  1. I was thinking the same exact thing while watching him tackle. Every tackle was high and none of them were big hits. After saying that, it seemed like he was in position to make the plays right from the snap. I am officailly jumping on the Michael Huff bandwagon, we need more playmakers. We can get 1 D-Lineman in the 3rd, 1-2 in Free agency, and with our 2nd rounder get an O-Lineman and get another O-lineman in free agency.

  2. We would sign someone like Brian Williams for 2 mill., or draft one with our 2nd pick. From what I here, if you play the cover 2 you have to have 4 lineman that can rush the passer without blitzing. It isn't as important to have top flight corners. The Bears corners were all 3rd round picks and later, and would probably struggle mightly playing with a different team.

  3. I'm getting kind of tired of everyone always comparing every huge guard to Bernie Anderson. Bernie Anderson wasn't drafted for a reason, he is way too slow and has bad technique. The only similarity between Jean-Gilles and Bernie Anderson is that they're both 350 pounds. The similarities stop after that. If we do trade down a couple slots and pick up an extra 2nd rounder, I would love to get Michael Huff.

Six Trojans projected to go in first roundBy Mel Kiper Jr.

    Special to ESPN Insider

Following the week of Senior Bowl practices, there have been some changes to my first-round projection for the 2006 NFL draft. There are 14 underclassmen in this week's projected first round, three fewer than last week.

The top-six picks remain the same, but the one newcomer to the top 10 is Texas defensive back Michael Huff. Right now I have him projected to land in San Francisco, which has the seventh overall pick. What I like about Huff is his versatility because he can player either cornerback or safety.

This projected pick reminds me of what the 49ers did in 1981 in a similar situation. In the '81 draft, the 49ers had the eighth overall pick and selected another versatile defensive back, USC's Ronnie Lott.

I will submit another first-round projection following the NFL Combine, which is Feb. 22-28 in Indianapolis.
