This brings joy. My biggest issue with our defense is watching top tier QB's laugh at our Tampa 2 defense as they march up and down the field on us.

I dont mind giving up the odd big play against superior offenses when they'll inevitably score anyways after a 12 play drive. I'd rather risk some creativity and force turnovers and stops. It's been gut wrenching watching DeShaun Watson, Philip Rivers, Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, and to some extent Skylar Thompson marching up and down on this soft zone defense.

There has to be something said for a defense who let's QB's take easy throws and get in a throwing groove. Make them work for their receptions.

The Super Bowl teams in the 90's played the same soft defense in every game.  Bennet & Smith were handled easily.  I hated it when Kelso played 20-25 yards deep and still couldn't make tackles/

I’ve stated many times Josh elevates the team around him more than any other QB in the league. He’s mostly had piss poor offensive lines and average talent around him…. Along with a defense that doesn’t have a clue against elite QBs in the playoffs.

    Well said

I believe that for a lot of the consistently negative poster it comes down to a couple things.

    1. I think it's fair to say more times then not roster moves tend to gravitate to either not working out well or being a minor improvement NFL wide. That goes for draft picks and FA signings. Statistically if you pan every move you will be right more times and can thus crow about how smart they are. And there is absolutely zero accountability for when they are wrong. Let's say someone like Harty goes off this year and has a monster season. All they have to do is say "Boy, fellas I've never been happier to be wrong." and then go on to the next move to pan.

    2. I think a lot of people that are ultra negative also do so to protect their own feelings/emotions/outlooks. Lower expectations so they are mentally prepared for the worst when and if it happens. I see that with a lot of people that appear to lean way too much of their own personal happiness into team success.

I believe #2 is quite accurate.  In Bills history the WORST has happened so many times since the AFL-NFL merger.  We don't want the Bills to be better or competitive.  We want a Super Bowl win to clear our minds and cleanse our souls.

The 70's were bad, 84 and 85 were a nightmare. The drought also sucked. I am excited for this season. The Bills probably won't win 13 games as the division and schedule is tougher. My guess is 11-6. Will that be enough to win the division is anyone's guess. They are still a good bet for the playoffs. All of the AFCE games are going to be fun and nerve wracking to watch.

Nerve Wracking is wonderful for me

OT is thin. Dawkins looks more out of shape than he did last year, and Spencer Brown is Spencer Brown.

    Another year on Mitch Morse.

Best opportunity for growth is Guard play.

The WR group is effectively the same as 2022, no change to Diggs and Gabe Davis. Unless we all think D. Harty or Sherfield will stay healthy and move up and produce noteworthy numbers.

Kincaid is the obvious offensive upgrade.

Defensively, there is age creeping into many positions - DaQuan is 30+, Miller is 33, Hyde and Poyer nearing the end of the line. The loss of Edmunds, but also, the unit lacks playmakers. Is Tre White going to start picking passes again? Does Dane Jackson take a step forward in Year 4? Do we get anything out of MLB?

And then there is McDermott, who has confidence that he can outcoach people in the Playoffs?

I agree about the age factor on Defense.  I don't see Poyer, & Hyde making it through a 17 game season.

That's true, but also I wouldn't blame him if he just wanted to pare things down a bit on account of everything with Kim. Not easy running two organizations and also dealing with her situation on top of it all.

The record label and concerts were part of Kim's duties.  She pushed it hard.  I can see Terry having little interest w/o Kim.

He makes about 800k base salary.  Basham and A.J. about 1.5 or so. Not really significant savings. Not sure I would move on from either of them but I might trade Lawson.

Who is going to want Shaq at his age & career stats?

I think he sticks around. Just a hunch, no rhyme or reason.

I have to agree.  He has some special talents!

One Bills Live isn't journalism, it's marketing. Sometimes when they get outsiders like Greg Cosell, these people make very veiled critiques of players (but never the system) but you'll be hard pressed to see Tasker, Brown or Maddy Glab (she was hired just to have a young female presence; she's not very good at dissecting football) say something bad about the team.

Tasker could really more discreet in his homerism. His income is based on the Bills, West Herr commercials and being a commentator on the Bills pre-season games.  How can he turn on the hands that feed him.

A hearty round of applause for Jacob Fromm.  Today is truly a banner day for elite whites!

Honey, warm up some milk and bust out the saltines because we're celebrating tonight!  If all goes well, I'll be pushing the twin beds together about an hour from now if you catch my vernacular.

    a nasty comment

Another small LBer...which is what they apparently like so it fits.

Meanwhile, Jets and Pats add RBs, Miami doing "due diligence" on JT. Thinking perhaps teams are eyeing Buffalo and their small LBers as a team to run against. Pound the rock, physically dominate the line AND keep Allen off the field. Solid gameplanning on their part if true.

Interesting. I don't know if Sean has seen what he needs to in the return game. I am with others thinking it may just be to give our current top 3 RB's a rest against Chicago, but who knows?

This guy ran a 4.40 forty-yard dash on his pro day.  They need a GREAT return man.
