  1. It depends on how much you plan on using internet access at home. You can get web access through your cell phone (I pay an extra $4 a month for it on my plan). I got it for remote access from job sites, and it works well if you can put up with 56K speed.

I was going to use inet access for school, so doing it off the cell phone is out.

  2. Thanks, everyone, the overall intent is to lose the landline altogether and just keep the cell and a cable modem.

Fez, I have DSL and dialup because I travel frequently, and had been maintaining an ATT WorldNet dial up for my laptop. My DSL is very iffy because of poor infrastructure, and I often get too much noise to pull the DSL signal, so I use the dial up account from the house a lot.

Now I feel dumb for not Googling harder. Anyone actually using it? I was interested in some first person experience.

  3. If time were not a moving thing

And I could make it stay

This hour of love we share

    Would always be

    There'd be no coming day

    To shine a morning light

And make us realize our night is over

When you walk away from me

There is no place to put my hand

Except to shade my eyes against the sun

    That rises over the land

    I watch you walk away

Somehow I have to let you go

    Cause it's over

If you knew just how I really feel

    You might return and yet

    There are so many times

That people have to love and then forget

Oh there might have been a way somehow

I have to force myself to say

    It's over

    So I turn my back,

Turn my collar to the wind

    Move along in silence

Trying not to think at all

I set my feet before me

Walk the silent street before me

    Now it's over

If time were not a moving thing

And I could make you stay

This hour of love we share

    Would always be

    There'd be no coming day

    To shine a morning light

And make us realize our night is over

    It's over

  4. I've been looking to cut down on my "communications" expenses. I don't use any of them enough to warrant the expense of phone, mobile, DSL, dial-up, etc. I've seen advertising for telephone services that are run completely through the internet, no need for land-line or anything else. Supposedly no conflict with a normal telephone service. This can also be used remotely. If this thing is legit, it could save me $150 per month.

I have not been able to locate much information on the goods and bads. Most of what I've had time to look up is pretty well advertising copy.

I'm not tech-savvy, like so many here. Does anyone have knowledge/experience with any of these systems? What am I gaining versus what am I giving up? Example, can calls be forwarded from/to? Is this just a way-around for long distance?

    Thanks in advance.

  5. Darlene gave me so much, there is no counting. I think, I'm hoping one of the best gifts I gave was a Bible. She grew up Southern Baptist. She decided on her own to convert to Catholic, long well before she met me. Those of you who don't understand the comittment to that, please refrain. This is definately not against anyone.

She had an old Bible, a Catholic Bible, left from the "crazy Aunt" to her sister. Sister is pretty well agnostic, wasn't hard to get the Bible. Only reason she had it, was cleaning out the house.

The cover was torn off, the pages were stained. I found someone who restored old books. a true craftsman, of the old school. I'm greatful for his skill, and his fairness on the price. He re bound it, placed it in leather...

That will always be special to me. I'm pretty sure it was special to her, too.

  6. How much money do you think should be given right now?  Better yet, how much do you think can be used?  I haven't yet heard anyone complaining about relief efforts being hamstrung for a lack of cash.

That never enter into the minds of people who don't have to do anything about it. Yes, sending a check (a children's toy? that's another stupid story entirely, but I've heard it).

As with anything, principles, ideas and beliefs are noteworthy and always to be commended.

It gets a little tougher in the trenches when you have to make them work out. Where's that magic wand? You holding it today?

  7. K.

I love a lot of different types of music.  Classic rock, Metal, 80's, 60's pyschadelic, folk music, blues, I love lots of music.

Country is horrible, and I can only listen to one or two rap artists.

There's a song called "The Dance", by Garth Brooks. I think you'd like it. It's a really nice song.

  8. 70's or 80's DP?

    185440[/snapback]

One of my all time favorite boogie tunes from them is "Lazy". I guess we can safely say 70's.

Stevie Ray after that. "It's rainin' down in Texas..."

Diana Krall, and Frank after that.

Glad I always follow the crowd.
