  1. YES! McGee could turn into a 2nd round pick or possibly a low 1st - BJ Raji, pick 1, Michael Johnson, pick 2, Eric Wood pick 3. If they could just find a TE, they'd be fine.

Absolutely no one is going to offer a 1st for McGee under any circumstance, and it would be more than a slight understatement if you called a 2nd unlikely.

  2. Correct me if I'm wrong, but by my count the Bill's played eight games against opponents who use the 3-4 as their base defense. In those eight games (against SD, Cleveland, Miami, NYJ and NE) they had an unenviable 1-7 record. I think it's naive to discount that we were 6-2 against all of our other opponents.

Now it's not unheard of for something like this to happen. In fact, the Peyton Manning-led Colts have a bit of a history of struggling against the 3-4.

So I'm wondering...is this something that can be corrected with time? Does it have anything to do with the fact that we have a relatively young team with a young QB who needs to learn how to read and react to the myriad of different looks the 3-4 offers? Or is this the result of a flaw in our offensive philosophy?

Our offense is essentially a modified version of the Vermeil/Martz offense with more emphasis on the run, and that team ultimately fell to the Patriots' 3-4 in Super Bowl XXXVI. I'm not sure of that offense's overall record against 3-4 defenses, though.

Or maybe is it the type of players we're employing in our current offense? Should we go for the quicker, more nimble zone blocking type of lineman to combat mobile linebackers featured in a 3-4 defense? Do we need a more seasoned "true" fullback to keep linebackers from shooting the gap on running plays?

So without getting into the truly enthralling discussions about how Ralph Wilson eats babies and Dick Jauron has the personality of a baked potato, what do you think our team can do to get better against the 3-4, a.k.a. our Achilles heal?

  3. Assuming that taking away draft picks for player conduct was a real possibility, how long do you think it would be until some @$$hole cop took it upon himself to make sure visiting players got in trouble while they were in his town?

And I'm not saying this meaning all or any significant portion of the police force are corrupt. Just saying it only takes one bad apple.

  4. This Raiders troll stuff is too great to be real. It's going to get me all excited thinking of the possibility of their being a Rams troll next week, but that's just too much to believe.

Mr. Raiders troll, please, please do tell us how great the Raiders are. You're making me exponentially more nervous with every word.

  5. Why do people keep thinking there will be 259 games to win? I thought each team played 16 regular season games?

That's the problem that people seem to have with predicting records. A win-loss record isn't just magically bestowed because of how much talent a team has. There are 256 regular season games a year, and in every single game one team wins and one team loses.

If the NFL only had two teams and I thought they were both really, really good, I couldn't logically predict that both teams would go 12-4.

  6. No. Why do you ask? Those guys seem to get lost in the mix with all the bigger name FA signings and shiny new rookie class. Thus the element of surprise. I think at least one of them might come through for us this year.

    Will Allen plays for Miami.

  7. I'll go with Will Allen, and either Teyo Johnson or Courtney Anderson. Allen has some skills IF healthy, and one of these TE's just might surprise (god willing) in Turk's offense.

Are you a Dolphins fan in disguise or something?

  8. basketball i would say is back on the rise a little - the product is a lot better now than it was 5, 6 years ago - its too bad all the good teams are in the west

It's more than just a little. From an international perspective, it's probably the number one on the rise sport right now. It's growing to even rival soccer in it's wide-spread appeal.

A lot of people blame the recent Olympic failures on pro-athletes taking it for granted that the gold medal would be bestowed upon them (which is partially true) or the difference in international rules and our reluctance to adapt (also, part true), but the skill of the basketball players around the world has gone through the roof because so many people follow it now.

  9. What the f#$k is OBD dong with the fullback position? No name free agent, no name draft pick. Do they really think the soldier fullback is the answer? I don't think the answer is currently on the roster.

I disagree. If we got a couple guys whose parents didn't even bother to name them...well, then it seems to me they might have the right background to be a fullback in the NFL.

Hell, I'd have to assume anybody in that situation would be bat-sh-- crazy, and I certainly wouldn't want to ram into him at full speed.
