrod if not for Rex.

You got at least one right. I'm impressed with your great psychic powers. I felt a D or F was too negative, and A or B too positive. Jury is still out on Whaley.

I'd like to propose a boycott of this thread.

Sorry Bryce has a faster 40 time. Get it straight.
People must love you. Such a nice gentleman. I hate to point out your error - it's never pleasant proving wrong such a kind person - however I don't want you to keep making unfortunate boo-boos.
Karlos timed faster than Bryce.

Patriots. They're in for a crash back down to earth this year.

EJ should be happy to stay. Where else could he go for this kind of money with an unproven situation at QB? Taylor deserves to start, but if it doesn't go well EJ is positioned for a shot at #1 by the end of the season or beginning of next. Meh is obviously an emergency QB not in the longterm plans of the franchise.
Obviously, 3rd isn't a dream spot for a former #1 pick. However, if you look deeper it ain't that bad place to be, either.
-
Karlos is a rookie who is relatively new to the position. He's almost the same size as Boobie and Bryce, and the fastest of the bunch. The Bills should have cut Brown, promoted Karlos to Boobie's spot at RB & ST, kept Fred as RB, and made Boobie the deactivated RB.
-
Please don't include me in "B'lo fans" who were upset there would be no place to go (i was not worried about that in the least). My uproar is that we cut out second best RB and best pass blocker who was making a meager salary (by NFL standards) in the year that we've been told we're going for it .
All this talk of cutting cap space for next year and getting young guys playing time makes it sound like we're not.
Seems playing for next year is a hard habit to break.
Truth.

If he (Cassel) does go in though they have to change a lot more for him than EJ because he is not mobile at all !!
I think EJ has every right to be totally pissed because unless as you say Cassel said he would come back only if he was made #2 then this is a total slap in the face to EJ .
Especially after he out played Cassel in the preseason & deserved the back up position !!
And his age & upside is much better than Cassel's !!
To be fair, Cassel barely played in the preseason, and by all accounts outplayed EJ during practice and training camp. In the two games he did suit up and see very limited action in he was 13 of 15 for 83 yards, no TDs/no Ints. Certainly a respectable showing, especially considering he played against the 1st string D both games.
Not saying Meh is anything more than Meh, but he did earn the right to make the roster. Being a veteran of 13 years, it makes sense to have him holding the clipboard and mentoring. Let EJ learn at #3, without pressure, and see how things play out.
-
Does this portend an EJ trade as imminent? 3 Qbs dressing and Tanney on PS. Hmmm
Latest rumor is EJ to Seattle for Fred Jackson in a straight up deal.
-
Guess it's time to take Cassel off the list.
-
He'll be back... on the PS in no time.
Yup
-
Brace yourselves, people: Props to Whaley for handling the Cassel situation perfectly. Meh had too much to contribute as a veteran backup for us to just throw him away. Happy he was brought back at a proper salary for a backup. Well played.

I have to admit after decades of futility I have little confidence in Bills management to not screw things up.
I am pretty sure that Pete Carroll is a good circa 2015 coach. I hope the Bills didn't blunder this move.
If the goal is getting rid of the player sitting above your guy on the depth chart to justify a bad trade than it's already a success. Bravo, Mr. Whaley.

Fred. Won't miss any of the others.

I thought we had Super Bowl aspirations.
You're right. I should have said expectations, not aspirations. Every team has aspirations. Edited the change.
-
Sucks to see him in another uniform. He should be on this team. Stupid move by Whaley that will become more apparent when he's kicking ass in Seattle. As long as he stays healthy, I think this is a great move for him though. I don't think he would have gotten a fair shake with the Bills this year.
Not so sure about that. Rex has made no secret of his doubts about Bryce Brown. Karlos and Boobs have been injured nearly the entire preseason. McCoy may be limited on the hammy to start the year. With Freddy's complete game and veteran leadership there's no doubt in my mind he would have seen the rock plenty if Rex were allowed to keep him. It is what it is.

Interesting...NE did want to sign him after all
No surprise. Let's face it, any team with Super Bowl expectations would jump at the chance to have Freddy on their team. I love how Pete Carroll traded away one of their younger, faster running backs, ripped #22 away from a young corner, listed all the attributes of why Freddy is so valuable, and then gushed over how he's going to get A LOT of action. Excited to see how the story plays out for Freddy out there. Wouldn't surprise me at all to see him as one of the features on next season's NFL Films Super Bowl Champions production.

Hate the blue on blue. Hate all monochrome dark combinations, actually. White on white is solid for road, but always want yo see the blue over white at home.
-
Fred says getting cut by Whaley was the best thing to happen to him. I tend to agree. He needed to go to a winning team with a top defense, elite #1 RB and a young, mobile QB. Perfect fit, and he could very well provide the necessary intangibles to get Seattle back to the Super Bowl again.
-
12-4 and a division title, baby.
-
Cassel had value as an experienced QB who knew life in the NFL from both the role of starter and backup. That knowledge would have helped TT and EJ in their respective roles. Plus, as an emergency QB he would be better than most.
This was a move to give EJ the undisputed backup opportunity by someone in management (whom I won't name) who didn't want to take any chances Rex may choose Meh over EJ as the #2.
-
Aside from this forum, where as a reflex defense of all things Whaley Fred is written off as an ancient relic (and by some a locker room cancer), it's a given that Fred still has a lot of tread left on his tire and brings character and leadership that can carry a top team to the Super Bowl level.
Seattle was smart, they saw the qualities Bills fans, players and coaches have cherished, and gobbled him up right away. I have no doubt our team will be negatively impactected by this small minded decision.
Good for Seattle recognizing the big picture, and making the right move to achieve their ultimate goal.

Sullivan's 'Risky Business' column on Whaley this morning was spot on. I would imagine most Bills fans (not on TBD) share his sentiments.
Matt Cassel re-signed, will be #2 QB
