A QB whose has the ability to scramble and make plays simply should not be getting sacked 7 times. How in the hell does that happen?

Few things. The Texans have shut down the Rams to 14 points. Kept a Bucs team with all their pieces to 20 points. Shut the Niners down. Shut the Colts down. Only teams they didnt shut down was the Jaguars who had a ton of special team points and a few turnovers. The Seahawks put up 27 points but also remained committed to the run game unlike us.

The more I think about that Texans game the more a few things are ringing true. It was a short week which always favors the defensive team, let alone the best defense in the NFL. The Bills were the road team which also doesn't play into their favour. Not an excuse but its a part of the equation.

Ultimately though I think that game comes down to hubris. The Bills felt they had one of the best Offensive Tackle pairings in the NFL that could handle the Texans edge rushers. They were wrong. Joe Brady has to answer for not providing additional support for Dawkins who ended up concussed and Brown who was injured. I blame hubris for the Dolphins loss and Falcons loss as well. I am not sure why the Bills have come out flat against lesser competition.

My limited faith in this team is that they seem to perform when their backs are against the wall leading into a game. Only game I cant really explain is the Patriots game. From I remember the refs threw a ton of ticky tack penalties on the offense the first three drives which kept putting the Bills behind the sticks which was frustrating and had not happened before or since. My confidence in this Bills team all comes down to the Patriots rematch. If they come out flat that game then this years Bills simply dont have IT.

  2. Hard-core cheering for the Texans. Unless they overtake the Jaguars they'll be coming to Buffalo in the playoffs. Road Houston and Home Buffalo who won't be on four days rest means that Thursday Night chaos won't repeat itself. Houston is not the same team on the road.

People are really shell shocked by that Houston defense even though it was a road short week game. Short weeks favour the home team and the defensive team. Bills will adjust to that Houston defense. I dont predict anything more than 21 points but they'll adjust.

Meanwhile that Houston offense is just straight up awful and it isn't gonna be easy for them in January in Buffalo.

KC is hands down the most frightening team in the AFC if you're a Bills fan. You dont want them making the dance.

  3. Never listened to WGR. Only exposure was Shoop and the Bulldog and that was awful.

I must say I've enjoyed his every day man approach to Bills Squad on Locked on Bills. He is rational and educated enough to ask the type of questions fans want to hear.

For any Bills fan who doesn't listen to Bills Squad on Locked on Bills it's a must listen. They don't throw flowers at the Bills and are critical about a lot of things related to the team. Joe Marino and Jerry Ostroski really balance one another's expertise.

The Mariners absolutely managed themselves out of that game. They were hell bent on using Bazardo again even though he had been overused. That home run was totally predictable.

It's not a matter of liking or hating cities.  The Yankees have a long, proud history of great players and winning championships.  Many were long time Yankee fans before the Blue Jays became a team.  Many of the Blue Jay fans here are fans because of the affiliation with the Buffalo Bisons.  There's also the fact that the Yankees and the Mets are both NY teams, just as the Bills are the only NY team.  Personally, I'm a Yankee fan and am disappointed by the Yankees season ending.  They were beaten by a clearly better team.  The Blue Jays played championship caliber baseball.  Best of luck the rest of the way.

    That makes sense.

To me the Yankees are like the Lakers, Cowboys, or Leafs. Just so hard to justify liking them. But, if you're a fan. You're a fan.

  6. Go Jays!!!!

It's amazing how many Ontarians cheer for the Sabres but asking a WNY to cheer for the Jays is like asking them to eat glass.

    Not sure why that is?

Which city does Buffalo dislike more, New York or Toronto? Just curious. New York same State/Country. Toronto closer proximity.

I feel like the Halton/Hamilton/Niagara corridor in Ontario is culturally almost identical to Buffalo and the surrounding area.

  7. I want the Ravens to win. That defense has issues that won't easily be fixed. Henry naturally wears down over the course of a season which makes the Ravens far more tolerable an opponent late in the year. Look how lost Lamar looked last night in the 4th quarter with Henry not able to suck coverage towards the line of scrimmage. He panics and scrambles. Henry is everything to that offense and he becomes less effective as the season goes on.

The Chiefs are going to figure it out eventually. With the Ravens and Lions coming up they could find themselves in a huge hole. Not a hole where they can't make the playoffs, but a hole where they can't be strategic in how they rest guys down the stretch and how they hide their offensive and defensive schemes for the playoffs. Mahomes is gonna have to rush a lot late in the season vs. only turning it on in the playoffs.

Flip side is if Buffalo has a large enough lead they can now start resting guys down the stretch and be strategic with their play calls. That season where Buffalo went from 6 - 6 to 11 - 6 was an impressive turn around but it killed Buffalos roster having to essentially play for their playoff lives down the stretch.

Buffalo hasn't been healthy defensively in the playoffs which has been the Bills downfall. The best way to avoid this is grabbing the # 1 seed which becomes more likely with a Ravens win.

    Look.

As a Toronto & Toronto Area NFL fan since 1963 and an ex Bills Season Tix holder starting in 1981, Toronto wants its OWN franchise! They would sell out an NFL Stadium forever, as there is a quantum increased degree of money there v.s. WNY!

There is certainly a million- 1.5M NFL fans in the GTA, but they aren’t all Bills fans!

And the POS trash product from OBD for those games, was the same POS trash product that played in Orchard Park… for the lost years of this Millennium.

Having the 2025 franchise visit is an entirely different question. Still, a number of Ontario laws, particularly around tailgating would need to change.

in the end, they should have got a franchise decades ago and the rivalry would be intense.

Would Toronto want in on the NFL action?

    Of course.

Does the NFL want Toronto? Not really. They have the market through Buffalo and would rather those Toronto corporate dollars come to Highmark Stadium on game day. You'd have to have really deep pockets to make it worth it for the NFL.

In short the NFL is never coming to Toronto unless some massive NFL fanatic Canadian with 10 billion to spare decides they want one.

Has something changed since the Bills last Toronto series? I only ask and make these assumptions because the Toronto series didn’t have great attendance. The other international series games don’t seem to have this issue.

No idea but you went off about Toronto and how they only support the Maple Leafs. Toronto has an excellent track record of supporting all its sports franchises except for the Argonauts.

People also forget the fools running that series were asking for $ 400 a ticket to watch Trent Edwards and JP Losman back in 2010 which is crazy money even today.

Toronto fans are much more NFL educated than any market outside the USA. They knew that entire Bills series was a scam and that the legit NFL Buffalo experience was a short drive down the highway. London, Mexico City, Berlin, Brazil, etc are not close to being as NFL educated as Toronto and are also not within a 6 hour drive from Buffalo, Detroit, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh.

Any NFL fan in Toronto has been to an NFL game live and doesn't need Toronto to host a game to get their NFL fix. Those other cities need to attend the NFL when it comes to their city.

TSN and Sportsnet did a poll of sporting interest and the NFL as whole only finished behind the Leafs in Southern Ontario. Ahead of the Jays and Raptors. NFL is huge in Toronto. You'll find fans of every team up here. Bills leading the way followed by the Steelers, Cowboys, Packers, and Niners.

You would. The Bills players and the vast majority of fans would not. You could go to Madrid without the Bills having to play there like 99.99% of the population if you really wanted to see Madrid.

Would Toronto support an NFL team? They only show up for other non hockey sports when the team is a winner. Also, population isn’t everything. It’s almost like people forget that a HUGE part of Toronto’s population is first and second generation immigrants, many people who likely have yet to develop any appreciation for American football.

Really awful take. Gold Horseshoe (East side of Toronto to Niagara Region is a population of almost 10 million of which 7 million are white Canadians.

Furthermore it's trendy and cool to love the NBA first and foremost for most recent immigrants followed by the NFL. It's hockey and baseball they're struggling to show interest in.

Raptors, Jays, TFC all do very well attendance wise regardles if the team is competitive or not. Only the Argonauts attendance sucks. Very poor take.

Very bad take. No Bills fan should want Buffalo's international games played anywhere other than Toronto for travel sake alone. Ideally there is just no longer anymore international games.

    Wrong.

Toronto is the 4th largest city in North America.  It has plenty to offer the NFL.

How long do you think Canadians are going to continue to cross the border given the current climate down there?

I personally know of 4 sets of longterm Bills season ticket holders who decided not to renew in the new stadium.

I appreciate you suffer from that well established City of Buffalo fear of losing your professional sports teams given the city's 5 decade long economic decline however to say Toronto would not be a great new NFL franchise is pure homerism.

The Bills are NOT going anywhere.

    Why the fear bro?

I'm Canadian and live in Oakville...

Seriously don't recognize the University of Waterloo emblem in my avatar?

Toronto has nothing to offer the NFL.

No improvement to TV revenue. The TSN and Sportsnet Toronto NFL team TV revenue would be an insignificant drop in the bucket compared to what the NFL already receives from TSN, DZN, and CTV for the Canadian NFL rights. Advertising revenue would be next to irrelevant. Stadium revenue given the up front cost wouldn't do anything for the NFL. NFL isn't the MLB, NHL, and NBA where teams have a local broadcast team to generate advertising revenue. NFL wants a bottom line of how you contribute to the total pie. How does Toronto help NBC, ESPN, FOX, ABC, and Amazon? It doesn't.

Would Toronto be a healthy market in terms of stadium sellouts and local revenue for the Toronto NFL team owner? Yes. Does Toronto add anything to grander scale of the NFL? No. Given the cost to build a stadium expansion fees and everything else, I'd say it wouldn't be worth it for any potential owner.

    3 hours ago, T.E. said:

Oh man, the whole franchise might collapse because a handful of Canadians are coming up with melodramatic, phony reasons for why they dont want to pay for more expensive tickets next year.

Yes. Any Bills flirtation with the city of Toronto puts them one step closer to ultimately moving there.

Buffalo already owns the Toronto market and Ralph Wilson knew this and went about it the wrong way.

Pegula is being much more intelligent in his Toronto approach by bringing aboard Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady, and Jozy Altidore to tap into the deep pockets of Toronto by bringing them to Buffalo.

    NO THANK YOU.

If Toronto is going to get a team, it should be one of 4 new NFL franchises to get to 36 teams.

$2.5B for a downtown new stadium in Toronto plus $2.5B for the franchise fee.

    I don't have $5B so I won't worry about it.

Toronto will never get a NFL team. Nor should they. As far as the NFL is concerned they have the Toronto and Vancouver market covered with Buffalo and Seattle. Montreal isn't anywhere near as crazy for NFL as the other two cities.

NFL has maxed out Canada. Only thing the NFL wants from Toronto is more money pouring into Highmark Stadium from Toronto on Game Day. Toronto has nothing else to offer the NFL.

The NFL does NOT give a crap about the CFL.

It absolutely does otherwise it wouldn't have bailed out the CFL in 1997. NFL saved the CFL from going under. NFL wants to grow the game of football globally and there is value to having a league where guys can potentially evolve to playing in the NFL. NFL might not give a crap about the CFL as a competitive league but it absolutely wants it to exist.

  14. Every football fan in Canada laughed at that statement.

    1. Everyone remembers how disastrous the Bills in Toronto series was last time.

    2. Toronto doesn't have a field suitable for NFL football as the Rogers Centre has been retrofitted for baseball only and BMO field maxes out at 42 000.

    3. Canadian Bills fans made their voices loud and clear by boycotting anything Bills related to playing in Canada.

    4. NFL won't do that that to the CFL ever again.

    5. It serves no purpose to growing the fanbase. Josh Allen's alone is growing the Southern Ontario Buffalo Bills fanbase. Easily the most loved NFL player since Brett Favre.

Nope. Not even close. Just not someone whose built his life around creature comforts of sitting and TV. Nothing macho about it. Which is what's so depressing. People have really let themselves slip into basic comforts where they don't have a shred of basic resiliency. If watching an NFL game outdoors is becoming too much for people I'd really question where we are heading as a society.

The fact you went to macho tough guy is another indicator of how far we are slipping as a society. It's not macho to want to watch a game outdoors. It's actually a very normal thing. If you're elderly and perfer a Dome I understand that completely. If you're not, you are likely a sit in air conditioning during the summer and stay indoors during the winter type of person. Is what it is.

  17. The way things are going Buffalo and Green Bay are going to be the only open aired stadiums with a grass field in the Northeast and Midwest. I love that. Will be unique and Bills Mafia will continue to be the working mans experience during Bills games. Eagles games like many other teams will become a non intimidating wine and cheese crowd. I want a loud, rowdy, passionate, but sane Bills crowd at home games. Corporate America is slowly killing what made so many things in the USA special by pandering to the elites.

I guess I am not a wuss like many others on here. The partial roof and height of the field is going to eliminate most of the elements as is.

USA walks away with Gold. Comfortably

Canada walks away with Silver. Comfortably.

Not sure what the point is? Is it to grow a sport? Or watch NFL players grind the other countries into dust as NBC laughs hysterically at the profits?

The only reason to add NFL talent is so casual fans go, "ohhhhh I know those football players. Me watch." It certainly serves no purpose in actually growing the game to a wider audience.

    or maybe it does.

Other countries basketball programs have exploded even though America destroys them on the court. Maybe China, Brazil, Japan, Nigeria, Mexico, and France will be OK losing by 100 points?

  19. Homer Take and Long Take

    Offense

    - Josh Allen mental game is catching up to his physical traits. We have a few years of peak Josh Allen before physical traits slowly come down. So best QB we have had?

    - Top 5 OL

    - RB room is top 10 but can go south if Cook isn't invested.

    - TE room is top 10.

    - 2021 with peak Diggs was our best receiving group with Allen. This group is much deeper 2 through 5. Remember when Davis and Mckenzie were options 2 and 3? ugh.

    Defense.

    - DL on paper is easily the best group. People forget the years of aging Jerry Hughes, Trent Murphy, Mario Addison, burnt out Floyd, and injured Von Miller as our DE in the playoffs. Buffalo has always had horrible DT depth. At least this year you can see a clear path to a productive interior pass rushing group. Run stuffing DT remains a issue but I imagine this will be mostly left to Daquan Jones who will no longer be relied upon on 3rd downs.

    - LB avg Unit but no reason to believe that both Bernard and Williams don't continue to improve. Milano is no longer an all Pro but is still good. 3rd year Dorian Williams and Hoecht (Yes I know considered a DE but will be playing LB snaps particularly against the Ravens and other power offenses) are easily the best immediate LB depth we have had.

    - Corners a lot rides on Maxwell Hairston development but do people really think this years version is worse than Levi Wallace, Elam, Dane Jackson, and aging Douglas? Would be nice to see Benford actually play a full game in the playoffs against the Chiefs (T White and Benford in their primes seem to always be injured late in the playoffs. This needs to change)

    - Safety Easily our 2nd worst safety room the Bills have had in the Josh Allen era outside last season. A LOT rides on Cole Bishops development. Nickle players with Hancock and Forrest could absolutely upgrade that unit just by actually being much more physical and athletic. All depends how long McDermott gets this group up to speed. I can deal with Raap for another season if we have actual athletes around him.

All that is to say. I've seen better Chiefs and Ravens teams than their 2025 versions. I have never seen the AFC this loaded with above avg. teams in the Texans, Chargers, Broncos, Bengals, and possibly Steelers if Rogers goes there. Patriots and Raiders will not make the playoffs but will make every game difficult for their opponents.

Bills need to finish 1st in the AFC because the stage is set up for them to go to the Superbowl. All comes down to the Bills 3rd down defense. If it goes to top 10 from 29 than good luck rest of the NFL not named Ravens, Chiefs, Lions, Rams, or Eagles.

I doubt it. It doesn't really work like that. Dropping 15 pounds doesn't up your RAS score from a 4 to a 9. One is an elite athlete and one isn't. Watching their college tape it is no contest. Landon Jackson is much more fluid than Epenesa.

A lot of truth here. I'll add that having a mid-season funk nearly every year while dropping games against inferior teams, causing the Bills to miss out on the 1 seed is something an elite QB like Josh Allen shouldn't be doing either.

And losing out on the bye and having to play Wild Card weekend every year is another reason they haven't reached a Super Bowl... Regularly capturing the #1 seed needs to be the main focus of the regular season, which means learning to win the stupid mid-season games against teams like Jacksonville, no matter what and no excuses.

I push back on the narrative that the Bills actually had a legit top 10 defense. Sure the #s played that out and you can only play the teams in front of you but there were many seasons in a row the Bills faced a ridiculous amount of trash, rookie, and back up QBs.

The Bills defense has always been the same. Makes rookie, and low tier QBs look horrible only to be smashed by good QBs.

The answer is simple the back 7 can greatly disrupt bad and young qbs. They can't do that to good QBs. Only a good pass rush can. The Bills have never had one against good QBs.

Chiefs might beat other teams in the playoffs but that hasn't changed the fact that the Bengals, Niners, Ravens, Eagles, and the freaking Texans have all had far superior defensive showings against the the Chiefs in the playoffs than any of Buffalo's four attempts.

Not surprising either as all those teams have/had superior defensive line talent than what the Bills have been pumping out.

Round 1 -  32 year old Jerry Hughes and Trent Murphy with Star Lotulelei as your best DT

Round 2 - 33 year old Jerry Hughes and Mario Addison with rookie Ed Oliver and Vernon Butler as your DTs

Round 3 - Bills were so badly injured on defense it didn't matter but our Dends were Rosseau and Floyd who fell off a Cliff Week 8.

Round 4 - besides Rosseau and Oliver no one is even worth mentioning along the DL.

If people actually went back and looked at the Bills DL depth it would come as no surprise why this team can't beat the Chiefs. Josh Allen is the only reason these games are competitive.

  23. This is kind of a three horse race.

Ravens would be but who knows when Henry falls off the RB cliff and Lamar is legit snake bitten in the playoffs. That defense is going to be scary good with their off season additions.

Bengals might be more legend than reality at this point. Bills have completely overhauled their offensive structure and their defense seems to be leaning towards being better at stopping talented QBs. Too many variables have changed since their last meeting.

Chiefs are the Chiefs. Would be nice to have one game against them in the playoffs where we were the healthier team. Their receivers will be much better this season. Their defense and OL will be worse. What does this mean? I don't know. Chargers, Raiders, and Broncos are all trending up and the days of them clinching their division in November might be over.

If the Bills defense can return to a top 10 Unit and if they are relatively healthy I like Buffalos chances.
