Sorry if someone already made this point, but I'm at work and didn't have time to read through every post.

Josh Allen is playing mistake free the last few games (bravo), but it's also severely hindering him.  The clear reason for not being able to connect on a deep ball, is his fear of throwing an interception.  As a result, the ball always ends up in no man's land.  Not only can it not be picked, but also has no chance of our guys coming down with it.  I mean, he hasn't even been close.  It's grossly overthrown every-time.  I've felt this way for weeks, but he just confirmed it in his post game presser.  They asked him if he can pin-point the reason, for not being able to hit the deep ball, and he just said, I don't know, followed by.......I don't know if I'm super anxious about under-throwing it, and getting an interception. The coaches have him playing scared. This is a major detriment to his development. News flash.....we are not winning the Super Bowl this year, but we have this special talent, that we need to develop. Peyton threw 33 picks his rookie year.  I'm sick of this ultra conservative approach.  The only we we are beating the better teams in this league, is if Josh plays up to his potential, and that's not happening with the leash that they have on him.  Let him go, and win or lose, live with the results.  We'll be better in the long run for it.

Was Josh Allen consistently completing deep shots prior to catching the turnover bug?  If memory serves me correctly, turnovers have always been a problem and the deep ball has just gotten worse.  Sounds like a bad case of the yips to me.  The coaching staff has designed route trees that have led to wide open receivers.  But sure, let’s just blame the coaching staff for impacting JA’s confidence and continue to coddle the guy.  What a joke.  Your post can be found in the 2013 archives, just replace Josh Allen with EJ Manuel.

I get the feeling the offensive coaches are babysitting Allen a bit too much.

Pretty sure Dabol has been trying to stop " Bad Josh " from showing up.  You know, the guy who trys to make a play out of nothing and throws picks.  But at the same time "Good Josh " plays the same way.  It's a fine line and I think the bills need to let the reigns off of him a lot more.

This makes zero sense.  Throwing 41 times in a game, empty formations with 5 wide every offensive series, deep shots and JA designed runs called each game, and a lack of commitment to the running game are all signs of a lack of handcuffs.

If anything, it has been the complete opposite. The coaching staff has let JA play too much and designed too many game plans around him and the passing attack. One could argue, less Josh equals more offensive success.

Here’s the thing though: giving a defensive look and being able to execute it consistently are two different things.  The Browns have been trying to stack the box and stop the run and not succeeding.

False. NFL analytics shared that the Browns ran the most Cover Zero looks today than they have all season. Try again.

You can post stills of any qb and always find recievers open they missed multiple times.....dabol is worse than allen...esp when you have your 2nd year qb passing for 40 times against a very good pass defense and only rush the ball 15 times against a suspect rush d....every qb misses throws...and in this pic allen was set to throw in a hurry as dawkins was a turnstile and allowed pressure asap...this doesnt prove anything except dawkins wiffed right away

I mean geez how could allen not see the one reciever open when pretty much 3 browns defenders are parting our oline like the red sea lmao...allen couldnt have set and thrown to that reciever without getting absolutely crushed head on lmao

Watch the live tape, he has Beasley open right away, well before the pressure arrived.  That is 1000% on Allen.  Great play design, horrific read.

    Situational football

Putting your specific players in position to succeed given their specific weaknesses and strengths

    Playing overall percentages

Situational football/playing percentages: We needed 4 yards.  4 yards moves the chains and gets us a new set of downs to take shots on.  A long bomb is always a lower percentage throw.  Miss and you’re off the the field with a defense that has been both amazingly tough at times, but frog-marched backwards down the field towards the goal they’re defending at others.  Get the first down, then take the shot.

Player specific strengths/weaknesses: Allen has been struggling with those passes to the point where it’s gonna become a hang-up with him if it isn’t already.  So why put him in a situation he’s been struggling with, on a key down and manageable distance?  Get the first down, then let him take a shot when he’ll get a re-do.

Look at it this way.  Maybe there’s a situation where a QB draw would be the perfect play.  If your QB is Philip Rivers, who has the mobility of a statue, calling a QB draw will not put him in a position to succeed.  Dial up a different play.  This is my frustration with Daboll.  He doesn’t seem able to look at the players he actually have and scheme to their strengths in a situationally appropriate way.

I am not just referring to the Mckenzie play in my criticism of Allen.  There is more than one read per play.  I do not believe it is fair to cast blame on the OC when the QB misses a wide open layup for a touchdown and there was also underneath options available.

They also don't have a competent FO or coaching staff which is why they don't have a competent NFL quarterback.

If only the archives went back far enough.  Insert this exact same narrative for:

Tyrod Taylor, EJ, Fitz, Trent, Bledsoe.

    It’s rinse and repeat.

Fan base starts to become worrisome over state of team given poor QB play - results in blame of OC, front office, HC, personnel, etc.

Self realization later comes to fruition that it was the QB holding the team back all along.

    Should be in medical textbooks.

Point is we have a young project Qb that needs the help of a run game to be successful. So why did we abandon what was successful last week against a team that can’t stoop the run?

The defensive looks were completely different this week relative to last week.  Hence, why Daboll decided to continue to press the pass against a defense that was daring Allen to beat them.

Sorry this is truth over you're personal thoughts.

What is your truth?  All is see is copy/paste and completely ignoring my point.

So by you're logic. The Packers need to fire there coach. More run plays vs pass. Even tho they won but ran more running plays. (Balanced)

What?  By my logic, if the OC is creating open receivers for his QB then he is doing a fine job, regardless of run/pass ratio.

Hey bub, what's higher percentage, rushing for 5YPC or tossing it 50 yards down field?  Daboll is the main problem on this team.

I’m not referring solely to the missed deep attempts.  Educate yourself and watch the tape.  What’s a higher percentage, a run against an 8 man box or a wide open receiver?

If you’re answer is run, the problem lies in the QB, not the play caller.

They played the 30th ranked run defense who have been giving up and average of 5 YPC and nearly 150YPG.  Do you not think that they played to stop the run against other teams? Guess what? They could not.

***** take what they give you.  Take what you want.

Hey pal, play designs were leading to wide open receivers and the opposing defense was playing cover zero, press man and a loaded box.  Daboll was fine.  Allen was not.

That’s what good offensive coordinators do they make adjustments to adjust to the team’s strengths.

Once again, Josh is who he is and that’s a project QB. The offensive scheme is not working and hasn’t been working. How long do you stay with the same game plan each game when you can’t score? How many times do you call designed runs for your QB who has trouble holding onto the football? If your QB can’t hit certain plays then why don’t they adjust? We see the same thing from Josh every week some good some bad. Josh is who he is so why does everyone expect to see something different from him each game. He’s not all of a sudden going to start hitting deep balls when he hasn’t all season long. Any growth at this point will come in the off season not during the season.

I think the complete opposite.  Growth and progress needs to transpire during the season when it matters.  I would rather the training wheels be kept at Toys R Us to see exactly what we have in our “franchise” QB rather than adjust to hide his flaws.
