  1. Once upon a time, once when you were mine

I remember skies reflected in your eyes

    i wonder where you are

i wonder if you think about me

Once upon a time in your wildest dreams

    Once beneath the stars

    The universe was ours

    Love was all we knew

And all I knew was you

    I wonder if you care

I wonder if you think about me

Once upon a time in your wildest dreams

    And when the music plays

When the words are touched with sorrow

    When the music plays

I hear the sound I have to follow

    Once upon a time…

  2. Having Southern US teams in the NHL just seems wrong. Guess it’s good that there are hockey fans in those markets, but c’mon…really? Is there even ever any ice in Dallas outside of the stadium?

And don’t even get me started on a Miami-based team in the finals. Ugh.

  3. I’ve always been partial to Hemispheres. The A side is not as powerful overall as the A of 2112, but it it’s a great concept tying into Cygnus X-1, and the album overall has some truly memorable tracks:

    The Trees

    La Villa Strangiato

    The Sphere

Agree with the OP - every album except maybe the first is memorable for its own reason. But I’d have to put MP as the most complete. Nothing there below a grade of B+ by my opinion for sheer listenabilty, although other albums have more for music geeks like me.

  4. Run, run, run away
Like a train runnin' off the track
Got the truth being left behind
    Fall between the cracks
    Standin' on broken dreams
    Never losin' sight
    Well, just spread your wings

    We'll get higher and higher
    Straight up we'll climb
    We'll get higher and higher
    Leave it all behind

    So baby dry your eyes
Save all the tears you've cried
Oh that's what dreams are made of
    'Cause we belong
In a world that must be strong
Oh that's what dreams are made of

  5. Lyin’ in a den in Bombay

With a slack jaw and not much to say

i said to the man are you tryin to tempt me?

because I come from the land of plenty?

    and he said…

    I come from a land down under…

Brilliant. Always happy to watch replays of the Niners getting spanked ad nauseum! Local media here are insufferable when they are half decent and have been all over Purdy’s Johnson for the last several weeks. It’s fun listening to listen to them try to rationalise this loss away. 🤣

As I mentioned in another thread, I was locked into a date with my wife last night and missed the whole game. I NEVER miss games, and I'm very curious to know how last night's game played out.

I have already watched the highlights that are available on YouTube.

What I'm looking and hoping for is a description of how the game played out.

Did Joe Brady call a good game? Did the offensive line protect well? Did the run game generally look productive? Did Fournette make any impact? How did Josh play overall?

Did McDermott call a good game on defense? How did Poona Ford look? Who were the defensive MVPs, if any at all?

Any recap anyone is willing to provide -- the more detail, the better -- I would greatly appreciate. Thank you in advance.

Depends. Do you want the trolls’ or axe-grinders’ or “the other team has a backup QB, so we should ignore everything else and expect a blowout” version? Then look for rants on the post-game thread.

If on the other hand you want a rational take, I think what’s been posted here is a good overview. Self-inflicted problems, far from perfect, but managed a win in the end.

Defense's have effectively separated the wheat from the chaff in the passing game this season.    Phony WR2's like Gabe have gotten exposed.   There has never been more WR talent in the NFL than there is now........but you have to be REALLY good to make plays when defense's are basically running the equivalent of hockey's neutral zone trap.

The only reason you can't see that our playmakers aren't as good as KC last season is because you refuse to face the fact that Juju was excellent last year.   24th in receiving yards and 77% catch rate.    A stud season from a guy who also once put up a 1400 yard season.    The Bills don't have anywhere near that kind of player as a second option.    The Chiefs also had dynamic impact from their RB's receiving........ 10 receiving TD's from McKinnon and Pacheco last season.......Cook has 4 with 3 games left.   But LOS aligned receivers are more important to the equation.   And fwiw, both Chiefs SB wins were capped off by plays by their WR2.......Sammy Watkins and Juju(who is open to extend and end the game if Bradberry doesn't grab him).

    Grind axes much?

If their Purdy QB is injured do you believe same thing?

One subtle disagreement - I live in the Bay Area and while Brock is a solid QB, most fans and media here would argue that the Niners are one Deebo or CMC injury away from being quite beatable on any given day by any decent team. Their offense is dependent on those two. Purdy is QB and gets the associated hype especially since he was a 7th rounder who is succeeding. But note that they were 0-3 without Deebo and Trent Williams, not without Purdy.

That said, when healthy, they are not a team I want the Bills to face. We are no better than a coin flip with our current injuries, but certainly have a chance with current level of play.

Why the righteous indignation towards a fellow Bills fan who expects a GM to actually make a move when we suffer catastrophic injuries. Who knows, he might even care what the customers think. Thankfully he’s got people like you, Rat person, who discourages any descent.

Not all indignant nor righteously so. I’m simply suggesting that Beane’s motivations have little to do with what fans make noise about.

I could be wrong - perhaps he’s doing his job based on posters on this board. In which case he should find a different line of work. 🤪

Funny you referenced LB and not our primary need, CB. Minn. needed aQB, they got one. Seattle needed a tackle, Leonard Williams, Philly needed a safety, they got an all pro, SF needed a DE,they got a 1st rd drafted Chase Young, the Bears wanted an elite DE, Montez Sweat. Jacksonville lost an OL and got one. If you are relevant and ready to deal draft picks, there’s a trade partner available. Beane got a good corner because he knew the fans would destroy him if he did nothing with his track record of not being active at the deadline.

    😳

Somehow, I doubt Beane gives a rat’s tail what armchair GMs care about his perceived lack of activity…

I wasn't surprised the Bills had problems with the Giants last night.  Brian Daboll knows Josh better than just about anyone else in the NFL.  Assistant coaches who return as head coaches to play the team he was an assistant with seem to overachieve against their former team.  I'll cite 2 recent coaches who left NE to coach other teams.  Both got fired before their 4th seasons.  Matt Patricia was bad in Detroit, yet he still was able to beat NE when the 2 teams met.  Brian Flores lasted 3 seasons in Miami & was 4-2 vs NE.  Now lets add Josh McDaniels who after yesterday is 2-0 with Las Vegas vs NE.  The record vs NE for these 3 recent coaches is 7-2 vs future HOF coach Bill Belichick.

So, lets hit the brakes on the Bills falling apart.  The last 2 weeks they traveled to London to play a team that had been there the week before & stayed there, then they came back to play vs a former assistant who is very familiar with the Bills.  I remember a time when the week after a game in Europe, the NFL gave the teams a bye the next Sunday.

I'll attribute the 2 showings to travel and coming back to play a coach who knows them better than just about any other head coach in the league.  Until proven wrong, I'm giving the team a break for the past 2 weeks, one of them a victory, which is more than I can say for Bill Belichick's recent  games versus his former assistants where he's 0-2 the last 2 times he faced Josh McDaniels and 0-3 the last 3 times he faced Brian Flores.  Add in the Patricia loss in 2018 and the last 6 games vs these 3 former assistants Bill is 0-6. The only one he's beaten is Flores in 2 of 6 games over 2019-2021, with 1 win each in 2019 & 2020.

Albany, I'm terribly disappointed in you. As a long-standing TBD member, you should know that nothing is acceptable other than a hysterical, irate, sky-is-falling-fire-the-coaching-staff-and-tank-for-the-number-one-pick post when the Bills win by anything less than 51-3.

    This is completely inaccurate.

McDermott and Dorsey are by far, by far the most criticized after a loss.  There is Fire McDermott and Dorsey almost weekly on here.

Vonn isnt too hard on the eyes either.

It's all made-up BS. Some US players sang, some didn't. Some Sweden players sang theirs and some didn't.

The self-righteous nationalist BS that gets parroted on social media/internet is not patriotic. Those are two different things.

Sweden wasn't even better that day. That's what kind of sucks about it. The US looked like they turned a corner with their changed-up strategy. They just couldn't finish it.

I agree -- I suppose I misspoke. USA outplayed Sweden most of the day from a strategic standpoint and deserved to come out on top IMO. Sometime the ball just doesn't find the net.

I have to say, though, that I hate PKs and always have. Horrid way to end matches.

  17. OK, I'll bite.

Could someone please explain to me why the USWNT not singing the national anthem is an issue? They are professional athletes. Is there something in their job description that says because they play for a national team, singing along or mouthing words is a requirement? Or that not doing so is unpatriotic and a violation of rules? Or is all this angst reaction to a false perception that every athlete from other countries in the women's world cup sang their own national anthem, and how dare the USWNT not follow suit like lemmings? Why does one have to sing out loud and yell "USA! USA!" to show their "patriotism" overtly?

Perhaps I'm mistaken, but I don't recall anyone on the team making an overt issue of this until the media / twitter asshats got on their case for a perceived slight. It probably would have sailed quietly into the good night. Rapinoe may have been vocal with her views and I see that that ruffles feathers. As may comments from her opponents ruffle the feathers of those who don't agree with them.

I've always understood that the price of "freedom" is tolerance of other views and the right to respectfully disagree. Where did this go?

I'd guess the issue is some people are very thin-skinned these days and perceive everything as a personal insult to their way of life. 🤒 Give me back the ability to just listen and disagree.

Just my two cents but it rubs me the wrong way when elite athletes chosen to represent the USA choose to 'sound off' using the national anthem of the country that they chose to represent as a form of protest. It's incongruous to me - particularly since the core values of our country allow for them (or any other citizen) to sound off on whatever issue they choose to.

Absolutely. Sweden had already missed two and the US had them dead to rights.

    They totally choked.

Yep. Humans, unlike robots, sometimes choke. Happens to the best of them as we all know. They were beaten by an opponent who was better on the day. Oh well.

Personally, as a football fan, I think they've raised the bar for the world over the last 20 years. One or two bad tournaments doesn't erase the mark they've left. Nor should it, or any amount of noise over perceived slights from their supposed ill behaviour.
