  1. Lol at the thread. Sanborn did have an off night, which resulted the Schmidt having trouble handling the snap on the punt obviously as well as one of Kicker Jesus's kicks (it may have been the missed PAT). If he does have another day like this, they'll look for somebody next year. That said, I want a long snapper who does magic or is alcoholic of Janikowski level, or at least something interesting.

  2. Looking at his art (and reading the older article), that seems about right. I'm no art critic, and Maybin clearly has some talent, but no more so than the standard urban muralist or children's book illustrator. I hope he's not shoveling that $14 million into producing and marketing his art because, quite frankly Maybin the Artist is roughly as successful as Maybin the Football Player: plenty good enough to make it through the amateur ranks, not nearly good enough (or inspired enough) to make it in the big leagues.

    This is true.

    The fact that he had two kids born by different mothers on the same day (I grant you one of them was stillborn), it shows that his off the field life was crazy.

  3.

    If the pictures make a difference, you weren't outraged enough to begin with.

    I know I am bumping a 24 hour post, but this is correct. We are too outraged with video and picture, when they paint the same damn picture that we have known all along. Ray Rice clocked his fiance when she was charging at him, I knew that before the video came out. There should have been a 4-6 game suspension and nothing more. Goodell has shown his incompetence in charge over the past 15 months where either the players have had double jeopardy punishments or have had them judicially rescinded. So, hopefully the owners wisen up and get rid of Roger, because he is the biggest problem of them all.

    The problem is that the media over-covers everything now, instead of letting the situation die out. Personally, the DA's office should not let out photo evidence of a case, like this.

    as much as I hate Jerruh, this is the right response from him.

  4. No mention of Karlos???

    Offense:

    QB Taylor

    RB McCoy, Williams

    WR Watkins, Woods, 7-11

    G Incognito, Miller (resign before season ends)

    C Wood

    T Henderson, Glenn (contract may be $$$), Kujo for depth

    TE Clay, (no to gragg, still not an NFL caliber player overall)

    Defense:

    DT Dareus, K Williams, Charles, Bryant

    DE M. Williams, Hughes (need more depth here)

    LB Brown, Bradham (need some depth here too)

    S A Williams, Graham

    CB Gilmore(more $$$), Darby, Robey

    P Schmidt

    ST Easley, Sanborn

    I know there are a few contracts that need to be worked out, but these are my keepers. What say you?

    I'd keep 27 of the current 53, but that is just me.

  5. The NFL's greed is pushing this. Unfortunately, Ralph was one of the first to extort massive amounts of funds for a new stadium, which doesn't do enough for the local economy considering the investments from the local governments.

    I am of the opinion that no public $ should be spent on stadiums. The return on investment is zero or negative to the local governments, and it seems criminal for billionaires to ask taxpayers to pay for their locations when they make profits to the tune of $30 million per year.

  6. The analysts and forced discussion make it tough to watch the game sometimes. I like it better when they just give the play by play as opposed to micro-analyzing everything.

    Something along the lines of:

    Boobie up the middle, tackled by Kirkpatrick gain of 8. 2 and 2 on the Bengals 34.

    10 seconds later

    EJ out of the gun trips right, throws it complete to Hogan, and he is going down the sideline. TOUCHDOWN!!!

  7. I am wondering if they are waiting until Karlos is healthy. Then they cut Boom and re-sign Gay.

    They would get rid of Cierre Wood I believe before Boom.

    edit just saw that Ik was activated and that wood was IR'ed. I'm guessing that Boom stays until Shady and Karlos are healthy.

  8. It is generally easier to catch a kickoff than a punt. The most important duty of the PR is to catch and secure the ball. The PR must be smart and be able to take care of the ball. KOR are more about getting better field position and you see more gifted athletes/speedsters.

    I had the same question over the summer because I wanted to know why most don't do both. I also think you don't want to necessarily expose one guy to the rigors of both and spread it out.

    This.

    The ball descends at a different velocity, and angle: kick-off being more of a line-drive, punts a pop-fly. A kickoff is fielded in open space, with little to no activity around the ball catcher, where straight ahead speed off a single cut is often the most beneficial.

    A punt is fielded in traffic requiring a different level of field presence and concentration, where the ball catcher needs to be quick, rather than fast, and make multiple cuts to escape the "phone booth".

    Finally, a kick-off is almost always fielded, if it is going to be returned, no more than 5 yards deep in the end zone, and usually no further up field than 5 yards. The returner never has to track the ball backwards, and make decisions about whether or not to field the ball, or whether or not to fair catch. Conversely a punt returner has many more decisions to make, and has to track the ball both horizontally and laterally.

    and this.

    Kick off returners have to make major decisions: should I measure how far it goes past the end line or should I be brave or stupid and return it? Punt returners have to use some judgement and not be brave or stupid.

    Usually the upback will make the decision for the returner.

  9. This seems like an odd thing to say. He made a split second move in a football play and made a legitimate block. Got flagged for a legal block, but he's at fault for putting the refs in a position to make a bad call? Is this a real thing?

    I concur. The players abide by the rules or don't. If they do something legal, they shouldn't worry about being penalized. Furthermore, in the clutch most officials put the flags away when the game is on the line to avoid criticism for borderline calls, let alone a legal play. This one is on the official.

    If Incognito didn't fall, it isn't a penalty. This sets up a dangerous precedent.

  10. From the NFL rule book:

    A chop block is a foul by the offense in which one offensive player (designated as A1 for purposes of this rule) blocks a defensive player in the area of the thigh or lower while another offensive player (A2) occupies that same defensive player in one of the circumstances described in subsections (1) through (10) below.

    The penalty on Incognito was not a penalty.

    I don't know what anyone else is talking about. The initial contact was above the waist, thus it was legal and 7 points were stolen from us. That crew today did an injustice to the game with some really crappy calls both ways, and led to the outbursts of emotion from certain Bills. That said, Rex needs to control these boys.

    The NFL has a big problem with the game taking too long. Games scheduled on TV are taking longer due to more penalties and rule changes to protect the player forcing the game to be more pass dependent. Thus there are more stoppages due to penalties and incompletions which slow down the game more than a bad soccer match. If the NFL is trying to sell the game to other countries, it has to make it faster pace, thus more contact allowed on defense in the passing game and having an off field official to help expedite penalty decisions (or even communications between officials via headset).

  11. I am worried about depth in the linebacking corp and secondary. Kyle is getting up there in age and our OT play could be better.

    I'd rank as such:

    QB= P6

    RB= P6

    FB= P9

    TE= P6

    OT= P3

    OG= P6

    OC= P4

    DE= P4

    DT= P3

    OLB= P4

    ILB= P6

    CB= P4

    S = P2

    K/P= P9

    I would go P1 for safety, but I am of the belief that you never sell the farm for a safety.

  12. You can't see where Judge Berman was wrong? His order is hot garbage through and through. Brady didn't have fair notice that cheating would carry a penalty? Well's report materials needed to be provided to Brady before the Wells report was actually issued!? Hogwash. Brady was prejudiced b/c he crossed the lead investigator but not the second hand guy? LMFAO. When two rules apply only the more specific can be used? Utter nonsense.

    Biased court has to be called into question as Berman was socializing with Kraft right after the case at a party in the Hamptons. This could lead many to believe that impartiality was compromised during the proceedings.
