  1. This is absolutely a positive performance from the rookie QB.

Looked shaky at times, but I’ll take it as it’s against a very good defense and he never lost his head and made big plays at key moments.

Needed to drive down the field late in the 4th for a FG to win.  Check.  Win.

Most important to me (admittedly unscientific) is that he just seems like a winner.  His teammates are all in.  I just hope he stays healthy—he will continue to improve.

  2. Yeah, I agree.  It's a mess.

Also very confusing and inconsistent:  the occasional blowing of a whistle when a QB is ruled "in the grasp" or "forward momentum" stopped.  This usually is the call when it's an excuse to take away a forced fumble from the Bills defense.  Also, to some extent, intentional grounding is all over the place in terms of how it's interpreted.

This was an overwhelming decision, but I'm at peace with myself and my family. I choose to be grateful to God for allowing me to play the game that I have loved as a boy until I turned 30 years old. I choose to be grateful to God for being a part of the NFL and making lifelong friends over the last decade. There were roadblocks and pitfalls along the way, but I am grateful to God for all of it because he doesn't promise any of us an easy journey.

Lastly, I am grateful to God for what he has in store for me ahead, in this next chapter of my life.

Blah blah blah...blow it out your ass, Vontae.

Four shout outs to God, but no apology or mention of the teammates and fans that he selfishly left hanging.  I don't understand how someone would want to go out like that.  I think it's a shameful way to end a career.  If you can't play, that's understandable.  Announce it later in the week.  But the way he handled it, it was a slap in the face to a lot of people.  Vontae will be remembered for this stupid gesture probably more than anything else he's done.  What a dipschytte.

I just watched ESPN's coverage of Vontae Davis walking out on the team.  Max Kellerman just took a big giant steamer on the Bills and Bills fans.  He is laughing at the situation.  He needs to get socked in the jaw.  The Bills fans are the most loyal in sports.  He's a pompous jerk.

I've liked Max for a long time, especially on HBO's boxing coverage.  But lately, he has become annoying.  He talks a little to much and thinks not quite enough, trying to get a reaction.  It's the same kind of hasty, hot-take invective that is very much in fashion in not just sports commentary, but society at large.

Who's going to guide Josh Allen, Nate Peterman? Really? Seriously???

    Your thoughts?

Can't argue with that.  It is a serious problem.  The kid deserves better.  He shouldn't have to take it upon himself to call out the defense to play better as a rookie in his first start either.  Luckily, he seems to have the poise, backbone and leadership to take all this stuff upon himself and do it pretty gracefully in my opinion.

I think Allen has shown himself very well so far, all things considered.

  6. The crappy thing with Vontae isn’t that he left the team short handed—we can agree that he wasn’t contributing all that much.  It’s the message it sends to his teammates (like Lorax) who are still out there, in a bad spot, getting embarrassed, but still fighting.  Vontae, in effect, says “I don’t need this **** show—I’m outta here.”

It’s dispiriting.  Salt in the wounds of his teammates.  It’s not just disrespectful—it’s agressively ****ty.

    Good riddance.
