I actually like Wood at OG better than C. Wood is a bit "upright" and doesn't have the most fluid snapping motion. Moving him an inch back and relieving him of snapping duties fit better with his skill set.
Meredith was a great OLT for the Chickens as a Soph. Since then, he has fallen apart with various injuries and accusations. The other 31 didn't pass on him as a PS guy for nothing, not to mention the OL starved Pack parting with him for nothing. Something is UP with that individual, we just don't see it. Perhaps it can be fixed. Perhaps not. Jamon is really an OLT prospect, more athleticism than power.
Whether Levitre's knee bend can be improved is something I'd like to see, but given history, I'd consider extremely unlikely. Knee bend just is or isn't, it isn't something "taught."

In 2005, the CrimiNoles stole the early lead as Jerome Carter got the lowest score for a strong safety. The CrimiNoles struck again at DE with Eric Moore's 9. The Gators then just CHOMPED into the action at OT with Jon Colon's 12.

No. Its out of 50 and its timed, with each question getting harder as you go on. The Qs are similiar to an SAT quetion - both English, Math, and problem solving Qs. Having just gotten out of college, I have had to take the wonderlic a couple times for companies on interviews.
If you can operate a crayon safely you can get at least a 10 on that test. If you have never taken it you have no idea how dumb one would have to be to get in the single digits. I mean really, four? That literally means he cannot add, subtract, or read. The first few questions are that easy.
Example:
If you have four red balls, how many balls do you have?
A) purple
B) fore
C) 4
D) red
That would be the 15th easiest quetion on the test, mean there would be 14 easier than that one.
Several last year got "12 out of 50" as if they answered a few easy ones and then marked "A" "A" "A" for every other answer.

Cant agree with that LaDairis.....Levitre was playing LT for us for a bit and probably outperformed everyone with had at the position this past year despite his short arm length.

No, power as an OL comes from frame, musculature, athleticism and technique/knee bend. An OL at 300 with years of experience isn't going to add power. He either has it or he doesn't. Levitre doesn't have good knee bend, plays high, and is hardly a better than average OL athlete in the NFL. He was, rather, a desperate attempt by the Bills last year to bend over backwards and forwards to justify the "best available OG prospect" with the second in accordance with the "gurus" who originally had Duke and Herman at the top of their OG boards last year. The short arm issue is a real issue as it was for Geisinger, who was also a college OLT switched to interior (recent track record of that switch is marginal). Geisinger eventually settled in at center with the Skins, where short arms matter the least. Levitre isn't athletic enough for NFL OT and isn't powerful as an OG. Just being the last or second to last Bill OL to fail last year wasn't exactly a claim to fame...
I understand the frustration of coming to grips that the FO's second from 2009 isn't going to cut it. Bummer...
Better to fix that now than destroy whatever QBs you acquire for the next few years of denial about it. Wood's injury is also very unfortunate, and whether Wood is ready to play this year, and whether he should play, is yet another issue.
An OLT and band-aids ain't gonna fix it.

Levitre was not a 1st. He was a marginal OLT for Oregon State who was completely mauled by Greg Romeus in his final game for the Beavers. How the Bills justified a second for him is the real question.
As for Saffold, he was a 3+ year starter in the Big 10, hardly a "project." Saffold dominated Michigan's Graham and Iowa's Clayborn. Charles Brown was a 2 year starter for USC. Sean Allen was a 2+ year starter for East Carolina, and absolutely dominated and graded out perfectly against Arkansas in the Liberty Bowl. Sean Allen is a tremendous athlete with power, with credentials for character and football intelligence. Allen was one of two First Day caliber OLs on EC last year, the other being junior OLT Willie Smith. Brian Simmons is a 1+ year starter for OU, but was regularly rotated in with Duke and Walker in 08 and before, including the NC in 2009 when he replaced Duke in the third series (a TD) and then Walker the next series (which UF stuffed a 4th down from the 1). Following Walker at the time, I though Simmons was some PS1 super Fresh getting reps because he was "just too good" and clearly better than either Duke or Walker. He had some injury issue this year, but was absolutely dominant over a pretty good Stanford DL in his bowl game. Brian Simmons is really the only pure OG prospect in this Draft who can do everything well - run block with power, second level blocks, pass protection, anchoring against the bull rush, having the athleticism to shut off gap shoots and blitzes. Every other OG prospect in this Draft, save the position switches, has a rather obvious flaw in his game, starting with Iupati's pass protection set.
So, no, Saffold, Brown, Allen, and Simmons are hardly "projects." Rather they dominated all year against NFL caliber talent, do not require positional switches (other than moving Saffold to ORT from OLT), and it is shocking but not unprecedented that the NFL has completely whiffed on two of them...

The Wonderlic test is a 50 question multiple choice test given to every attendee at the Combine. Hence, if you could teach a parrot to say "A" 50 times, the parrot would theoretically score a 10 (random guessing = 1 out of 5). Tracy Porter, NO's best corner, scored a 4. That's about the most recent "low" on record. Last year, Tenn DT DeMonte Bolden got a 5.
The rules for the DUMBEST TEAM comp are that the team that scores the most positional lows on the Wonderlic at the Combine gets the title. For years, that was always either the Cokes, Gators, or CrimiNoles, but times have changed, as the Cokes and CrimiNoles just aren't putting enough dummies at the combine to contend. Them Gators, however, are loaded this year.
Last year, in a shocker, LSU and Nevada tied with 2 each, Nevada actually having only two at the combine, a stunning 2 for 2 in dumbest player by position. LSU was one point away at OG, as Herman Johnson, the biggest OG at the combine, was one point shy from being also THE DUMBEST OG. Ray Feinga permanently stained BYU with a 12, edging Herman's 13.

Ok, Hangartner I can possibly understand, but calling Levitre a backup quality player after his 1st freaking season is a joke. Seriously, I am sure Kelly, Bruce, and Thomas would have been called "backup quality players" after their first season under your criteria. Give the kid a freakin chance to develop.
Andy lacks the athleticism and power to be anything special. Hope all you want, it ain't there.

ladarious.....I am not going to knock your post as you obviously do your homework (and I like the USC tackle as well...my son is a big USC fan and so I see a lot of those games)
The problem is we have a lot of other areas that are going to need attention........
- We just got the announcement of the 3-4. We are going to need a true NT, and even if we can make it work with Stroud and Williams at DE with Spencer Johnson in reserve we are going to need bigger LB's in a reserve role.
- I am not ready to distress over our wideouts with TO gone as much as other people BUT we are going to need a replacement for Josh Reed.
The equation becomes a lot more promising if the Bills are able to trade down from 9, which seems unlikely.
This Draft is stocked at DT, including NT. The best one for NT in this Draft is UCF's Torrell Troup, who isn't just a blob of goo like Cody, or a one dimensional run stuffer like Dan Williams. Troup is a great athlete for his size, complete with first rate quickness off the snap and the power to anchor against a double team (he did that several times in the Shrine, not to mention every game at UCF the past two years) and drive just about any interior OL back if single teamed. He has been "rising" up board and now is questionable to be there at the Bills' third round pick.
An undrafted with some "issues" but true 2nd round NFL NT talent is Miss St. NT Kyle Love.
As for the LBs, well, there is no doubt that some depth is desirable considering the plan. I don't know that such depth requires high picks though.
WRs - lots of talent on the top of the board, then a cliff.
As for the OL, well, let's just say that I am not a fan of it. Whether Bell or Meredith can develop into a reliable starter is questionable. Meredith, in particular, was clearly "radioactive" for some reason last year. Talented = yes. How someone with his talent could last to round 5, get cut, and stay on a PS for weeks is clearly something we don't see but the rest of the NFL does. Nobody trusts Jamon Meredith, and neither did Spurrier. Bell is an athletic project who may lack the power to stick. Butler is a backup caliber player. Levitre and Hangartner are also backup caliber players. Wood, before the leg, was the closest thing on the roster to a legit NFL OL starting caliber player. The injuries are also a symptom of the poor level of the OL. Good OL units tend to stay healthy because everyone does their job and nobody gets through to roll up the OL with his back turned. Bad OLs have more injuries because too many defenders get loose and do end up rolling up and worse.
So, yeah, you have other needs, but, in all seriousness, if you don't fix that OL, if the new regime remains in denial and simply doesn't allocate assets for talent there, it just won't matter that much who the QB or the WRs are. I think it is safe to say that Lynch and Evans are world class players. Put a real OL in front of them, and the QB position becomes much easier, easy enough for a future young player to take over and not be permanently damaged because of it (like Dave Carr...)
Can the Bills trade down from 9?
If yes, then all those issues can be addressed.
If no, then trouble. There is a gap from 2 to 3 (post McCoy and SUH) that really extends well into Round 2. In other words, the player at 3 isn't going to be that much of a "better prospect" than the player at 50. That will make it much more difficult for a team to justify trading up.

In a 3/4 D the NT doesn't usually make a lot of tackles as he is double or triple teamed by the OL. Look at the LB tackles to see how effective he is, as it is their job to flow to the point of attack.

We had the right idea but in typical Bills fashion the wrong execution. Any retard with at least a brain stem knew the pick should have been Orakpo. Rookie DE/LB double digit sacks his first year. Not good enough for you? Don't fault that strategy for the Bills idiotic blunder in choosing the WRONG DE. But, then again, smart people already know that and don't have to told so.
Orakpo's sack total was inflated by several things. Attempting to explain that to you would be a worthless waste of time, like teaching calculus to a rabbit. Orakpo isn't a bad player, but he is a one-trick speed rush pony, and better OLTs shut him down completely. He got sacks on stiffs and plays where he went unblocked. No Lawrence Taylor is he. OOps. No Cornelius Bennett is he... Better?
If you had watched the Trojans destroy Penn State, you would have noticed that the Trojans, many times, put TE Anthony McCoy on Maybin. That's right. Your omniscient Bill FO spent a high first on a DE whose head coach called him "immature" and disciplined him before his last bowl game, a bowl game which observed Aaron Maybin get shut down every play... except one... when Maybin was offsides... and shut down mostly by the USC TIGHT END!!!

Iupati looked terrible in the Senior Bowl. His technique is awful.
It is all about his pass protection set. He is too high and stiff and awkward in his pass protection set, and cannot transfer his power from the set.
He is "structurally flawed" to play OL, as many giants before him proved in the NFL.
As a run blocker, the kid is as good as it gets. Problem: NFL OLs cannot JUST RUN BLOCK... they have to be able to pass block too.
