  1. At the beginning of the season a number of posters here including myself were tremendously critical of the team with explanations as to exactly why.

Well, the usual happened, we don't know what we're talking about against the experts and are clueless, not real fans, and a list of other goodies.

Well, here we are. This is the part of the season where those come that didn't have high standards, and in spite of our team sucking the dirt off the men's room floor and that warned about getting our hopes up and instead putting some pressure on the idiots that make these stupid decisions at OBD, can come and be extremely amused at the quasi suicidal atmosphere here by the same people that were manning the firing squad earlier on.

Naturally no one wanted to hear sound discussion of football back then as most of you preferred to go running down the halls with cotton in your ears and blinders on screaming Super Bowl championship.

Then you'll tell everyone how you are finished with this team before bending over again next season for more of the losers that run this organization's decisions.

You honestly cannot buy amusement like this.

Most of you deserve this team for your continued support of losers in the organization from top to bottom.

  2. Ordered a beer and a cheeseburger and settled in to watch the Bills at my local backers bar. By halfway through the first quarter I knew it was over. End of the 1st and no burger! WTF. 2nd quarter is worse than anything I can conceive of but finally the burger arrives and I eat, finish the beer, pay my tab and head home. Did I miss something? Nah. There is nothing to miss with what has become the 2008 Bills.

I have sat through every single Bills game the last few years but this season is different. I knew today, after just a couple of plays, that nothing good was to be seen in this game, just like I knew the Jets game was a washout. I also know that this season is over and done. We look worse week to week and the problems are to numerous to mention. The coaches have no answers and the players are in a daze. I can't even get mad any longer because this has been going on for years. We have gone from 5-1 to probably not breaking .500.

I have quit caring this year. Sorry Bills but I won't be wasting my Sundays watching this garbage product any longer this season. Hell, I feel like an idiot sitting there watching this tragicomedy every week, year in and year out.

    LOL

Just like everyone else BILLieving you'll be back next year with a can of lube ready to take it again.

The people that don't care any longer aren't too tremendously disappointed by this season because their expectations were low to begin with.

Otherwise, continued support for this nonsense and equally poor decisions will continue to be cheered right here assisting with this travesty that defines the Bills.

  3. I was pissed after the Arizona game, and after the Miami game, but then I reflected and looked at who we beat and now I realize this team is no better than a 4 - 12 (just lucky to get that 5th)

    Look who we beat

    Seattle - They suck

    Jacksonville - Jeckle and Hyde

    Oakland - They suck

    St. Louis - They Suck

San Diego - Jeckle and Hyde (not to mention they were looking ahead to London)

So after drinking the kool aid and now coming off that buzz...I realize that this is probably one of the worst Bills teams in years. Both sides of the O-Line are pathetic. The Line backers and DB's get no help from the lack of pressure or being put on an island when forced to blitz.

The running game and passing game struggle because we are forced to become predictable, not to mention always playing from behind. Edwards, has never impressed me, say what you will, he is not a starting NFL QB (a decent backup or filler).

The coaching staff (except for Bobby April) is a waste. In Turk we trust...Yeah BS. If the biggest change we see from last year is running that G-Damn WILDCAT, then please go somewhere.

Someone said it on here..time to dismantle this thing from top down.

And just think, world class decision making has Jauron here for another three seasons now.

What more could we ask for.

  4. Off target, bad decisions, no long attempts at all and 120 yards passing. Good field position and did absolutely nothing. Can also blaim the coaches for calling 3 run plays on first and goal.....

    He's very poised.

    That's all that matters.

Oh yeah, and Schonert isn't as bad as Fairchild.

    LOL

  5. My impression of the Seattle game... sans the rose colored glasses. I'm in agreement with R. Rich and a lot of what he posted earlier this week.

A win is a win is a win.

    1) Special teams proved why they are top 3 in in the league, if not, outright the best. They are simply damn good and championship calibre.

    2) What the hell is all the fuss about the Oline? They weren't perfect, but they were solid as hell against a decent defense. I have, no concerns with this unit... especially considering they will soon be enhanced with the return of Peters.

    3) The defense appeared to be much improved... however, it is difficult to get a clear picture of where they really are.... and I state this, because... in the spirit of "keeping it real" we must acknowledge that Seattle came ino this game with...

    * A QB that only threw 8 passes in the first presason game and did not play a down in the preseason after that

    * No class A RB

    * injuries to 3 of their top 4 WRs, and then during the game they lost the last of their top 4 WRs and one of their top class B RB.

    * Seattle had 8 plays of 16 or more yards. Not good.. considering the Sehawk Offense was not running on all 8 cylinders.

    * Seattle was playing catch up much of the game... especially 2nd half.

On the TD pass to Burleson, the only thing I can say is that Jabari had damn good coverage, Hasselbeck made a hell of a throw, and Burleson made a hell of a catch.... that's just one of those things that happen. So that one is a mulligan in my book.

I ain't taking anthing away from the D... I'm just saying this game was not a real test of where they are and don't take too much from it.

Offensively... I must say I was a bit disappointed. I saw none of this high octane offense that was presumed to happen with Turk. Look a lot like the same ole same ole to me. Granted, they played against a very good defense, even if they were minus their best DT (Bernard) and Tatupu not 100%. The offensive line played well, Marshawn and Jackson played well, the receivers played well. And, the special teams essentially gift wrapped 21 of the 34 points. That means, essentially, of drives they had, they managed 13 points. In my opinion, that aint gonna cut it.

I'm going to put the onus squarley on The QB... and here's why...

The bills had 8 3rd down situations of 5 or more yards in which they passed on. Of those 8 pass attempts,

only twice did Edwards throw the ball beyond the first down marker. To me, you can look it a couple different ways...

    1) Trent took care of the ball and didn't caus a turnover.... basically playing not to lose.

    2) Trent is the same old dink and dunk Trent that ain't got the moxie to challenge the defense and huck the seed downfield.

I kind of think it's somewhere in the middle of those 2. In any case... that ain't going to cut it long term. The Bills defense aint nearlly as good as the Baltimore defense when they won the super bowl... so transferring the Trent Dilfer offense to Trent Edwards offense will not yield the same results.

Going into to Jax this week, the defense comes in with an advantage again, in that they are going up against a patwork Oline and an Jax offense in transition with their WRs. So... giving up a lot of yards and points in that situation would not be good. On the offensive side of the ball, the Bills are facing a better defense than Seattle... maybe... or is the Jax defense also in transition from a few new faces and a new coordinator (Greggo) and phylosophy? And, can dink and dunk Trent exploit Greggo's high risk high reward schemes and gouge that D? I don't know those answers. But, I do know that the Bills need to win this one if they expect to be considered seriously for playoff contention. Now that Brady's done, there truly is a 3 way race to win the AFC east. the Bills must win games like this one against Jax to stake their claim to the division crown. Winning this weeks game on Jax's turf would be a big step forward. Losing? Well... They'd be back at ground zero... having to prove they are competitive, improved, and can run with the big dogs.

So... Here's to a well needed Bills victory this w/e.

    What an outstanding review!

  6. King must be on drugs. No way possible we are going to lose to a team decimated by injuries.

    http://fannation.com/peter_king_challenge/peter_king

I wouldn't call that by a mile, but our win last week was over a horrible team that day. They had no talent on the field on offense. Jax is completely the opposite so we'll find out how for real our offense actually is this week. Stroud made an enormous difference, but again, against what? Nada.

I'm optimistic for the D, but cautiously so. Very cautious.

As to the offense, I saw very little difference between the way the O was under Losman than it was under Edwards last week. A huge overreliance on big plays amidst the team's complete inability to move the ball regularly. That's just not gonna fly in most games if we expect to win them. Moorman's not gonna throw TDs every week either and punt returns for TDs are few and far between too. Maybe we get one or two more this year.

  7. While far from over, the knucklehead is finally gonna report. 'Bout time too. I wonder what kind of shape he's in. I'll follow this one closely. Hopefully he can pick up the new system and contribute come Week 2. He's not gonna play Sunday, but will report Saturday.

Looks like the Bills won this battle, but the war still has some life left yet. But I must say, I'm pretty happy he's reporting. But doesn't it seem like he went too far? Anyways, as always: Go Bills!

Yeah, now that he's with the team, let's see how long it takes the Bills to get a deal done as they promised.

  8. The way the Front Office are handling personnel decisions right now is odd -

They've been running it poorly since they've been here.

Everyone will continue to come up with excuses as to why they're good and forget all of it and continue to give them a pass as they drive the team into the ground. No one that's been supporting this front office has a right to say a damn thing.

For everyone else it's just more of the same.

  9. I feel like this first game will tell us a lot about what course the Bills will be charting for the 2008 season. I either see a game where the Bills beat up and roll over the Seahawks, or a game where the Bills lose a close nail-biter. This team now has large stable of young talented players who are also young veterans who should indeed be ready to take that next step into the "real playoff contender" roll.

This is how I see it...

    1. If they decide to go conservative, it will cost them the game because these young players have been too programed, for too long, in losing close games against good NFL teams.

    2. If they decide to trust in their players, give them full control in executing a wide-open, attacking gameplan, I think they will win this game by double digits.

The Bills won three games last year by double digits. Miami, the Jets, and Cincinnati. In the case of the Jets Losman threw the team's only TD and they barely won by 10.

  10. like he was during the 70's and early 80's. which is why he hasn't resigned evans or peters

Don't worry, everything will be fine, we just gave Kyle Williams and Spencer Johnson over $30 M in contracts with nearly $10M guaranteed.

Who needs them when you have them and Brad Butler.

Just keep telling yourself that the Bills know what they're doing.

  11. In the main, I really do like the matchup of our defense against their offense. Plus I believe our special teams will have a couple nice surprises for the opener. Early turnovers from our D and this could become what we all want for an opener. But our own issues on offense will make this closer than it should. I think Buffalo wins 23-13.

That's pretty bold since we didn't score more than 20 points in 12 of 16 games last year.

Seattle has no real WRs this weekend and their running game is also questionable generally speaking.

    We'll see.

  12. With all due respect to McGee, I think that McKelvin just seems a little more explosive. Call me crazy, but when he hits his break and decides to make that big move he looks like Devin Hester. It's that extra gear that only really great kick returners posses. McGee is a very good returner, but I think McKelvin could be even better. Hell, he may already be. Watch them objectively. McKelvin seems more electric already. Not to mention the fact that one is a starter in our defensive secondary and one is not.

You're not crazy. McKelvin is closer to what Hester is than McGee is.

Also, allow McGee to focus on playing CB.

    You're spot on.

  13. .This is why we are playing hardball with Peters and hearing quotes stating that any new money will be earned next year.

I have a feeling that the money just isn't there.

After all, we had to lock up more important players like backup Spencer Johnson, laughable Kyle Williams for the money, second year Brad Butler, Langston Walker and Derrick Dockery last year, all of whom are more important than Peters.

If we hadn't given contracts to Butler, Johnson, and Williams and ludicrous contracts to both Walker and Dockery, then maybe we would have had enough to sign Evans and Peters.

But who needs them when you have guys like Johnson and Williams.

  14. i know this is a bit premature but i know a great qb when i see one and the thing that separates the average from the great is a field general who can process a defense quickly and adapt during the game as a qb. i mean calling ur own plays and dictating to the offense. this is what u see from manning and brady, they dont have great arms or great o-lines, they r 3 steps ahead of everyone else where it counts. edwards is extremely smart and has a solid o-line, with evans parrish reed and hardy u might see lightning strike again in buffalo. having a great qb is what counts and is the only way to win in this league, bottom line. bill walsh told levy about edwards and i can guarantee u walsh wasnt wrong.

    Walsh was wrong about Mirer.

With this "guarantee," if you are wrong why should anyone listen to a thing you say in the future?

  15. Think about the term expert.

Dictionary definition: a person who has special skill or knowledge in some particular field; specialist; authority.

You can be an expert on the game, but not on the players or teams. You can be an expert on the rules, but not how players are going to perform. I hate the term expert related to picking teams. They are picking teams based on their opinion. That does not make them an expert on outcomes.

    Good comment.

It's interesting, Favre goes to the Jets and publicly admits that he doens't know the the Jets players and their playing traits and that he needs to learn that. But if he or any other former player in the same boat goes into broadcasting and says the right thing, everyone whose favor he has drawn will suggest that he knows more than anyone else simply because he played in the pros.

But hey, people will believe what they want to believe.
